    Next video will be an Engine Oil change, I have no idea how old the current oil is, but it has been sat outside for four years so it's probably pretty degraded! I am also currently preparing an incredibly nerdy video on UK legislation on the use of blue lights and sirens on these Green Goddesses. There are a lot of misconceptions! Subscribe and click the bell icon so you are notified when the next video is uploaded. See you next time!

      Enjoy the oil change especially the oil filter with it being high up. If the oil is milky there is a chance you will have to drop the sump to remove and repair the cooling coil. Good game

    keep up the good work on the goddes. The green bag witht he water bottel cap and the filter canister looks like an NBC respirator haversack

    There were wrekers ( medium recovery vehicle) in some convoys and there used to be a specific jack carried in the under seat locker when originally issued in the 50s and some timber blocks were also carried to assist in jacking up (but not in all)

    Goddess originally carried 2 paraffin lamps, which sat in the small raised area in that locker, towards the front.
    Canvas and wooden "ladders" are actually hose ramps to allow traffic to move slowly over charged hose.
    Straight through locker was for hose
    Other tool on the roof is a ceiling hook, used for taking down ceilings

      Thanks for the comment. As I said in the video I'm learning something new in every video. Is the lamp in the video original do you think? Very interesting to hear about the hose ramps, I had questioned myself after the video as to why you would have such a strange 'ladder', I guess that just highlights my lack of knowledge! Thanks for the information and the view.

      @@perksauto2458 dont think that lamp is original, but if it fits comfortably in the small recess, keep it... Shout if you need further info

    The gardening saw is part of the hearth kit to deal with chimney fires. It should live in a maroon or black bag that has a load of other bits in it to gain access when fighting a chimney fire. It also had bolt cutters and chisels etc in it and lives in the locker that had the paraffin lamp in it. the wooden thing in the under seat locker is for a saw and should live in the long locker you couldn't open.

    the green metal handle as you described it form the undersea locker is a battery clamp for the vehicle battery I guess the one fitted is now bigger than the original and hence the bracket is left off. The two holes are for the threaded bar with a wing nut and washer on top and the 90degree angles sit over the battery edge.

    The wood & canvas items in the o/s rear are hose ramps for other vehicles to cross over, when the hoses cross a road.

    The straight through locker was used for hoses, salvage sheets, foam containers.

    The vicious looking instrument is a gardeners pruning saw. The long thing on the roof is a steel shod crowbar, a standard bit of fire brigade kit used to gain entry to premises and so on. You may find it useful and interesting to look out for the old "Manual of Firemanship" series of books, which give great detail about the practicalities of fire fighting. Cheers.

      Hi Bill, thanks for watching the latest video. No idea why a pruning saw would be buried on the shelf of an old fire engine but each to their own I suppose. I had no idea about the crowbar so thanks for letting me know. Ill check out those books and hopefully will be able to complete a video without saying, "I honestly have no idea".

      The other long tool is called a ceiling hook, used to pull down ceilings to expose hot spots.

    Good videos, keep them coming. Nice to see other Goddess projects. The black bracket you had in the cab is the hold down bracket for the battery.

    Can you read the locker check list on cab wall of the 1st locker you looked in. You appear to have the cab extinguisher in that locker, another extinguisher and are missing 1 Jerry can ( 2 metal for petrol) and a big yellow plastic one for water. The long screw holding the rubber on the locker on is either the wrong one been put in or its pulling out!

    Spanners are from the original bedford tool kit. Each vehicle had one when issued. Cant remember where they were stored. Probably under the seat in thier own tool roll. The lpp tool kit was also provided with the pump and lived in its own tool roll quite often in with the lpp

    You appear to short of atleast 2 suction spanners they should be hung up on the hooks in the locker with the foam branch. Originally 4 carried then down to 2 and then back to 4 for some GG'S

    Interesting you have little tabs to lift the under seat locker covers. Some had finger holes instead

  • @lxtechmangood9503
    @lxtechmangood9503 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The T key is used to lift the floor panel in the cab to access the brake master cylinder, to access the top of the sigmund pump so you can get to to the primer drain tap and the grease adjustment and to get to the vacuum pump and improve access when working on the pump or primer and also to open the roof access to the tank

      I owe you a drink buddy. You have literally answered every single question I raised. Interesting to hear about the subtle variations like the finger holes etc. Someone else has mentioned about the t key for the pump, I can’t believe I never noticed it! Thanks for all the information and watching the video. I’ll be sure to mention all this gen in the next video.

    The wooden pole on the left side roof looks to be a haligan, used to pull ceilings down

    The handle thing. Could that be part of the battery clamp? I'm guessing it's incomplete.

      Hi mate, yes you're right it goes over the battery and then two threaded poles come up so you can attach some wing nuts on it. It doesn't quite fit the battery I have so I will modify it slightly and install it in a future video. Thanks for the watch, hope to see you on another video.

    • @perksauto2458
      @perksauto2458  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate thanks for the view. Obviously there are a lot of factors involved but for me in particular it costs 600-800 (mileage dependent) fully comp. If you have a few years no claims then that will bring it down to 200/300 if you have another vehicle as your daily driver. I ride a bike so my no claims is on that.

    • @southcoast999
      @southcoast999 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PerksAuto ok thanks I have had one for 13 years never been on the road as might arm you if you haven’t been told already don’t drive it with water they are so top heavy and any more than 10 mph round a bend with water will make them fall over

      @@southcoast999 How have you resisted the urge to get her on the road!? I have heard horror stories and a couple of the older guys I work with warned me of this as well. Even when the tank is empty, the lean is ridiculous, but great fun! I am aiming to do a video with the tank full to demonstrate the difference in performance and stability at some point but that will not be for a while I don't think.

      PerksAuto well my urge is that in two years I am able to drive so I want to get my green goddess on the road however I will not carry water but use a stand pipe to get water in an emergency also there is no baffles in the tan except two bits of metal in the middle that don’t help to stop the water from shifting also can you do that oil change video as I need to change my oil and would like to see how to change it on that vehicle

      @@southcoast999 You have the right idea my friend, I will only carry water in the First Aid tank once just to see the difference in mpg etc. I am in the process of recording that video and aim to have it uploaded by Sunday coming.
