    Rodgers doesn't make his teammates better? I guess that's why Greg Jennings and James Jones were stars without him right? Oh wait....

    • @jordanhousel1892
      @jordanhousel1892 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So true. Rodgers makes his receivers look good.

    • @CodeinCaptain
      @CodeinCaptain 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He meant the overall team, Rodgers led the offense but the star QB's lead the team. Any good qb can make his receivers look good.

    • @blackanimelover18
      @blackanimelover18 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      CodeinCaptain Yeah because Rodgers totally doesn't lead that team at all. Without his leadership, the Packers would be sooo much better. It's not like he's carrying the entire team on his back or anything. No, that would be silly to say.

    • @CodeinCaptain
      @CodeinCaptain 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But he doesn't carry the entire team on his back.. There have plenty of stars & leaders on the Packers throughout his career.

    • @blackanimelover18
      @blackanimelover18 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CodeinCaptain He doesn't? You sure about that? What about when he had a godawful defense and godawful running game in 2011 and 2012? Who got them to the playoffs? Aaron Goddamn Rodgers. What about when he went down with an injury in 2013 and the Packers went 2-5-1, where was the "team" then? But who came back and got the team to the playoffs? Aaron Goddamn Rodgers. Or what about Week 17 against the Lions in 2014 after he suffered an injury and the team gave up 14 unanswered points? Who came out and led them to a victory on one leg? Aaron Goddamn Rodgers.
      Don't fucking bullshit me bro, if you're gonna blindly hate on someone for no reason, don't pick one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL who's literally had to carry a team since his Super Bowl win and is THE reason this team is ever considered a Super Bowl contender. Stars and leaders my ass, no one on this team is anything without #12 putting them on his back year in and year out.

    Cowherd simply has athletes that he likes to criticize and athletes that he will never criticize. He likes to criticize Rodgers yet he will never criticize Lebron.

    • @unclejoe1917
      @unclejoe1917 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The series with Boston and the one vs. Dallas and the televised bolt for Miami was a bad look, but other than that, what can you really criticize Lebron for? He's been a great teammate, he wins, there's not a glaring weakness to his game, at this point, he's probably a top 5 all time player, if not top 3. I'm just not seeing what you say about him unless someone wants to fall back on the lazy, kind of dumb ring-counting argument.

    • @brycemorrison4350
      @brycemorrison4350 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I acknowledge that he is a legendary player. But I have heard cowherd criticize rodgers, Michael jordan, kobe. LeBron has solidified his legacy but he doesn't have a perfect skill set. His biggest weakness is that He has never been a great jump shooter. He also has a low game tying/winning shots percentage.

      Bryce Morrison : He DOES have his favorites, but that doesn’t mean he is not objective when he compares athletes.
      The fact that he gives props as often as he can to those he feels are deserving doesn’t mean that they are less deserving than he believes they are.
      Likewise, the fact that he criticizes some athletes more often and more harshly than others doesn’t mean that they are less deserving of that criticism than he believes they are - or that he is being less-than-objective.
      Everybody knows Brady, Wilson and Luck are his favorites, and that Rodgers is his shipping boy. Rodgers has underachieved for his talent level, and his cupboards have never been bare.
      He should have at least three rings by now, but he only has one. There’s a reason for that: too many failures to close the show.
      He also gets moody at times. He’s a nice guy, and he is very talented, but he seems to be difficult to coach.

    You can't blame Aaron Rodgers for less team success, especially when Colin says this. His offense was great against Arizona. The coin flip and the Packers defense lost the game. No QB can make their defense better. If they could, the Saints would not be bad every year. What a QB can do is make offensive players around them better, and Rodgers can certainly do that.

    Aaron Rodgers Playoff QB Rating: 100.3
    Tom Brady QB Rating: 88.0
    AR's problem in the playoffs has not been the offense, it's been the team's defense which has let him down in late game and overtime situations time and again.
    Not sure how a QB's "leadership" translates into defensive prowess.

    • @DeCurtaRican
      @DeCurtaRican 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jared Lawatsch : He said that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t make his *TEAMMATES* better.
      He is saying that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t lead in the locker room and on the sidelines in a way that inspires players to play above themselves.
      For an example, look back at 2014-15 NFC championship game, in which Russell Wilson led his team to one of the greatest comebacks in sports history - ironically at Rodgers’ expense.
      Nobody except for the players on that Seahawks sideline thought the Seahawks would come back and win it.
      They believed because of Russell Wilson, and he convinced Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman and others that they would win.
      To his detriment, Aaron Rodgers believed that GB had the game sewn up, which tells you that if he had been in Wilson’s position he would have folded like a cheap lawn chair!
      He wouldn’t have had the wherewithal to rally his players on the sidelines and convince them that they would win this.
      Russell Wilson makes other players play better, even those players who don’t like him - which is a testament to his greatness as a leader.
      Tom Brady does that in spades.
      I think Andrew Luck does that.
      Deshaun Watson appears to do that.
      Patrick Mahomes CLEARLY does that, as does Nick Foles.
      Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton? Not so much...

