- Meet Karen Walker - Grace's hapless, only slightly useless assistant. Starring Megan Mullally in her break-out role.
From Will and Grace Season One Episode One, "Pilot": Will's poker night is disrupted by a distraught Grace. He advises her to break up with her boyfriend permanently and she sets off to do just that, but returns having got engaged to him instead.
From Will & Grace, a sitcom set in New York City that focuses on the relationship between Will Truman, a gay lawyer, and his best friend Grace Adler, a Jewish woman who owns an interior design firm. Also featured are their friends Karen Walker, a demonically alcoholic socialite, and Jack McFarland, a gay actor. The interplay of relationships features the trials and tribulations of dating, marriage, divorce, and casual sex; as well as comical key stereotypes of gay and Jewish culture.

Karen's voice was better later on. It added so much more to the character.
Characters evolve because television is real life.
This reminds me of The Nanny, her voice was not as strong in very early episodes.

Why didn't they ever spin off Karen into her own series? That could have been wickedly and viciously funny!!!
Because funny characters in a sitcom are funny because of the way they relate to the rest of the ensemble. If you take them out of their "setting", the fun is gone. Look at "Joey", the spin-off of "Friends" - absolutely terrible.

Megan Mullaly could have absolutely pulled of her own spinoff, but then that spinoff would also require the rest of the WAG cast in order for it to have the recall value of WAG. So it would just be WAG. Although, I would absolutely watch a Karen and Rosario show

Personally I think grace should have made Karen a silent partner and then hired an assistant that was actually good at what she did. Better set up and Karen gets to perform the exact same workload as though nothing has changed.

Grace should have walked away from Will and Karen years ago, kindly, but permanently. It was all toxic for her, and the writers ultimately agreed, they separated them so they could make lasting homes with others.
*back to Will & Grace - I recommend combining them with Dharma & Gregg, getting rid of the women and having Will & Gregg together and happy 🙂*
