Love SD to the end of the earth, they've been my number one band for 3 years now, since safeword. It is so relieving to see a band so genuine and have so much care for every single aspect of being a band. Olli is one of my biggest inspirations with how dedicated he is but also personally. As a trans man I've always been petrified to wear anything feminine but over the years, seeing Olli wear crop tops gave me the confidence to wear crop tops and eventually make up (something I never thought I'd do and had entirely sworn off). This band means everything to me and they deserve the world.
@@evnpol4r I just saw this! It's really difficult at first. In the beginning i only wore crop tops on nights out, so i could be drunk and not care about what i was wearing, and over time, i became more comfortable. But now it feels so freeing to wear what ever i want to! Hope your journey to crop tops is going well!
as a SD 'fan' who hasnt had time to explore this band's lore, ive just vaguely heard about how creative/heavy handed olli is with this project, but no idea how much or little he actually does. the fact that he is so interested in drummers talking about differences between snares and their tuning, and was even hands on in the recording process as far as snare tuning, says a lot.
Didn't know that much about Static Dress, but I am gaining a lot of respect for Olli Appleyard hearing about him talking about not taking things for granted and living for the right reasons. I don't plan to be famous or nothing. I'm gonna live a relatively normal life, but I plan to keep that same spirit for my whole life. Gotta learn to be happy where you're at and appreciate where you've came from 💯💯
they announced their headliner at chain reaction through a puzzle online and when i completed it i almost cried seeing it was a hometown show can’t wait to see them live
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, and i can tell you did too by the length of it and the laughs! Great pick of the guests too, love static dress, they have amazing energy live. Each Episode shows me that my pound is very well invested, keep it up craig! 🖤
That Matrix conversation was the best thing ever. It make me sad to realize that I just don't have anyone to have those types of conversations with anymore :(
I love Olli, MCR`s Three Cheer era was the best and his idea for the dream festival is god tier. Three Cheers is one of the top 3 best alternative albums ever.
Amazing podcast ep. The guys are really entertaining and creative with SD as a band and aesthetic. Loved every minute. Great stuff, Craig. Also happy to see My Ticket Home get some love. Criminally underrated band.
@@losingapathycoming back to this after a month, I've been listening to their music almost every day and I'm addicted. My favorite tracks are "push rope", "for the attention of..." and "sweet." Can't wait new music from them😩
This band is incredible. So cool to get to know them a bit and listen to how they go through their creative process and their philosophy around the art they make. Great stuff, Craig. The real sound v. sampled sound conversation is so important.
Olli could have said he was anywhere between 20-35 and i wouldnt have raised an eyebrow, and im sure hes somewhere in there, but now i feel like i have to hunt down the real #, simply because he denied answering the question lmfao
i standby my last comment. But i went and checked this band out after it, and f**k me, they are awesome. Make me think of what Taproot might have sounded like in this modern era, mixed with elements of underoath and converge. It' sick. Got a new fan in me.
Best Intro 🤣🤣 Edit: Home fries are the non-binary of the chips 🤣 this episode took me by surprise and made my day 🖤 I’ve been commenting this but the downbeat has been expanding my music horizon… I fucking love it! Thank you for the episode😌
I really enjoyed this episode, olli is definitely one of the most insightful characters out there and I’m glad that their story gets to be shared and laminated on the internet with such great interactions like this. Thank you so much to Craig and the SD boys for inspiring people like myself and fellow fans in the comments to put our all into whatever we love in this world.
You are one of the few human beings that I actually Enjoy watching. I love how you say whatever you want, and dont give a flyin fck how people are gonna react 👊🏻🙃
It's so funny that they brought up Austin Tx because I went to the Loathe tour in AUSTIN just to see Static Dress and they killed. Loathe was just a bonus
First time watching this podcast, it’s been on my radar for a while & craig seems like a sick lad. Couldn’t walk in download without seeing the merch on people. Proper enjoyed it, gained a long term fan here 💪🏻💪🏻
hey im looking for a band/artist olli mentionned in this episode alongside 100 gecs but i can't find the timestamp since the interview is 2h long. I looked them up but it was months ago. I only remember a music video in a house with bright colors. The lead vocalist had black lipstick (top lip) and curly hair and i remember the contrast between the visuals and the fry screaming vocals. lmk if it rings a bell ;)
2 hour SD interview. My excitement is immeasurable and my day is saved.

Ive listened to this like 5 times...what an episode

another trans man and i'm starting to pluck up the courage to wear crops top again. seeing olli being himself is massively inspiring.

I'm glad they spoke about My Ticket Home. Them and My Enemies & I would be massive now if they hadn't vanished