    "Neither Aaron Rodger or Kobe Bryant make their teammates better"
    Yeah right. But wait, this is something we can actually test. Let's compare Brady and Rodgers, examining the success of their teams when they havent' been able to play due to injury or suspension.
    Patriots w/out Brady
    14-6 (70%)
    Packers w/out Rodgers
    3-7-1 (32%)
    Don't get me wrong, both are great QB's. But if there is one QB that you can OBJECTIVELY state makes his teammates better, it's Aaron Rodgers.

  • @lucasspear4436
    @lucasspear4436 8 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    I completely disagree. Aaron Rodgers doesn't make his team better? He's helped receivers put up numbers who didn't do squat when they left the Packers. (Greg Jennings, James Jones, for example.) He makes a team that would be one of the worst in the league without him into a Super Bowl contender every single year. Don't tell me he doesn't make his team better. AS for the Kobe comparison, again, I disagree. Kobe is a jerk. Everybody knows that. Players left, superstars left, because Kobe was such a crap teammate. When was the last time Rodgers called a jerk, hard to get along with, etc?

    • @kylemagersupp9746

      Kyle Magersupp Cleary you didn't understand my comment. Comparing Rodgers to Kobe is completely unfair. Kobe's level of "jerkness" if you will, is on a much higher level than Rodgers. Granted, people may call Rodgers a jerk at times, but he makes players around him better. Kobe was always known as one of the biggest jerks in the NBA, and never made his teammates better. Go troll somewhere else, hmmm?

    Rodgers can push and push, but if the receivers don't want to run harder, or create separation then that's on them. If the lineman won't protect him than what's he suppose to do? If Lacy is too overweight or won't compromise his health in order to win, what's he suppose to do? He's missing his number 1 guy and practically his star running back. His offensive line isn't playing well because of coordination. Yeah he doesn't like McCarthy, that's probably because he isn't a great coach. He doesn't have Dungy, Payton, Belichick, Walsh, Shula, Knoll, or Lombardi. He hasn't been blessed with a Marvin Harrison, Jerry Rice, Shannon Sharpe, or Randy Moss. He's one of few greats to never have an all time great coach or an all time great receiver. And yet he still has one of the highest completion percentages, the highest TD/Int ratio, fastest to 30,000 yards, fastest to 250 touchdowns, high passer rating, 3rd highest playoff passer rating, and a two time MVP. Oh yeah, and for everyone who hates on the Packers playoff record, breakdown what teams he lost to, why they lost, and remember he's also a SB MVP.

      Do you watch the games? They usually aren't open. And that's funny, considering he's already the fastest to 30,000 yards. So for his entire career he must be throwing it somewhere

      Or maybe the coaches should have been more like Ron Rivera. Maybe the line should have been more like Carolina's too. Maybe the receivers should work harder like Carolina's. Don't worry though, 5 of the top 10 offenses were crippled by injury this year. When things return to normal, Rodgers, Brady, Luck, Ben and Romo will put Cam back in his place.

      ikr lebron has played with MVP candidates throughout his career, kobe and pau was a unique chemistry and that whole team clicked, they took down the big 3 in boston which was a pretty hard feat to pull off when you were outmatched basically 1 superstar to 3. Pau is consistent but he's not a kyrie kevin love bosh or wade.

      Ferdinand Herrmann lebron has played with
      Dwayne wade (hall of famer) you are Hating on wade way too much. he is a top 5 shooting guard of all time, at least top ten if you want to argue.
      Chris bosh (all star, most likely a hall of famer)
      kyrie Irving ( all Star, may end up a hall of famer)
      Kevin love ( all star)
      and an old but clutch ray Allen
      kobe has played with
      shaq (hall of famer)
      Pau gasol (hall of famer)
      Karl malone (past prime)
      Gary payton (past prime)
      for the first 8 years of lebron career this argument about kobe playing with better teamates made sense. but lebron has legit played with more all Stars then kobe. and if you bring up either andrew Bynum or lamar Odom, all credibility will be lost lol.

      just because he was kind of a d!ck doesn´t mean he didn´t lead by example and push his teammates to be better. The guys he clashed with were the guys he didn´t think took their job seriously enough (like Shaq and Dwight, and I love Shaq btw). Kobe had a great relationship with Pau for example. Even by his own admission he was aloof and didn´t have many friends, but that doesn´t mean he wasn´t a leader.

    Montana is Jordan, perfect when it matters the most, a great leader and the ultimamente champion.
    Brady is Kobe, had an amazing supporting team in the beggining of his career when he won 3 championships, always had the greatest coach, a closer and a champion, but not very into media.
    Manning is LeBron, smart, a great leader, loved by the media and comercials, a semi-god in the regular season, always have to carry teams, is pretty good in the Playoffs but not as great as his former self in the regular season.
    Aaron is just like Kareem, destroy the stats, won championships, MVPs, is called the greatest in his generation, has won a championship but needs a Magic Johnson, that is yet to show up, to win more championships.

