    This scotch is my favorite, and I drink it with just a small splash of cold water too. One of the only scotchs I will add water to, and it really opens up the flavor profile. Are there any similar scotchs that you would recommend? Cheers!

    Good review guys.
    The only Glenlivets I enjoy are :
    Naddura and 18yr

    Thanks for the review guys!! The Livet 15 can't hold a candle to the Glenfiddich 15. If you ever feel like getting a another expensive Bottle, the Glenlivet XXV is really something special.

      Ouuu....4 bills....hmmmm, forget the bottle...pour it in my hand for $100? Now your task is to find the movie reference there... :-)

    I'm a fairly new Scotch guy. I have tried Balvenie Double, Glenmorangie 10, and Glenfiddich 12 and 15, Also all the regulars like Ballantine's, Johnny Red and Black and Dewars. I also like bourbon, best I've ever had was Woodford. So far I have yet to find a better Scotch than this Glenlivet 15. I want to try Dalmore 12 and Macallan's 12. Still trying to find the perfect Scotch that doesn't break the bank. Any idea's based on my tastes. I don't like peat and smoke, I prefer creamy.

      The GlenDronach 12 is a really nice bottle that I think would be great to find early in the scotch journey. The Dalmore 12 is nice and rich and we started out on Macallan 12 and enjoyed it quite a bit. Deanston would also be a good one that would fit your profile. Those should get you started but don't be afraid to take a chance on a bottle you aren't familiar with. It may surprise you.

      Thank you gentlemen. I think I haven't researched GlenDronach yet. Sounds interesting...

      It has a pretty strong following and we haven’t tried a bad one yet.

    It's a good entry level scotch meaning easy to drink 🍹

    Sadly the best bottling of the Glenlivet range, in my opinion, was the 16 year old Nadurra Cask Strength. The "sadly" part is that the distillery dropped the age statement last year and released three cask strength replacements without age statements (meaning they are much younger than the old 16 year old). The 16 year old Nadurra was the perfect way to showcase a more mature Glenlivet while the cask strength ABV allowed the distillery flavor profile to shine.
    That said, I've seen some good reviews on the NAS Nadurras and the three (a sherry finish, a ex-bourbon cask, and a peated cask finish) may be a good way to showcase Glenlivet's different flavor profiles.

      That's the problem with NAS, there usually young whisky and you can taste it. They want to pump out more NAS young whisky, which means more money for them.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fact is this is the direction of the industry....like it or not. We're not opposed to NASs, but to us it all comes down to taste. If it's an NAS but tastes good...who cares, but there are many times we as Keith mentioned you can taste....guess the lesson is, hold onto your old bottles boys!

    This Glenlivet 15 is basically the Glenlivet 12 (aged strictly in ex bourbon casks) that is aged for an additional 3 years in French Cognac casks.

    Scores seem low for this offering. Wonder what they would be now.

    Too much sweetness and spicey i think.
    If it would be less sweetness it would be better. I didnt like it.
    Glenlivet 21 is just superb!!! The perfect one.
    Livet 18, the new bottle feels weird and different taste like liter than the olders( i had 3 and its not the same). Woild be happy guys you to make review and telling me if im write or not.

    So this is just over 50%? I like your videos but most of your videos give the same mid range ratings. Can we see more which you rate really highly? That's the reason why a lot of us watch these videos to see if we get value for money. I'm not going to buy a whisky which is just ok

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Point taken Gary....I don't think we really get too hung up on the # from the rating as much as the actual perceptions from each of us. Our initial hope was that with 4 unique palates viewers would gravitate towards one or another and pick up on what that "Dummie" had to say about a particular scotch.We do try to take $$ into our discussion for the very reason of value and it has impacted a ratings # a time or two for sure.I understand your comment about "not going to buy" an ok whisky...but if the price is right why not? Heck I always have a bottle of JW Black on the bar, just for the simple fact that it's under $30 and it's pretty good (dare I say "ok"). Now, if $$ wasn't a concern....I'd probably not have any JW Black on the bar....but unfortunately, often times I have to drink "ok" whisky because I can't afford to drink great whisky every time I feel like a nip!But, we do understand that on a scale of 4 it is some what difficult to differentiate, especially not using quarter ratings...but that's why I'd like to think the actual review is what really matters...Appreciate the comments Gary! Thanks, ~Mark

    Yep, I have this bottle with just a little less than half left and I won't be hitting it anytime soon. Will leave it for my guests. Paid $50 also. The 18 year is much better. This has to much oak on the palate, to sharp and spicy for me. I feel the same with the Glenfiddich, skip the 15 year and go straight to the 18 year. I give the the Glenlivet 15 a 1.5 score.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      NICE, love the score...not for what it is, but that you gave one that fits our limited range! In regards to the Fiddich 15....are you speaking about the Solera or just the 15? The Solera is pretty darn good! Of course the 18 SBR is much better...

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm talking referring to the Solera. Is there another Glenfiddich 15 I'm not aware of??

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope....could have sworn there was another 15 finish out there, but thanks Keith show displaying just how dumb I am.... :-P

      Hey we all learning. What I believe is the Glenfiddich 15 Solera wasn't always called the Solera. I remember liking it better 5-10 years or so. I'm not 100% sure though. Now there is the Glenfiddich 15 yr Distillery Edition, is that the other 15 yr you are talking about.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you offering me an opportunity to save face? LOL. I'm not sure exactly which one I thought there was, but for some reason I just swore there was a regular 15 year (non Solera) in the line up. Heck, there probably is somewhere, but doubtful I've ever seen it....lol.~Mark
