- Sky News host Sharri Markson reveals Caroline Kennedy has been dividing her time between Australia and the United States as the ambassador spends more time away than her predecessors.
Ms Kennedy has already made at least five trips between the two countries as she fulfils her role as United States Ambassador to Australia.
The White House and State Department are understood to have no concerns about the amount of time she is spending in the United States.
Ms Markson noted that there is no suggestion these trips weren’t “worthwhile” or were not for official purposes.
“Her supporters say she hasn't missed any significant bilateral event and she can have a bigger impact on ensuring AUKUS is a success if she is in the US rather than in Australia,” Ms Markson said.
“They say she has a status that is not that of a normal ambassador and that Australia is lucky to have someone who has this unprecedented access, including the ability to get the President on the phone.
“But others are critical of her approach that has seen her spend so much time away from Australia.”

Just whistling in the wind here but the whole Assange saga and making a US embassy in Australia a casual employment job are just two more examples that prove the more dependent the US encourage us to become the more resentment and contempt they feel about us being dependent on them. We really need to find our own path build our own house. It has taken most of the last 200 years to remove ourselves from a subservient dependence on England an American dependence that demands total obedience is not an improvement.
