      He's right, when he says "It's just as competitive as the Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga and the Champions League" he's not wrong.
      People are forgetting that these leagues are dominated by the same big clubs. The EPl has Chelsea, Man U and City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool. Bundesliga has got Bayern Munich and Dortmund. La Liga has got Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletico. Champions League has got the big Mainland European teams. So by saying that its as competitive as these leagues, he's saying that there are 3-4 teams that are dominant e.g. Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and so on.

      All 3 are established prem clubs and all 3 were battling relegation this season at one point or another. Leeds, Villa, Forest, Blackburn, big clubs have gone down. Celtic are a good team with great support but they will really struggle in the EPL. If you are not top 6 you can get relegated. Even Saints were top 6 two years ago and now look where they are. Wouldn't Celtic have to start at the bottom of the English leagues which would not be financial beneficial for the owners + Celtic get guaranteed champions league every year and I'm sure the wouldn't want to give that up for the next decade or so.

  • @DocPilkington
    @DocPilkington 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Celtic could do well in England. The main issue is that they could not just start in the Premier League, you cant just kick teams out the PL and say Celtic are coming in. If they joined the English leagues they would have to start from the very bottom so it would take them 24 seasons to climb the leagues and even get into the PL. This is because there are 24 tiers to English football (20 non-league, 3 EFL, 1 PL). Most of the non-league leagues have no TV deals so they are having to make a massive sacrifice in money to try to gain more. There is also no guaranty that Celtic would get promotion every year meaning they could just get stuck in non-league football. Is that really what Celtic would want or they could just try to improve the league around them making a bigger TV deal come in to Scotland.Before you say the Celtic squad could cruise through non-league no one would stay. If they switched to England and got put in the non-leagues every player would leave. They would rather play in Scotland than non-league England.

    They're a genuine brand. There would be a huge buzz of energy and excitement generated by their arrival in the EPL ,which in turn would undoubtedly attract big name players and big name sponsorship. It doesn't take much to quite reasonably conclude that it would only be a matter of time before Celtic would be competing on equal terms with the big guns of the English premiership.

Celtic did actually end up a top 6 team in the UK Prem there atleast. (the money was the same as the EPL is now rl). Never won a champions league but did get to a few quarter finals.

But they have a massive following and a massive amount of money and if they were to be in the Premier League they'd attract a number of big players, whilst being able to pay the big bucks for them.

    "We are good enough for the English Premier League because we drew with Man City" Plymouth Argyle drew with Liverpool whilst being a League 2 club. Bradford City beat Chelsea whilst being in League 1. With that logic, because Celtic lost to the second best team in Gibraltar, a team of Policeman and Taxi drivers who live on a rock just south of Spain could finish top 4! But that's not the case. IMO Celtic would be lucky to stay up. Without Dembele they would go down, probably in last place.

      Its not just that. Beating big European clubs is an achievement but its still essentially one or two cup games. The Premier League is 38 games. Even with big money its a very tough competitive league. Could they do that for 8-9 months? Don't think so. Money will buy a better squad, but everyone's got a better squad. And the best (mostly foreign) players go to the North West or London, so why go to Glasgow?

    They would find it difficult at first, maybe the first 2-3 seasons firstly in the bottom half above the relegation zone for their first season, but the next 2 seasons, they will be punching through to the top half maybe even to Europa League. The 4th season they would get into top 5 and stay there for 2 seasons, then try to find balance. Eventually it would become a top 6 with Celtic in it, knocking Tottenham out.

  • @AntonioYatJr
    @AntonioYatJr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I say 17th in their first season, mid table for 3 years after that, and 5 years in they could contend for Europa like Southampton or Westham, give them 10 years to be at the level of Everton and that's the level they would stay at for the most part (5-8) with the occasional top 4 finish and league title.

Sure Celtic would struggle for the first few seasons but Celtic would do the impossible. They have done it before with the European Cup (aka Champions league) Celtic are the first Brit ish team to win the title. To this day still the only scottish team to do so. Celtic would soon settle in to premier league football. Within a decade they would be contenders for the title.

    The people who ridicule our current team when asked if Celtic would be successful in the premier league are idiots. We haven't got a world class squad, that isn't what Celtic fans are arguing. We have the brand, the stadium, the fans. With premier league money we would attract big players and THEN we would challenge top 6. ATM though, you're stating the obvious saying our squad wouldn't do well in the premier league but we are bigger than most teams in that league, facts.

  • @jimjiggles1474
    @jimjiggles1474 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Celtic's current squad would see them fighting the bottom half of the table to survive. If they spent well in transfer windows, and got real investment, they could be fighting Everton for 7th space within a few years, but that could be said about any club really.

    Would love to see Celtic and Rangers in the English league because both clubs would be an asset. Think Celtic are currently high Championship standard but they would attract more investment and with the PL millions it would only take a few years for them to become a regular top 8 club in the PL. No on can argue they have the potential to be huge. Agree with some of the comments that the 1st step to trial this out is to introduce a UK Cup to replace the other cups that are losing their prestige.

    People forget that the exact same was being said for rangers during 9 in a row it's a cycle (no doubt but if both rangers and Celtic were in the Premier league were in the premier league for a few decades they would definitely be two of the biggest teams in the league)

  • @LegendNinja41
    @LegendNinja41 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    with their current squad celtic would be probably be midtable or fighting against relegation and rangers probably would go down but obviously with the money they would get playing in the premier league they would build a better squad step by step year after year. They probably would end up being at least a regular top6 team with that huge fanbase if they do it the right way, they also could end up like Newcastle as example like many said but this sort of mismanagment doesn't happen that often.

      like Barcelona, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, AC Milan...oooh I could go on all day... hear the same arguments all the time... even if Celtic gubbed Chelsea right now there'd be some excuse. So whats the usual excuse you use when they beat teams that have 10x more money. I'm not saying Celtic would win EPL at first attempt but some of these comment s are obviously from people who just listen to other peoples comments and have no clue about Scottish football. You're a sheep sir... blind following the blind. Honestly what do you know about Scottish football?

      But do all the other SPL clubs get £100m every season to spend from TV? They do in the Premier League so that's the big difference. Yes there's still the elite (like in any league) but its far more competitive and there are 20 clubs. And do you know about English football? Even with that money Celtic would be a on par with a mid level Premier League club which means they could easily go down like so many others. And unlike tier 2 in Scotland, the Championship is also full of pretty big clubs, very competitive and its not an easy league to win.

    Celtic are a huge football club. Due to their left-leaning outlook and the gigantic Scottish / Irish diaspora of tens of millions of people around the world, they have an absolutely massive support. If Celtic joined the EPL they would be the biggest club in it. And for many reasons that I can't be bothered going into detail about as I would have to write a 2000 word essay, I hope this never happens as I love Scottish football and surely tradition beats chasing money

    Never mind attracting "bigget/better" players. If we where in the epl we would be able to keep the players we unearth and develop and if we still had wanyama, van dijk and Forster we'd be a top 10 club with our current squad and budget
