I was thinking about getting a new phone, since the one I am currently using is very old and outdated. Right now I have a Galaxy S4 and I have it since it came out, never broke it and it still runs smoothly. I like to be as efficient as possible, so I've put a lot of time in researching. I want the best quality per price phone that I can get within a resonable small(ish) budget. I am willing to spend 350 euros into a phone. My first thought was the Galaxy S6, since it was on sale, but upon reading some articles about it I found out that it wasn't so great, and there were definitely phones out there for that price. Then, I was interested in the Galaxy A5 (2017). One my friend has it and told me he's very satisfied with it. I almost bought it, only to find out that in two weeks or so the Galaxy J7 (2017) will come out. I didn't want to wait that long to wait for this to come out, but damn, it was worth the wait. The J7 (2017) is cheaper than the A5 (2017), but it's better. Here's why: it's got a (slightly) bigger and brighter display, it's got a bigger battery (from 3000 to 3500mAh) and, since it came out after the A5, newer Android. Now sure, it's cameras are slightly smaller (from 15MP to 13MP), but considering the PROs, this CON doesn't bother me as much. If you're like me and need a new phone, yet don't want to spend more than ~350 euros or $400, get the Galaxy J7 (2017). You'll enjoy it and definitely won't regret it.
I would get an s7. You can get an unlocked certified refurbished one off of Amazon for 369 USD so 316 euros. While the j7 pro might be a better buy over the s6, The s7 has many improvements such as cameras and micro sd support. The s7 will also get one more major update (Android O).
The J7 (2017) has both better front and back camera. Also, J7 (2017) is also going to receive the major Android O update. The only things better on the S7 are the default storage and RAM.* edit: *and also MicroSD, wops. Still, I would rather buy a J7 (2017) than an used S7. The only thing that would make me buy a S7 would be a huge sale.
Ok, well at the end of the day it's up to you:). I just personally am not a fan of midrange devices (partially due to a bad experience with LG). Flagships get better support from the manufacturer, app developers and you will find more help forums for them. The s7 is faster than the j7 pro and I believe that although the j7 has the higher megapixel count the s7 has a better sensor. You could probably find a new s7 in your price range as well
