Well, coming up with a jogging route that didn’t cross the path of any bars would obviously be out of the question. Get something strong, and you can feel twice the burn.
Class of 84 checking in… this is epic rock from the 89s! My generation had the best music genre to do whatever we wanted with and we all still have these tunes in YT playlists, in ITunes still, probably a dvd, cd cassette tape. We cruised the main drag in small town Kansas listening to ing to stuff like this!
I remember when MTV played music videos and this song came out. These kids today don't know music like people growing up listening to Van Halen and other big hair bands. When Eddie Van Halen played guitar he was a God. R I P Eddie Van Halen 5150
To put 1984 into context, music like Jump was for the first time visually available (songs began appearing on MTV starting in 1981). Musicians were jockeying to get air time exposure on both radio and TV. Those were some great music years. You could both hear the music on the radio and also “see” the group’s interpretation.
Like others I too was 16 when this song came out. They've been my favorite band my whole life, so this song has a lot of meaning and great memories for me.
I was 16 years old! What a great song! We were so lucky to grow up in the 80s! They were one of the posters hanging on my bedroom wall. Look at that hair! I can't believe over 40 years have gone so quickly. Wow!
😂I was a young adult back then and I can’t begin to tell how many times this was cranked up at parties, or cars driving by, etc! So enthralled with Van Halen and still to this day! Was driving by myself out of state to my daughter’s wedding when I heard Eddie had passed away and I cried for 4 hours, could hardly see out of the windshield. Very sad day! RIP EVH!
1984 guys. I lived in the South side of Detroit. 8 mile Janeiro on Exeter street. So I spent that year tripping on tripping on Mescaline smoking weed drinking singing singing in a heavy metal band that played the clubs of Detroit. Having lots of fun and this song was definitely one of my favorites
Yeah! I was 19 yrs old when this came out. Yeah, rockin with Eddie and Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth! Boy! A whole lot of memories. Awesome reaction!
I went to all the backyard parties in Pasadena... before they made it big... The Van Halen's lived a few blocks from me.... knew them when they were still called Mammoth.... we partied
For those who don’t know the closing guitar riff is the guitar riff that Eddie used for standing on top of the world. You should check that out and compare.
I was 13 when this came out and it was literally the song of the summer on every radio station. I'd already fallen in love with Van Halen and while this sound was different, I loved how it still showed how much they love the fun of music.
I heard David Lee Roth say in an interview the thought of the word JUMP for a song originated because as he was driving one day, he stopped to see what a big crowd was looking up at. It was a guy standing on a high ledge and the police were trying to talk him down. Finally, David Lee Roth said the crowd began yelling "JUMP."
Heard it the first times as a kid in the 80's on the TV channel "Eurosport" where they sometimes ran an in-between-programs video of race cars flying up in the air and crashing. With this song as the background theme. In sync with the "Jump, Jump". Wasnt until much later I realized that wasnt the actual video of the song :)
David Lee Roth always mixed the martial arts into his performances both with Van Halen and during his solo career. Seeing Eddie Van Halen here (The guitar master) pulled a tear or two out. His guitar playing will never be matched. R.I.P Eddie.
I was 11 when this released and watched the video on MTV millions of times. My favorite time was on a Saturday morning eating donuts and drinking chocolate milk and my buddy Gary's house.
Hola soy nuevo por aquí en su página, es primera ves por aquí y si me gusta la dinámica en cuanto trasmiten y reaccionan a la música,Se ganaron un seguidor 😃🖐🏻 mucha suerte para ambos 👍🏻
Even at parties in the 90s at our school parties, they always played this song when nobody was dancing and BAAAM... dancefloor full of people 😂 And Eddies solo ist simply great and him laughing all the time during this video, so cute 🤩👍🏻
On MTV in the early 80s they had a contest every Friday night between two videos. Van Halen won something like 10 or 12 weeks in a row before got beat. Just a fun video!!!!
If I recall correctly this was shot at EVH's studio, and rumor had it that the band spent more on beer than the actual video. Probably explains why everyone looks so "happy".
I think this is one that pretty much everyone has heard, but really listening to something can often be a different matter. I’ve also had my share of “oh, that’s what this song is” moments before, because I had heard it somewhere, but had not really listened.
I was 18 when this came out. It was a magical summer, we had all the music. I was in the best shape of my life, Rocky III, Conan, Judest Priest Van Halen heavy not so heavy and chick music.
Hi Suzi and Travis Yes the best old school days Van will always live Play some more Suzi like I said you are the best on this channel Have a good evening and see you guys the next day by the way love your Jean that you are wearing. Love you xoxoxoG.
After David Lee Roth left Van Halen for the first time he went to school to become an EMT in New York City. I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC, trip on a curb and break your leg, and when the ambulance showed up - out jumps David Lee Roth! I think I probably would have had a heart attack and died. 😄 He also is a black belt in judo.
I thought he left and started a band with Stevie Vai, Billy Shehan and Gregg Bissonette....recorded 2 albums with them......(I thought)......I remember him becoming a EMT though....the late 90's....
I am a musician (drummer). This is one of the first, and hardest, Van Halen songs I practiced and learned to play. Than I attempted the other two 💎 s on this (the 1984) LP - Panama and Hot for Teacher. I nearly broke my ankles trying to 😮 play the double bass part during the intro of Teacher. As much as I admired and wanted to be like Alex Van Halen his skills on up tempo songs were a bit much for a beginner, at the time, like me. Instead I studied the song I'll Wait instead.
First time viewer here. I'm 51, so obviously Jump brought me. But I do want to say your channel is bad ass and I will be subscribing and listening to your own music!
Not sure how you could have missed this song. They play it in every sports bar, casual dining restaurant, and grocery store (at least in SoCal) even in 2024. One of VH's biggest radio-friendly hits - and the end of the original VH sadly.
Please try 'Hot for teacher' by Van Halen. That MV is perfect. I'm Japanese. I was a kid in 1984. I thought Van Halen is great and american girls are so beautiful.
Eddie Van Halen was Dutch and his parents are from the Netherlands. Van Halen in Dutch means “more fun” in English…..well…not really but that is exactly what you get when you listen to Van Halen…..More Fun !!!
Actually this song brings sadness to me. Because it was the End of Van Halen with Dimond Dave aka David Lee Roth. He is the perfect front man for a rock band. He's having a great time when he is in front of a crowd or a camera. Dave has a unique way of talking during the songs that made it fun to listen to.
Travis & Suzy despite the happy vibe of the video this is the song that broke up Van Halen. The singer David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen battled over having keyboards in Van Halen's music , Roth didn't want them & Eddie did. Eddie obviously won and the song had massive success. Roth dipped out after the tour for their 1984 album.
Great stuff! I’d like to see you guys react to some Doobie Brothers-like Long Train Running, China Grove. And please take a listen to the Beatles “Oh Darlin”. I think you will like these. Enjoy!
If you went to high school in the late 70’s early 80’s Van Halen made your life tolerable. A new VH album was released every year from my 8th grade thru 12th grade. Every morning before classes and at every lunch period someone in the student parking lot would be blasting Van Halen!
The perfect high school memory is seeing these guys at a backyard party right before their first album came out!!!
What!!!??!!!!???.....how could you make it this far in life without hearing this song!!!???!!! It was HUGE!!
Depends on your age … 😂
HUUUUUUGE
Huuuuuge Jackman!!!😅
Yep. I agree. I feel like i say that alot to younger idiots.
ICONIC!!!
I listened to this in highschool! In 1984! I'm 57 now! It sounds just as good as anything I've heard since!
Back tehn we all jumped for sure!
Diamond David Lee Roth was an INCREDIBLE front man!!! Great acrobatics, and great scream. The best I've ever seen. Excellent reaction.
A David Lee Roth quote.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept coming out of my glass.
Love it.
Well, coming up with a jogging route that didn’t cross the path of any bars would obviously be out of the question. Get something strong, and you can feel twice the burn.

