Started noticing 3 days after installation that over half the time when logging into Mac or Windows only one of the drives would show.
I tried reinstalling the adapter, reseating the NVMEs, and trying a different power outlet.
I emailed the company, they ignored me. I emailed a second time three days later. Got a response. I told them everything I did to resolve it. Ignored. I emailed again 2 days later. Got another bot response. I responded. Ignored again. Have been emailing every day since to no response. The issue still persists 3 months later.
So keep in mind: If you have any issues with the adapter, they WILL NOT RESPOND

At a premium price the service should be premium as well. And the product should function flawlessly at this price. Amfeltec doesn't even post prices on their website, you have to send them a quote request. This leads me to believe that they only make them in small quantity and might only order more from their EMS contractor once they have an order from a customer. USD $500 might cover the cost of a small run. I'm surprised that none of the Chinese manufacturers have jumped on this and produced them in high volume. I couldn't find anything like this on Aliexpress or anywhere else. If this type of product were to work flawlessly and sold at a reasonable price, then they would sell like hot cakes.

I tried reseating it, reinstalling the whole thing and it’s always the same slot that refuses to load half the time. Sometimes both slots wont work. The only one that is flawless is the middle slot which is for the apple OEM. Really sucks because I wanted Monterey on one and my bootcamp windows on the other

@@moncyn1 unfortunately nope. Ive reseated it and the drives over a dozen times. Same issue. Sometimes the drives show sometimes not. I even bought 2 additional drives they claim are compatible, nope. Same issue. I emailed them again got one response and that’s that. They do not care
When the board works it’s great! But I cant trust it with my video editing. Having to constantly restart the computer until it decides to show up will be a death blow to professional video and photo editors
The guy said “blue light means the nvme is detected but not reading” he ignored my question about the red and green colors.

You spent $500 on a adapter and then put in cheap DRAM cacheless SSDs. You have should used a Samsung Pro 980 or 970 Pro. Those SSDs with DRAM cache have much better random read speeds...

Thanks for the video been looking at these for years now just never purchased because of the price. I messaged them for a quote a few years back and they offered a discount but last time a few months back they wouldn’t offer the discount. With the detection issues and the high price it’s a real shame.
Yeah it inflamed me that they would not respond once they got the money.

AngelShark put a lot into engineering this product. It is well designed and they should be able to recoup their development costs. The price is perfectly reasonable in my opinion...
If it works? No, not even then.
When it came out? Yes. But only if it works. Mine still doesn’t and they have never replied long enough to get me a solution or explain what any of the colors mean that shine out the bottom of my Mac because even they dont know.
Costs go down over time.
I can buy a similar device for my windows pc for $150. Imagine thinking over $500 for 2 additional NVME slots that barely work is “worth it”

You must work for AngelShark. Come off it. If they stood behind their product there would be an actual price on the website instead of a quote button. Is there a different price for different customers? $500 is unreasonable for this device considering the cost you have to pay on top of it to purchase the storage. If it offered additional features, I could understand.

Given the speed constraint, why would you spend ANY money to do this. Just use external NVME's and TB2 connections, prolly give same performance. Yeah, price for this thing is wack! My guess they are trying to recoup engineering and manufacturing costs, but the dilemma is nobody will buy due to the high price point - so the price wont ever come down. Apparently, they didn't contract with PCBWay!!!!
The adapters at the time for NVME and for NVMEs total would have cost as much as this that’s why
The speed constraint is due to the fact that it is plugging into a PCIe 2.0 bus system. The beauty of this solution is that it would allow for expanding the system’s secondary storage while continuing to make use of the original Apple proprietary PCIe attached SSD … all inside the system’s enclosure.
