This channel is to help you to repair electronic devices and to share knowledge
No one is born with knowledge it acquired and gained through experience
Have collected and worked on audio and video electronics since the 80s. I'll touch on this. A few things here that are just all wrong in the attempted repair. But I will save all that and just touch on some key things. I myself would fully become aware of said unit inside and out before a customer repair. Nothing wrong at all with learning I just like to do it on my dime. Trust me I blew up many things in my time also. I do give you much credit for wanting to dive in on this unit. I myself stay away from such because for the most part it is a pain. They make all so it is trash and buy again. I like more vintage stuff where a mixer board fader is plug and go. Now to the fun part. I do have that controller just the gold ed. I Dj and have although this new age stuff is a hmmm to me meaning I like it and I don't like it. Some things you was not aware of I picked up on in vid- the Pioneer DDJ- SB3 original released in March 2018 I recall right. It is a Dj controller used with Serato or Virtual Dj software. A account I recall must be created to verify controller and user. The full unlock use is a few hundred dollars to use. The SB3 comes with Serato lite which can be used at a low end function software unless upgraded ( paying ). When you set up for controller and software there after is alot of settings. Settings that need done to audio and all else for controller. You also have to put music on the software itself etc. So I doubt you would of got far from where the video ended at the time. That and the way the control knobs was set. A few was set to cut the audio out more less in short filter to name one. These controllers and the software are packed to do alot. Frankly after years I am still learning that. So the controller today retails at about 230 to 250 USA dollars now. To the cross fader and the fade slide CH 1 AND 2 - when I seen the bottom cross fader apart I knew it was toast. When the contact legs become bent at all or wide good luck on getting that perfect again. Because on a cross fader that needs to be perfect or there will be audio static and cut in and out. Appears to me the customer was a bit rough. Looks like the controller as a whole had the lick. Proper care and a can of Deoxit Fader lube every so often would of helped. Lastly- Soon as I seen you was not aware of the knob locker I was yelling no do not pull lol.... So Pioneer has what is called- P-LOCK. Which is the white plastic you removed from the inside of slider fades. On the right side just slide the locker up. No need to do both sides. If you do not you very well can break the pot shafts or bend the fader and legs. Which I do question if that is reason the bottom cross fader legs got mangled. Many do not but I see you did catch on fast to them P-locks and removed. That was well done there. I been there and done that with the P-locks. The knobs- they do make knob removers. It is two with curve end. Works a charm. Because yes those knobs are on there tight and one risks the damage to shaft etc. I solved all that for down the road with mine. I had changed the knobs to color knobs. I removed the factory ones and they was tight. Never again so I Q- tipped each shaft a tad after with lithium grease. So next time will be a breeze if need be.
Hey Mahn
Awesome video and has helped me a lot.
Although I just want to know where you bought the faders
Especially the crossfader(The one you checked 1st)
Thank you
Hello, great video! A question: could the Pitch Fader be replaced with a longer one or added in parallel as an external unit?
My question is purely technical and does not concern the aesthetic aspect, but only the feasibility from an electronic functioning standpoint.
Can you replace the stock ddj sb2/3 gold crossfader with an innofader ? Thanks
The volume sliders on my DDJ SB3 have become real glitchy lately. Pioneer thinks its an issue with not getting enough power from USB but i had it six months before the problem even started
@Byron Kennedy My thought only. Just attempting to help in the issue based on my own doing. Which is collecting and fixing audio and vid stuff since the 80s. Based on I have the SB3 gold ed and use it for 2 years now. Along with many other older and newer mixers and controls. Slides and fades will loose the grease over time. Dirt and all else will build up inside a control. Now if some one pokes around inside to spray the wrong cheap stuff you got issues. Alot of cleaners will act as a build more to dirt. You will get a no smooth move. A audio cut in or out as you slide. The fade will not fade all out and stay audio on a ch which can be herd. Alot of other stuff. If and I say if the sliders are not damaged in any way ( mainly the contact legs ) there is proper maintenance to maintaining this issue of fades and slides. " we " old timers and vintage audio collecting use something we strongly back. It is the Deoxit family. Now there is many things in the family and you have to use the right ones for what. You do NOT want to use a cheap 3 buck can of CRC spray at Wal-Mart. You WILL damage it. You do Not want to cheap out. So the Deoxit family is not cheap but trust me it is worth the invest. If a vintage collecting person backs it on a 4 grand unit serviced then that says alot. Many will back that know. Answer-- get 91% alcohol nothing less... Flat end of cue-tip and coat in that. Stick the q-tip down in slides till you feel it hit the slide board. Moved tip back and forth lightly about 3 times. Repeat with new q-tip. Put the slide in middle and get new q-tip with alcohol on it. Clean the far left and right of slide. Now when I say q-tip do not buy junk buck tips. They with get caught inside of slide and create issue. Buy wooden sticks if can. So now you have cleaned the best you can aside from full break down. At this point you stripped the glide grease. So that slide is going to feel junk and sloppy. Another words no pull to it. You have two options here. Grease it which is best but is a pain with Deoxit Fader cream. I myself do it. I also use the spray which is- Hosa CAIG. Use it because it is the best friend here. So pay to play and buy it. Put slide in middle and spray with DEOXIT FADER F5. Do NOT spray much at all. Does not take much. Work the slide fully left to right about 6 times. Leave it sit a hour. Let me know what you get..... Side note- unplug controller from any cable and any power. Do above clean. Wait a hour before you plug back in any cable or power. Again the DEOXIT spray does NOT take much when you spray it. So don't coat the inside to death or you have problems. In any event this is what you should do every so often when you have these controllers and other stuff. Most and I say most times all that needs done is a right cleaning. Which should start often. My take is in right cleaning- if you cheap out and do not use Deoxit you are 99.9% going to trash it in the long haul. So that is my time. Sorry long but I must detail myself for better understandings to you in what you are doing. So you need this and thank me later- www.ebay.com/itm/184589895768?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143230%26meid%3De8a35b32458a44138f8618458f8352a0%26pid%3D101224%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D373549257765%26itm%3D184589895768%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWeb%26brand%3DHosa+Technology&_trksid=p2047675.c101224.m-1
What are you using to display meter??? Thanks...
The right side buttons not working on mine. Lights up but when you press it does not do noting. Left side is good. Do you guys think the board is broken?
how to can you .......... i have some problem with my ddj sb3
Ya ima just buy a new one 💀
What is IPA I hear you mention it through out this video?
I had a feeling it was isopropyl alcohol, and a quick google search on "IPA soldering" gave this result: For electronic printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, you will find isopropyl alcohol being used to clean flux residues from recently soldered circuit boards or in PCB repair and rework. IPA is also used to remove solder paste or adhesive from SMT stencils.
👍👍👍
Do you know of the faders on the Sb3 and SR2 are interchangeable? I have both. The SR2 fader is glitchy. An I hardly use the sB3. Was thinking about trying to swap them out until I can order a new one ??