Can't help feeling a little sad for everyone who didn't get to experience the 1980s!
I remember when MTV played music videos and this song came out. These kids today don't know music like people growing up listening to Van Halen and other big hair bands. When Eddie Van Halen played guitar he was a God. R I P Eddie Van Halen 5150
Everytime he sang "might aswell jump" the whole dancefloor jumped in unison! 😊

VH has been my fave band since i was 14. I'm 55 now. Rock on!
Still sounds as fresh today as 40 years ago.
I was "old" compared to the kids hearing Van Halen for the first time! (23 years old, to be precise!) But, it still dragged me on to the dance floor!
I was 16 years old! What a great song! We were so lucky to grow up in the 80s!
They were one of the posters hanging on my bedroom wall.
Look at that hair! I can't believe over 40 years have gone so quickly. Wow!
I was a bit older about 19, insane it was 40 years ago.
comeon now in the 70's we had posters of farrah fawcett, crystal gayle and cher
@@jeffreygreerHard to decide best, the 70s, 80s, 90s were ALL great!
I’m 61…too many stories, lol. This song, I had a wreck on the way home from ladies night listening to it, lol. Not injured, but nearly totaled my car!
61 here too lol
Love it, one of my favourite bands growing up 👍
😂I was a young adult back then and I can’t begin to tell how many times this was cranked up at parties, or cars driving by, etc! So enthralled with Van Halen and still to this day! The '80's were SOFAKING Awesome to be a teenager in...Life was Great!
Went to the VH 84’ tour concert and had an absolute blast. Been fortunate enough to see VH with David Lee Roth twice and Sammy Hagar twice.
Just pure audio fun, a sonic jetski, can't hear it without smiling

"Jump" was used as the 'theme' for the 1984 Chicago Cubs.
For those who don’t know the closing guitar riff is the guitar riff that Eddie used for standing on top of the world. You should check that out and compare.

