As usual, I needed to find the perfect moment to listen to a new ATL song. An almost religious moment, filled with expectation and respect. And boy, was it worth it. Saying this song is wonderful would be a total understatement: it's yet another masterpiece. How is such music created? Where do those sounds come from in the heart and mind... How do you know when and by how much to make a sound? When does the second-guessing finally weaken... and the final cut is made?
The answers seem to be found only through much effort and angst by the artist. Secret 'what ifs' rob you of sleep.

The song makes me feel so very good.
Your reflection reminds me of the countless times I've asked myself the same questions. Now that I'm on the other side, I can't give an unambiguous answer...sometimes I myself wonder how I came up with the idea of doing certain things, of using certain sounds. It's like all the good things in life, even building a song is a path in which the only goal is to get to the end. You don't know what it will be like or how you will get there, every choice you make determines the path and can open up new perspectives for you. Every musician makes many journeys, some close well, others not so well and many times he gets lost in the middle without ever seeing the end.

@@atergolupi I know nothing of songwriting, reading, music, notes, or even carrying a tune in church.
But I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my photography and highly self-critical. Plenty of negatives and slides people will never see, haha!
Most of the time it takes just a little bit of post processing to get the image I want, and I often find it easy to conceptualize what I’m standing in front of to the finished product, and it’s just by experience that I know which tools to use to get me there.
Angst comes to me with the picture that I can’t capture, or using the wrong settings, film or file type and other such ill-behaved monkey wrenches.
Makes me wanna go fight a battle and come back and drink some ale!