    Kobe is a leader. Sure he doesn't make his teammates better players while they're on the court, but he does make them better. Case in point, the 2009 and 2010 championship laker teams. Those laker teams had Kobe Bryant's personality. They played tough, they never gave up, and they were clutch. Those teams had their leaders on the court(Derek Fisher, Pau Gasol) but at practices and whatnot, Kobe Bryant led that team. Without that kind of leadership, that team would have never made it.

      +ThePacemaker45 It seems Rodgers is the reason they get anywhere and half the time he's limping around or getting hit like target practice.
      I am not a Packers fan, but I think Rodgers is amazing. His coach is a goof, his receivers couldn't get open, and his line couldn't block....and he still got them a playoff win and it took an OT loss for the Packers to be out of the NFC championship game.
      If that isn't amazing, I don't know what is.

    I'd say Brady is more Kobe like than Rodgers, they both won championships actually multiple championships relatively early in their career.Both are global icons, made a ton of money,played in lot of Finals/SB. Both are arrogant neither get into much trouble outside of the sport and both are relatively quiet in their private life. Both won championships with different star players.

    ppl got different ways of leading some more vocal then others. actions do speak louder then words. plus the QB is not the only leader on a team. for example John Kuhn, Clay Mathew's, Julius peppers, Jordy Nelson, Randal Cobb, Mike Daniels, and the list goes on, and that's just one team. I think it's about connecting with ur team mates and keeping communication flowing.

    Apparently Colin has never hung with some of these NF players. Most are not what you call uplifting or inspiring. I'm sure Rodgers knows and does what is best for himself, what makes him the top athlete that he is, and doesn't do the things he knows or suspects would drag him down and not help aspire him. It's called intelligence, recognition, commitment, and a lot of other good things, and it all combines to make him above average, far above average, at his chosen profession. Life is less about finding yourself, and more about creating yourself, and what a creation we have in Aaron Rodgers. May he keep on doing what he has been doing.

    Rodgers is the leader of both the team and the offense, he makes each and every person on the team play better. This is mainly due to the fact that if he is on the field, you always have a chance to win. Even when your down for 60 minutes, he can just throw a hail mary and it's all good.

    Whoever thinks Kobe wasn't a leader should just read what his teammates from the 2009-2010 runs had to say about him. His drive inspired everyone to be a better player and he elevated a very good team into champions.
    Also, it's quite clear he doesn't like Rodgers. Where exactly is Brady's leadership? Between him crying to the refs for flags and him screaming at assistant coaches, I can't see it.

      I think people get mistaken when they say Kobe wasn't a leader. He WASN'T. But, he became a leader in 08-09-10. Phil Jackson said himself that Kobe struggled to become a leader til an older age whereas he saw Michael as a leader immediately as 1-2 year pro, but MJ had matured in College for 3 years. I don't doube Kobe wouldn't have become a leader if he opted to go to Duke for a few seasons and came into the NBA more mature. But, he didn't. He came in too young and was a spoiled, narcissistic brat and stayed that way through til his late 20's.

    First off, Rodgers makes everyone around him better than they actually are. Greg Jennings and James Jones have proved that. Jordy Nelson is not an elite athlete, but he excels like few others have because of Rodgers. I just don't see where this is coming from. Rodgers has been criticized in the past (honestly just Jennings who wanted to come back to the team after being terrible everywhere else) for not accepting blame. Greg Jennings' main complaint was that Rodgers was so good that any dips in performance was placed on him and the receiving crew. Watching this season, I wholeheartedly believe all blame should be put on them. I don't know if I've watched a football player throw the ball away as much as Rodgers has this year. He runs away from pressure because no one's open and then has to throw it away because none of his receivers could get separation in the 8 or so seconds h buys them. It is quite literally the exact same thing that has resulted in the dip in productivity from Brady over the last several weeks; a weak receiving group barred by injuries. This was really a stupid point; Rodgers is GOAT type of talent held back by poor defenses, plain unluckiness (Seattle), and a more competitive conference (let's face it, it's the Patriots vs. Peyton's team most of the time). Enjoy him while he's still playing.

    How can you say he does not make his teammates better. Jordy Nelson does not become one of the best route runners in the NFL if Rodgers didn't push his receivers to get better. You don't score the most points on free plays (offside penalties) without commanding the offense and having everyone doing there job. Look at the Top 100 players segments from the past couple years and you will see other NFL players respect and admire Rodgers. Unlike Kobe, players want to play with him. He has never had any drama going on that detracts from the team. Colin's comments come off as extremely biased. He can compare him to Kobe all he wants. Kobe is an all time great that will garner the respect from the basketball community long after he is gone. To say he does not make his team better is just stupid. Way to show your hate Colin.