I first heard Jump exploding out of someone's dorm window as I was heading back from class in Spring 1984. Feel good vibes from the get-go.
I was 21 when this came out. I bought the album at my college bookstore when it was released. Such a fun song!
Those were the days! Saw them 4 times. Such fun guys at this point in their career.
Ohhhh that gorgeous hair!! Happy happy times!!!!
David Lee Roth always mixed the martial arts into his performances both with Van Halen and during his solo career. Seeing Eddie Van Halen here (The guitar master) pulled a tear or two out. His guitar playing will never be matched. R.I.P Eddie.
VH still rocks today ! RIP EVH … Running with the devil was my favorite
Memories and groin pulls😢 limping for weeks!!
the best songs ever 😮😮😮😮
That split in the beginning is absolutely insane
I may have only been 10yo in 1984, but I jammed as hard to this song as any teenager at the time!
Van Halen con esta rola se volvió icono Rock😁🎵😲
From way deep down in Southern Oz we LOVE The Wolf Hunterz PS: We have a type of Wolf here but they call them 'Dingos'
What take you so long to react to this incredible Band. R.I.P. Eddy and rock on in heaven.💖💖💖💖
Great song from my childhood.great reaction
David is a martial artist, he has been training in kenjutsu since he was twelve years old, and also practices kenpō and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Thank you for another great video reaction!❤
Even at parties in the 90s at our school parties, they always played this song when nobody was dancing and BAAAM... dancefloor full of people 😂

OMG I was 12. That was a great time.
Whenever I want an uplifting song, this is my go to. & David Le Roth is a maniac. 😂
How can anyone not know this music ? LOLOLOLOL , so funny !
I was 13 when this album came out. 13!!!!
"Finish What You Started" is the best raunchy video...and in stylish black & white...with a very good Sammy Hagar.
Great Reaction
Love these two, such a beautiful natural lady. Love a bit of VH.
It was big in the UK too ❤🎶
This started my lifelong eargasm with VH. First this song, and Hot for teacher. So the rest of the back log.
Diamond David Lee Roth a great front man. RIP Eddie Van Halen one of the greatest guitarist's of all time. "You really Got Me" 🎸🎤
Hi Suzi and Travis Yes the best old school days Van will always live Play some more Suzi like I said you are the best on this channel Have a good evening and see you guys the next day by the way love your Jean that you are wearing. Love you xoxoxoG.
Whenever I hear the name "Van Halen", THIS song and video comes to mind. This is what Van Halen means to me..............
House party song in highschool and Club Days dancing yeah 😎🎸🎸🎤🥁🤘😝🤘
After David Lee Roth left Van Halen for the first time he went to school to become an EMT in New York City. I think I probably would have had a heart attack and died. 😄 He also is a black belt in judo.
Forgot to mention, David Lee Roth at one point also became a nationally syndicated conservative talk show host with his own radio program.
I thought he left and started a band with Stevie Vai, Billy Shehan and Gregg Bissonette....recorded 2 albums with them......(I thought)......I remember him becoming a EMT though....the late 90's....
Dave is a student of several martial arts and holds black belts in 2 or 3 of them.

40 years old, now !
Perfect Friday song
I remember listening to this song in University. We all got drunk as F.
Huge #1 Song! Van Halen with David Lee Roth was my favourite.
First time viewer here. I'm 51, so obviously Jump brought me. But I do want to say your channel is bad ass and I will be subscribing and listening to your own music!
They use the beginning of the song for "jump-ball" situations at a lot of NBA games. So, you might recognize it from that.
Not sure how you could have missed this song. They play it in every sports bar, casual dining restaurant, and grocery store (at least in SoCal) even in 2024. One of VH's biggest radio-friendly hits - and the end of the original VH sadly.
Critical listening 👂
I was front row at a concert hearing this song. David Lee Roth was wearing pants with a clear ass. Always fine, lol.
” Ever been to Olympics? Thats me in the backround. ”
- Diamond Dave
Please try 'Hot for teacher' by Van Halen.
That MV is perfect.
I'm Japanese. I was a kid in 1984.
I thought Van Halen is great and american girls are so beautiful.
Late great Eddie Van Halen on guitar and keyboards!
Eddie had the sweetest smile
The start of the song was the start of the movie 'Ready Player One'
Eddie Van Halen was Dutch and his parents are from the Netherlands. Van Halen in Dutch means “more fun” in English…..well…not really but that is exactly what you get when you listen to Van Halen…..More Fun !!!
5:16 some movies have also used that intro.
The Chicago Cubs TV program used to use this intro in their opening of the broadcast, one year only I think.
Ready player one!!
You guys would have a ton of fun with their song Ice Cream Man.
Rumor has it that Van Halen spent more money on beer/booze during the shoot than how much production costs were.
🔥❤️
I heard that Eddie Van Halen had such stage fright that for the first couple of years he played on stage facing away from the audience.
Happy birthday alex
Travis & Suzy despite the happy vibe of the video this is the song that broke up Van Halen. Look for sina drums on here. She is German & does drum covers, she did this a little while ago & it was near perfect
Used in the Olympics jump
WOW whose that chick next to you. Ok ok don't get excited.
You guys look great. Something is going good for y'all 😊
THE 1980S WAS A BLAST
GREAT MUSIC 🎶
VAN HALEN

This would be my favorite Van Halen solo if it was longer🔥🔥also I think Alex Van Halen is a very underrated drummer👍🏼
I jumped in the Dancing school 1992

Now you guys need to watch the Sci-Fi movie "Ready Player One".
