Man, I really enjoy and appreciate your style of vids, include content for everyone from average Joe second hand collectors to the Boutique obsessed like myself. We have many collector habits in common. A long video about my favorite hobby is relaxing and I look forward to more. Always let us in on all your secrets! I've been ordering from Shout for years and never knew they had a membership program!
I appreciate the feedback and very humbled. I will be sure to add more longer videos into the mix, more people have mentioned liking the longer format. I promise I won’t drag a video out just to do that haha I plan a monthly video that might work with a more detailed or go into some depth on a topic. Glad I mentioned it almost didn’t figuring most people knew about it!
I am subscribed to so many physical media channels it’s stupid. But you are the most informative of them all, and you seem to be a really cool guy so bless you.
I’am humbled brother, I never thought anyone would want to watch these videos and I’m grateful for the feedback. Thank you I am the same way in real life that I am in the videos I truly do love movies and love talking about them. Feel free to follow my social media; my main focus is TH-cam, but for the most part the dms are open a better way to have a conversation sometimes. I’ve made lots of friends on this internet journey.
I just recently discovered your channel and subscribed. I really enjoy this content and seeing how I am new to this scene I especially appreciate this video. I started collecting last November and I am hooked. I really want to increase my knowledge of all the aspects of this industry. It definitely is overwhelming, talking about boutique labels, directors, film used, formats, aspect ratios, color grading and on and on. Keep up the good work because it is very helpful to people like me. Thanks!
Welcome to the club, I’m always learning too! If you aren’t already watching my Saturday live streams either live or after the fact. That is a great place to be it’s a more laid back conversation every week, and we go over what is coming out and everything movie related.
18:35 I have a couple hundred to a few hundred Kino Lorber movies too and I make a point of NOT creating an exclusive Kino Lorber section on my shelves due to the boring black uniform spines (other than the slipcovers) because it would be so tedious to search through those black spines with white lettering to pick out a particular title, so I generally organize my movies by genre and then alphabetically which helps to spread out my Kino Lorber movies among other movies from different companies. :)
@@TorontoJon I used to do that when they were all down stairs in the movie closet; a better system for sure. Since I moved all the boutiques to the movie room I’ve had them all in the same section and easily passed by when searching for something to watch. Probably like you said boring. I tend to only go there if there’s a specific movie I know I want. Easy for reference and videos but not for enjoyment. I’ve been thinking about moving them back downstairs. Since we’re moving about this time next year it’s a lot of work to reorganize. Btw Kino’s winter sale is on I just placed an order; I may need to reorganize anyway 😂
On the topic of premium editions being "unnecessary" or "over priced", I don't understand those complaints from people. If the standard edition is available, why would it bother someone that a premium edition is available? I don't have a lot of premium editions, but I love the few I have.
@@TonyThompson1981 I don’t get it either brother, but just the comments I get people get really upset about it. I can see why some were upset about the Neverending Story set, but that was an Australian release anyway. We still never got a 4k here and a few years ago there was a standard German edition. I don’t buy every movie in a premium version just my all time favorites. Haha I’m still buying VHS for a dollar. Honestly I do see where some people may just buy this stuff for the sake of it, not me I buy what I love. I don’t own a single premium set that I don’t have an actual connection with whether it be a good memory or nostalgia. Collecting it self isn’t for everybody and not everyone is going to look at it the same way we do. Someone told me the other day that it was ridiculous to care about packaging and all he cares about is the movie because that’s what he watches. I always wonder when I get those comments why don’t they just ditch the physical media and just stream it?
Good video maybe you can do a video on how to tell if a bluray player is region free or not because any time I try to look one up it's always either a super expensive player or no info on if it is or not and I mainly use my Xbox Series X for blurays and so far a lot of the importe I have work fine but in the future I'd like to have a region free player at preferably $150
Thank you! I made a video demonstrating how mine works and in that I explain the how to change different regions. There aren’t many players I know of that will do region free some people can get their Panasonic players or LG players to do it by tricking the systems. I bought mine from 220 electronics and they hard modify them so updating doesn’t mess anything up. The have players in every price range and as low as 100 dollars. Here’s the video th-cam.com/video/aDKbdSYsfw4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a1DrpBg7oUtMxef9
Man that sucks! I don’t have either of them so I can’t say. I wanted to grab that Martyrs, I’m going to pick one up asap. Could totally be the transfers, but I know some people have reported some differences between players and certain releases. Also some people have had issues with some 4k players trying to force Dolby Vision on a standard Blu-ray or dvd causing them to look horrible.
Just weird man sorry you had a bad experience. I’ve never come across that I’m going to grab both umbrella releases now. I bet it does I’d be more than mad about that.
