  • Today I learned this song by the great Woody Guthrie as a sad note to myself of what so many good people are about to witness as they are swept up in the chaos of it all. Day one has arrived and what is surprising to me is the amount of people in the Latino community that voted for this convicted felon and what is about to happen to them and their loved ones. You are all in my prayers!
"Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)" is a protest song with lyrics by Woody Guthrie and music by Martin Hoffman detailing the January 28, 1948 crash of a plane near Los Gatos Canyon. Guthrie was inspired to write the song by what he considered the racist mistreatment of the passengers before and after the accident. The crash resulted in the deaths of 32 people, 4 Americans and 28 migrant farm workers who were being deported from California back to Mexico. Woody Guthrie was struck by the fact that radio and newspaper coverage of the Los Gatos plane crash did not give the victims' names, but instead referred to them merely as "deportees"
Maybe this new administration will spark the creative side of artists to bring to light the wrong things that deserve protest in their art as well as the good things living in America brings. I've always loved this country and would never leave it but have always been concerned in the direction politics take it. I will always search out the facts and stand up for what is right and speak out for what is wrong! Peace! #goldenmusemusic

There were still no names at the mass grave in 2010...thanks to Tim Z Hernandez...he raised money to put up a large stone with everyones name...he even included the flight crew.
