Another excellent walk-through ! Very educational as usual, I too really look forward to new content on this channel. Keep them coming, please :) ! And thank you for broadening our skill level !
Interesting as always and always learning from your techniques. But a question I’m hoping you will answer. How important are the black drapes you have around the walls to prevent any flash light contamination onto the subject you are photographing?
The black drapes become more relevant as the size of the subject gets bigger. For a table top subject they’re largely irrelevant as you can always add a black flag close to the subject if needed. hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
It would be interesting to see a comparison between this technique and shooting with just a black background and then adding the final background entirely in photoshop. Does having the background there in camera make it easier to control, is it difficult to make a precise enough selection in photoshop to get the edges exactly right when adding a background?
@@CameraClubLive Right - but maybe the results wouldn't be quite as good or the workflow would be more awkward. If anything I'm looking for justifications for using a practical background rather than photoshop because doing it in photoshop seems much less interesting.
Can you recommend similar equipment that is less expensive for someone trying to create a studio? Specifically the flash/strobe shown in the video. Your help would be appreciated.
I'm seriously thinking godox 3 light kit. 1350 Canada money. Godox AD300 Pro kit, My first project would be two tall blue bottles with torches in them and blue flowers in top of bottles on a small table with a place setting for two . I'm thinking it could work.
A C-stand (or Century stand) is a metal stand designed to position lights, silks, flags, backdrops, and other tools on a set. A relatively heavy duty lighting stand. Thanks for watching.
It's so nice to set the rest of the world aside and watch another one of your videos!
Glad you enjoy it!
I look forward to this every Thursday. Always very educational. Thanks

It is entirely possible to add a background in photoshop especially with the new AI features, if that is your thing.

The Godox range is worth a look.
Im not a professional so I don’t really need expensive equipment.
In this scenario does it matter if the soft box is octagon instead of square?
The size of the soft box has an effect, but in this case not the shape.
Where did you find a gray background card?
It is mount board, available from craft shops
What is the distance between the gray board and the subject?>
About a meter

Godox AD300 Pro kit,
My first project would be two tall blue bottles with torches in them and blue flowers in top of bottles on a small table with a place setting for two . I'm thinking it could work.
Go for it.
