Same here, I'm glad I watched your video. I have learnt something new about caring for my banana plant. As I'm new to gardening altogether. Love from Australia...
Wow, glad I came across your channel. I’m in the PNW as well and have the goal of growing bananas for fruit. Got a garden buddy that I trade varieties with. Have 7 edibles I’m working with and of course Musa banjoo was my starter banana. I’ll be checking out your other videos for tips!
Always happy to compare notes! My blue javas didn't come back this year - I think the wet winter was too much for them. I don't have bananas other than Musa basjoos that have survived a full winter outside. On the inside, I've got dwarf Cavendish, super dwarf Cavendish, and Musa truly tiny.
@@vibonitatropics I’m growing mine exclusively in pots and bringing indoors for winter. My basjoo was the experiment to stay outside. Came back nicely but could only ever be decorative. Had tiny pups last summer and continued in a grow tent overwinter. Of course, no one believed it was bananas I was growing. 😂. I have some pups I’ll be separating soon. Be glad to share one with ya. My main Blue Java is a good 8-10’. I’ve also got Namwah, D Cavendish, Marzano, TT, and just acquired two short cycle bananas last month, Viente Cohol and Kokopo
Nice! I have a few blue javas left in pots. Not sure if I'm going to try them again outside or leave them inside. In the last 2 months I've added some namwahs as well as manzanos which will both come inside for the winter. I tried veinte cohols last year but they didn't survive the winter inside for me. I'll probably try them again sometime. I forgot to mention I also have a Musa double mahoi which has done very well. It survived the winter inside with no issues and now has 4 pups. I also have a Puerto Rican plantain which has thrived over the summer. I'll bring that one in for the winter and see how it does.
I wish my banana would flower😭.. it’s 12 months old now.. but to be fair it started as a PUP last AUGUST so it was late to start for me.. some people had there bananas flower at 10 months.. so idk why mine wont
It'll happen. I would leave your big one in the ground wrapped this winter. It took me 5 years to get my first flower because I kept moving the plants every year. Now they've been in the same spot the last 3 years and I will have at least 5 of 13 flower that I started this spring with. I think at least 2 more will flower before summer is over.
I did not know about a flag leaf, thank you! You got a new subscriber :)))
Glad to share!

Nice, 😊 3 years ago I gave a Musa basjoo pup to my friend and yesterday he sent me a picture and it was a flag leaf. 😁 It makes me happy. 😅
It's always exciting!
Good to know. I had one last year or so and out of ignorance I cut it off
The list of dumb stuff I've done is very long 🤣
Awesome video. Have you tried any of the bananas yet?
Not yet. I will let them yellow first which could take a while.
