I got some of the Hunkydory papers as a freebie sometime ago and didn't know how best to use them. This is a great video. Thank you so much for a wonderful idea. Nice to know that even the experts develop their ideas as they go along. Makes you think that we've all got a chance of doing something lovely eventually. I've only been making since Christmas so haven't done much yet - but they are getting better.
Hunkydory Is a really good place to start. I always recommend them to newbies in craft Beginners always seem to want to start with the not quite best stuff while they learn but I say if you use not so good products then you get not so good cards. You can go really simple with Hunkydory and because of the quality it still looks great, Check this one out to see what I mean and thank you for your lovely comments:- th-cam.com/video/CL4rV46FfQA/w-d-xo.html
I love your demonstration so calm with clear instructions. I love that I can do it from scratch with you. When everything is prepared it means I have to constantly pause/go back. So much appreciation for your on the spot demo. Thanks Patricia
I like to show the actual crafting process which includes the cutting, glueing etc, I cut a little of it out otherwise it would be so long but try to keep the essence of it being you watching me make something not watching me just put it together, it that makes sense. Glad you liked and thank you for your lovely compliments. Do make sure you hop over to the website, there is a link under each video which takes you to the corresponding blog post where you will find lots more info inc loads of photos :-)
I LOVE these Vintage ladies in their BIG HATS! Love them! I have seen people do all kinds of things with the cards......It came out j ust beautiful Amanda. Thank you for sharing...
Oh me too, I love all that vintage style. Did you see the photos I posted of a cross stitch I made for my mum of a lady in soft green and she was the same artist as this cards images. I think the cross stitch kits came first and then they made them into card kit images. I think it was shown on my blog but if not on instagram xx
NO I didn't see that, Amanda, but would love to. I Love to Cross Stitch too, and the ones that are finished are Christmas Hummels..One I have been working on for over 10 + yrs because I forget about it, pick it up and start again, go back to making cards etc...I have made several other things but nothing as intricate as these. Also, my grandmother, Tora, (Tori) died when my mother was 3. Her sister, my great aunt gave me her last cross stitchings..One was of the American Flag,(and it is a finished piece almost 100yrs old) and the other was flowers she never finished, just done on a very fine but small piece of cloth. I treasure both of these as we have nothing else of hers. My mothers step mother got rid of everything..(I think my grandmother might have been working on that last piece when she had to stop. She was having her second child and died right after childbirth, in the hosp, no less..and then the baby (a boy) died 8 mos later.IT was during the Depression..My g-pa was totally devastated...beyond devastated. Sorry got off track, BUT COULD you possibly send a pic of it to my email? I would love to see it. I have tons of Vintage Images on my Pinterest Page..I will tell you where they are when you email me, as this got quite long...SORRY bout that...I am not on instagram..I don't even know what that is...hugs. v
Gosh what a story, that must have been dreadful for your grandfather, But it is amazing what a legacy a few stitches on a piece of cloth is. As for mine, here is a link to the blog post I did on it www.lollilulucrafts.co.uk/2015/01/mixed-media-stitching/
It was horrible, I can't imagine. I didn't know him very well..He and my mother weren't on good terms, but she should have never kept us away from him.I have letters from him and I keep them and read them. They mean a lot to me and my grandmothers cross stitch pieces do too..Thank you for giving me your link..I am going there now...
I just went to your site and tried to leave a comment but it wouldn't let me... :( Anyway, we have the same taste! I have the exact pattern of the Singer Sewing Machine and I want to the Woman in the HAT...I am going to my local Cross Stitch store soon and get all mine out and start it up again. I Loved it. I forgot how much. It is relaxing when I am watching, or listening to tv...Thank you for sharing them with me Amanda, I put them on my pinterest site under cross stitching..They are lovely. YOU did a wonderful job!
Lovely card! TFS. When I make my easel cards, I fold the opposite way from you so that the lilac would be all on the "front" of the card. And I always mat each part of the card, including the bottom, back etc with matching paper. Happy crafting all!
