Saw him in Belfast, Northern Ireland years ago, pre illness. The band blew the roof off. Thank God Walter survived. As a liver transplantee myself I know what he went thru. God bless you Walter
The man is obviously playing great and having fun..and thankful to be doing so after what he's been thru...keep rockn ..and enjoy Walter... Yaaa man!!!
Not many people can make a Strat sound like it's pleading for its life. Even God coaxed and cajoled a sweet sound, among others that flirted their way around that legendary piece. This guy ain't taking prisoners. When you show a Strat no mercy, there isn't a better sound coming from any instrument l can think of. Walter is a man infused in a legendary lineage, just listen to that man wail.
Now this is what I’m talking about. Some real deal raw shredding. Kids today don’t realize the fun doesn’t even start until you get on stage with a band in front of a crowd.
Wow! The drive is good. Annealed drive-like, in a rocker style. In a midnight, bluesy, and even British sound. Swung, wow, swung ...))) Yes, I myself swing in a similar manner at jam sessions quite often. Familiar guitar playing style, texture and solo phrasing. Yes, so many are rushing)))) And perfectly shakes the crowd. Thanks! It rocked well)))
just discovered this man today heard of the blues breakers but never listen to him what a god of feeling i have perfect pitch incredible player i will buy every cd he ever made
Get well soon Walter! Your family and fans miss you and look forward to your return. We all send our best prayers to you and want you to know that you are greatly missed! So, take good care and return to us soon.
@@tedmarakas2626 Right on Ted, words worth remembering. Although i'm not new to the blues just widening my perspective on it, on the flip-side thank you for the memories ted.
One of the best guitarists John Mayall ever had. First of course The Great Peter Green and then Walter Trout, Mick Taylor and Whittington and then Montoya y Clapton. Greetings .
That's my ex-baby!!!! Lived with him 7 years i Huntington Beach. He is just playing the same as he did 25 years ago. and when he was a kid in Milmont Mew in Jersey! He was always accused by some blues purists as playing, wait for it....too many notes!! Nice vocal Sammy! Sammy awesome on the Hammond hell Steve Marriott recorded playing one!!
It's a given that for a blues guitarist he does play WAY too many notes! I enjoy listening to him anyway. But he would sound better if he would slow down, breathe, and play the fast runs more sparingly so that they would pop instead of becoming wallpaper.
See WALTER TROUT in the most intimate setting. At Spot 1 he's upclose and personal, not a bad seat in the house, great sound, great food, and plenty of free parking. Hey hi from Sonoma!!!! I love ya Walter!! Damn Walt, scare the shit outa all of us. Ed gave me the low down with your horrible disease. They keep me informed about you Walter. Much love coming you're way, my friend!! 🥰
I just talked to him yesterday (I am friends with Marie by the way) check out his other band Supersonic Blues Machine with Billy Gibbons et al!!!! Unbelievable. He's going to be touring with both! My dea, my dea my dear. Haven't lost a step!
Tried to record Walter Trout in 2000 at a local blues festival, but he sent a roadie down to take my video camera from me. That didn't work out so well. I am so glad he’s doing well, but he was a real jerk back then. Look at all the video cameras now!

See 80's guy down below says "Is this a metal song or a blues song". From me below (Blues purists..."Too many notes") See I rest my case. He got that from both sides ALL the fucking time in the 70's and 80's. I just hope everyone enjoys his playing. And yes Hungywolf Freddie's is the best. I had the album this was on when I was 17!!!
Despite his age and experience, Walter still falls into the trap of playing too many notes, distracting and detracting from the music. This is why the most memorable songs, solos, and guitarists of all time, are not given to shred. Knowing when to burn, and giving space between notes, letting it breathe a bit creates music that lives in people’s minds. There are thousands of guitarists who play like Trout.

It's HIM. It's Walter. Only the best.

Walter has to be right up there, great guitar player and showman.
OMG This guy is fucking fantastic, i'm hooked on it now, Walter you've got it going on here in Phoenix, Az.
Walter Trout was a guitarist for John Mayall just like Eric Clapton and Buddy Whittington. These older guys are no joke.

Love these 'Ol Butt Rockers!!😂
Who's that younger guy that was singing? The one doing the screams
Turn it up..lol !!!!
My kind of funeral music.
Best version of this song is by an Australian band called Rose Tattoo with Billy Thorpe
In my humble opinion Freddy King’s version of Going Down remains the definitive version, despite the best efforts by many bands.
Josh Rogan
Jeff Beck' live versions blow all them away.
Freddie King hands down
No contest. Freddy first, SRV second, then daylight to the rest.
@@bradnelson4778 SRV is a hard contender, but the Original is ALWAYS definitive! :)

For my taste Walter plays way too many notes but I like his singing on Help Me and Rock Me Baby
