What have you done to this beautiful and meaningful song?? Who are you to dip it in glitter and remove its heart?? Does Joni Mitchell know that her song has been bound and gagged with tinsel and garlands, and then drowned in a toxic sludge of mainstream "holiday music" additions? What a monstrous abhorrence. This is why we can't have nice things.
This is an atrocity. I understand the idea of taking a song and remaking it in a different style to create an ironic, or at least a new, listening experience. Streisand and Garland's duet "Happy Days/ Come On Get Happy," for example, does this masterfully. This, however, suggests that neither he nor the arranger bothered to read the lyrics. The music and the words are fighting, and this destroys--rather than adds to--any understanding of this gorgeous Joni Mitchell song.
I loved D

This is actually a very sad song. Strange to make it so peppy.

A song about giving a child up for adoption turned into a hyper-consumerist christmas song. Jesus Christ.