Thank you, and I vary how I fold depending on the card Im making. In some cases, like your saying I think, Im covering all of the front so the lilac was nice to have shown on the back. In this case, when you see the close up the lilac acts as a mat to the card I added to the base layer so hence why I did it this way this time. Hugs and thx for watching xxxx
Your card is fantastic. You did such a great job. I didn't know about the glider when you were putting it on but it turned out making the card from great to fantastic. Loved this will like getting stuff like this from hunky-dory. Thank you
Thank you glad you liked the card and so nice of you to take the trouble to say. However I am assuming it is a spell check error or me just being dopey but what do you mean by 'Glider' ? thanks xx
thank you so much betty - are you a new subbie ? I don't remember seeing you on here before or rather don't remember seeing you comment before and now I have had a couple of lovely comments from you :-)
+Maureen Williams It seems to be a lot of peoples fav colour but strangely not a colour I really go for much and yet it seems to be a colour I keep picking ! go figure! lol!
such a lovey card , I have made it for my sisters Birthday. be honest igot a bit stuck what to do with the cards,,. so I am so pleased that I found your site. some lovely ideas too, thank you.x
Rose Borkett ahh thank you Rose. Would love to see your version of the card, if you are feeling brave do go on over to my Facebook and post it there for me. You can find my Facebook and all the rest (which I try to keep them unique so you will find things on instagram that you wont see elsewhere for e.g.) also my web has a non video post once a week too so its worth popping on over and taking a peek, thanks for your lovely compliments and welcome :-)
Ahh welcome and thank you - do make sure to go across to my blog. All the recent videos will have a link to the post in the para below the video - click show more and you will find it under heading corresponding blog post. Def worth looking as usually loads photos and details of products used etc. also there is lots more on the site too to look at. Hugs and thanks again xx
Lovely Amanda, would you tell me if your score board, has the trimmer attached, because if it is I have to have one!!!!! In fact I can't live without one, what a great idea. Many Blessings Pat
Patricia Treslove Yes it is all included. There is a link above in the description or you can go onto my post and get the link from there. It is by we are memory keepers and I have gone through a lot of trimmers before inc Martha Stewart and this is the best and so far has avoided my dustbin! lol!
Wish we could get Hunkydory collections here in the states. I have watched Create and Craft UK and envied the beautiful collections from Hunkydory. Maybe Create and Craft US will carry the line soon. I hope so. Meanwhile you do beautiful work.
Thank you for this video..now I Love to knowing now how to do easel cards. Wondering tho, why you covered up that gorgeous purple paper? I'd have done all on the white side, and when the recipient opens the envelope, they would see that gorgeous purple thru the acetate as well as the rest of a pretty backing... love the detail button and glitter. Well done! :-)
Thank you, and I did the it that way around becasue if you look carefully - and maybe not so obvious on video, there is a small border around the next mat that I put down which meant there was a lovely mat of purple accenting that floral mat. I really wanted that accent of lavender around that floral mat it really did look so pretty in life with that there. If you use the link in the para below the video and go to the blog post you will see some photos and maybe get a better idea of it :-) hugs xx
+Maria Archetti Oh I know what a idiot! I forgot I had changed it over and then oops! but luckily they aren't too expensive although this was nearly a year ago and I have not got around to getting another one and have just been working around the cuts hehe! :-)
Sue Im sorry Sue it was missed of my supply list - I have corrected that now. But it is actually a product I stock as it is my desert island item. You can find it www.lollilulucrafts.co.uk/shop/crafty-goodies/pinflair-glue-gel-kit/ if you are not in the Uk you will find my shipping costs are really good, and sometimes if you add more items you still pay the same as it is a weight band. You can check shipping before you commit yourself as well. Hope that helps :-)
+Doris Pettengill It came from Hunkydory's own magazine. When you buy the magazine you get a free kit however they did sell this kit on its own too if that helps so you don't need the magazine to get these toppers and card :-) www.hunkydorycrafts.co.uk/my-fair-lady-deluxe-card-collection-dcc112.html
Yes sorry I understand it is no longer available which is why the link has died lol! But hunky-dory are often re vamping a collection into new colours etc so still worth keep checking out - best place is prob create and craft xx
+Jonie Isenberg thank you, but no I wasn't unprepared per se. I don't prep all my elements before the video I personally don't like my videos so sanitised and prefer a more casual natural fee. I would start knowing say in this case that i wanted to make an easel card using these elements and also the acetate. But I would not cut everything all out in advance and get it all set up ready to go. So I knew what I was doing but was just keeping it nice and relaxed. Thanks though, Amanda :-)
The acetate backing behind the frames really makes this card stand out with the added glitter touches!
thank you, it seems so long ago since I made this and it is nice to be reminded of cards past :-) Glad you enjoyed x
