If that happened then I think We would have gotten Rick AND Shane vs Negan instead of just Rick vs Negan which means Negan would have been defeated in round 1 as opposed to being defeated in round 3, Negan would jump Rick, He would disarm Him, kick Him and disarm Him again but as He's going for another swing which might be fatal, Shane comes in and shoots Negan straight in the head saving Rick from a certain death only to kill Rick aswell, then, fool the others into thinking Rick was killed by Negan and Shane killed The Leader of the saviors afterwards, that way He'll take charge of the militia and fight Simon, Dwight might help Him in that fight but Simon will be defeated either way and He would leave Dwight's fate to Daryl
That wasn't the problem at all my man. If Rick was actually dead, should Shane and Lori never have been together? If your answer to that is yes, then you're dead wrong. If Lori had allowed Shane to father Judith, it would have kept him sane.
