it's clear the 6 has more detail, natural colors (more realistic), less processing. I feel like they made the 5 process more to compensate for the subpar camera.

The Z Flip 6 is great but for regions with rubbish trade-ins, upgrading from the 4 or 5 is not a great value choice. For people coming from the 3 or first-miners and returners, then this will hopefully be a better experience than what has come before. Though, for me, it remains a lifestyle choice. There is simply no way I will pay £1050 for specs that will cost half that in a candy bar phone. There are millions with more disposable income than me so they may think that value is not as important as what they perceive the Flip 6 as. No problem-buy whatever you want, but not for me until it falls to nearer £600 in a few weeks…
The digital sharpening on the Flip 5 is just ridiculous and makes zooming in almost unusable. I think adding the extra resolution and reeling back the sharpening were necessary changes if theyre not going to add a telephoto lens. I would've loved to see the bigger sensor from the S series, but i know we're working with very limited space here, so it is what it is
I generally like the camera of the 6 better, but I actually am a fan of having a bit sharper photos. I've never had a Samsung before; is there a way to manually get the same/a similar effect with the 6..?
Currently using my Pixel 8 Pro mainly for pics of the kids but using the the Z Flip 6 as my main device. Pixels Portrait mode is absolutely amazing. I know i shouldn't compare them but i hope future software updates on the Flip 6 will help bring the camera at least close to Pixel quality. I feel the Flip 6 needs that sharper boost. They look good compared the Flip 5 but when compared to the P8P even my kids say it looks bad. But hey my Pixel can't fold into a more compact size like the Z Flip and that's a big deal for me. I've never owned any previous Z Flips so thank you for the great comparison review!
I've had the Flip 6 for around 5 days now and here are my main takeaways about the camera: - I love the new processing. It's a bit more muted and it's way easier on the noise reduction. Shots at night have clearly visible noise now, which I found to be a good thing. Earlier phones would smooth out the noise and smudge details in the process. - Night mode is 9 of out 10 times just horrible and useless. Especially in auto mode. It rarely adds detail and it usually only adds brightness and oversharpening. It seems only beneficial in very dark circumstances, near pitch black. - IMPORTANT to note that, while night mode is 'useless', the actual night performance is very good. The Auto mode outperforms the night mode most of the time. - shooting a photo is very quick now! Barely any delays! I love it.
They do look very similar except in some areas to where it's a little darker on certain objects compared to the other one being lighter on certain objects
I was brought her by a TH-camr bc I mention I wanted to see a comparison between the 2. I enjoy my flip 5 alot. I just wish Samsung would stop treating it as a midranger just bc it flips. I would love to have top tier specs as the s line. First time I'm leaning towards not upgrading 😒. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the comparison. I do like the natural processing better on the flip 6. However I think a lot of people may migrate to the Razr for its oversaturated and brighter photos this year. Im really happy to see the clariry improvements in the zoom function when cropped. Thats huge.

Wow! Good to see how the 50mp definitely change the quality of the flip series. I have the flip 5, i went back to my s21 ultra because i miss the camera quality. Especially if i want to xook in somewhere. But to knoe the flip 6 shows it actually have more natural tones, not blurry shen you show me mpre than 2x. Great video!
Definitely more pleasing with the more natural processing, that much detail isn't very natural so im pleased it looks like a better balance this time round. Just bought a z flip 6 from Ebay for £730 - unreal how quickly the price drops on the private market, £300 less than retail and it came out a matter of days ago 😆😄 I never keep my phones for that long so not worth paying retail price for me
Hands down Flip 6 photos are so much better you can always edit your picture if you want more contrast duh! I got mine the Silver Shadow and it’s the most minimalist utilitarian phone I’ve ever owned and owned them all. It’s a thing of beauty that phone. BTW the hinge is almost invisible now.
i have the flip 5 and want to upgrade for the better battery,. would you say you see a big difference in battery life and photos? also i hear a lot of people are having issues with the hinge making gross noises and having to have them replaced already. have you had any of those issues?
iPhone user here. Can't you just adjust the sharpness in Google Photos/Gallery in 5 secs? IME adding sharpness is easy, but removing it tends to make the photo blurry
The Z5 is for amateurs, with the fake sharpening and all. The Z6 is much better. The Z5 is like the Iphone, which can only produce decent photos in RAW mode
I upgraded from the flip 4 to the flip 5 but I won't upgrade to the flip 6. Flip 5 and flip 6 looks almost the same. Camera isn't much of an upgrade, I think night photos look better on the flip 5.
This phone really shouldnt be used for photos specifically if doesnt compete any where near other flagship phones even after all these years. Ill stick with my pixel 8 pro
Can anyone kindly explain would Iphone allow me to transfer all of the contents of my iphone to a Samsung Galaxy phone if I decide to purchase a Flip 6? Would I lose out on any data from my iphone?
yes. you can transfer it very easily. you will just need to download an app to your iphone. when you set up the samsung phone it will walk you through that process. i went from the iphone 15 plus to the zflip 5 and everything transferred over. just make sure to check everything before factory reseting your iphone because i was not able to use the same app on my samsung that i used on my iphone for bills and i lost all of my information and had to start over. it was a pain. so just make sure you fully tansfer, set up and double check that you can get the same apps on the samsung before deleting what you have on the iphone.
It wouldn’t be a total clone copy over but yes you can transfer your photos etc to the Galaxy. Some app data might not transfer either but it’s really easy to do when you set it up
Nice job, I traded my 2 Flip 5s for 2 new Flip 6.. I had fun setting them up, learning lots of new things, hope that the battery and the other features are worth the cost .. Time will tell
The zflip 6 has the s22 ultra's sensor. Just buy the s22 ultra lmao. Rather wasting your money. Just wait for the iPhone 16 or s25 ultra recycled phones.

Same here, I went to the Flip 6 from an S23 and was pleasantly surprised. I might miss my telephoto lens, but tbh I mostly used it for portrait shots

I did NOT expect the higher res main sensor to be such a great change.
Might not be as great as a dedicated telephoto, but it's good nonetheless.

in my 13 years as a smartphone user I've never used the zoom on a phone camera. So I think I will stick with my flip 5 for now.

Most of the pictures looks better on 5. On 6 looks way too smooth, a bit “fake”.

I just upgraded from Z flip 4 to z flip 6, the back camera is definitely better but somehow the selfie camera became worse (when taking quick selfies)

My iPhone 13 I bought in USA got blocked in Turkey after 10 months. Looking for an interesting second phone but the Flip 6 is $1750 here💀
This can easily be fixed with software.
