  • Doctor Denton is back to talk with us about eye pressure or Intraocular pressure (IOP). In this video, she will discuss what IOP is, if we test for glaucoma every exam, and how Intraocular pressure measurement affects eye pressure. Dr. D goes over each way we can test eye pressure, what to expect, and the reasoning behind testing. If you haven’t had an eye exam in a while, we highly recommend you call and schedule an appointment. Our team at Salisbury Eyecare and Eyewear would be more than happy to assist you. #eyepressure #faq #eyeproblem #eyeproblems #eyecare #eyehealth #eyedoc #eyedoctor #optometrist #optometry

I have high blood pressure everytime...have been tested for Glaucoma by specialists. All come back negative. The pressure doesn't ever go higher, it either goes a little lower or stays the same as the precious eye exam. I've asked what other causes can determine high eye pressure and all these eye doctors are telling me there no other reason why I'd have it unless its Glaucoma. 🙄

My pressure was 21 and 23. Doc says its higher than average. I'm 45, type 2 diabetic. I take good care of my glucose numbers especially in the last 6 months, I've lost some weight with diet and exercise. He didn't see any diabetes in my eyes or damage from the pressure. He says we'll check it in a year.
I do use over the counter readers 1.5. I see fine far away. Sometimes my vision is blurry far away n that's been happening the last year, I'm not sure if its related to the diabetes or the pressure.

I have a weird question. I've had a sharp pain in my left eye off and on since December 2013 and I notice that I wake up with a stabbing pain in my eye when the barometric pressure changes and the pain goes away after twenty minutes after I eat some food like an apple or oatmeal. When I mentioned my eye pain to my eye doctor, he didn't know what it was. My eye exam where they blew the air into my eyes showed that my eyes were healthy. Any idea of what this means and do I ever have to be concerned about my vision?

Can be tough to increase. Is that your normal pressure or is this following surgery or meds? Is your doctor concerned that it is too low? Staying hydrated is helpful but if the cause is something else that won't help. Definitely see your Optometrist/Ophthalmologist and go with their advice!

Lots of options. Eyedrops. Laser Procedures. Surgical valves/stents/other. Eyedrops are typically first line.
