Fighting the weather, daylight and extremely hard graft may be slowing Dan down. It doesn’t matter. Dan is still determined, brave and succeeding against all these factors. Progress is progress however slow. Stay strong Dan. 👍🏻
Wow, restoring the Chateau, creating an ornament and fundraising for Movember along with daily family duties it has been a very busy month for you Dan. Respect!
As a frenchmen I'm sad we need a british guy to show us what work is. I'm sad that few times a year train driver unionists are on strike because they are tired of spending their days in the comfort of a cockpit, sitting on a chair and think they deserve better wages. Those lazy people should work freely on the château. They would learn what life is. Do you get it ? This guy is rebuilding a master housing ALONE ! As a low wage worker in can't give money but I watch carefully each videos, have subscribed and click on thumb up.
Well done Dan! Your ornaments are sold out! Great for you, not so much for those of us who missed out! Such a pretty ornament and looking forward to seeing other keepsakes!
The ornament looks great. So nice to see how cosy and comfy your yurt is. Im happier knowing you can retreat to some creature comforts after you have worked to very hard. X
Your focus and relentless dedication to this project is a lesson. I know that there is a dependence of the promotion of this channel to earn money to fuel it, but I must say that is is one of the most entertaining and captivating to follow. I love it, and look forward so much to each step. One day off and I feel disappointed. Its a wonder to follow.
Sadly I missed out on the Ornament 😢 but pleased for you Dan it sold out. Was not surprised. To all the lucky people/supporters of Dan's who were able to acquire one enjoy and how special. Love following your channel Dan. All the best.
I love this channel. Look for your post every day. Its a small ray of sunshine when ever I see you. Amazing skills Dan. I too ordered the ornament and I never put up a tree because I live alone. But I will treasure the Château ornament. Keep safe. Keep warm. Monica from Canada
Your dedication to the task inspires me immensely. Your creative drawing helps those of use who lurk from the TH-cam sidelines to visualize where you're going with the roof. Super progress.
So sad that the Christmas ornaments are sold out. I was wanting to buy one for our English teacher, Mrs. Tysinger. She had a mini stroke abour 2 months ago and had to cut back on her classes. I took her American literature class, and she was using the first video from this series to inspire the students to write a narrative fiction about this place. I have been hooked on this project ever since. I would really like to get a souvenir for her from the chateau.
You are the best teacher Dan. Love the explanation of the roof via the drawing. Can I just say that your camera skills are second to none , even providing 7 different angles when mixing the mortar, You draw us in and then we’re hooked. Great progress ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I liked the view of the top of the wall and it’s width. This was the first time I could really see how thick those walls are and made me instantly more optimistic of the success of the project. I’ve always been rooting for Dan but was worried about the structural stability every time I saw the wall shed a few dozen rocks or bricks. But wow is that a thick wall!
I still usually feel like he's trying to shine ####, but hopefully he's getting enough money from the views & advertisers to support him and his family. And I'll be happy to be shown I'm wrong. LOL
@@faragraf9380I don’t know but I’d be surprised if the French government would allow a certification to occupy without an inspection during his renovation??
Greetings from the U.S. (Washington State) Dan. We so enjoy watching your progress on the Chateau and jumped to make sure we were able to get our Christmas ornament! We are big fans of yours and are sure to watch every video.
Just ordered my ornament hope it arrives before Christmas. We are from New Zealand and have watched since the beginning. You are doing an amazing job wish you could get some more help.
Wow! The top of the walls look amazing. I cant believe they cleaned up so well and now provide such a solid surface to build upon. You’re doing an amazing job Dan - just don’t get sick in the rain mate.
You are the definition of perseverance. You looked so defeated yesterday, but today you were almost giddy when looking forward to the roof. Keep it going!!
Dan: I’m always amazed at your persistence on working on this unique project, especially alone. And you have time for creating a Christmas ornament? Unbelievable! Carol from California
Great video, I now understand the roof and it’s going to be fantastic. Great merchandise ❤ and love the peek into your yurt home. It looks very cozy . Beautiful
Got my order in for my Chateau de Chaumont Christmas ornament. What a great idea Dan. I just love your channel & am amazed at what you have done thus far. You have caught the attention of people around the world. Wishing you nothing but the best as you continue on your Château rebuild journey. Have a great weekend & as always, be safe….. xx 😊🇨🇦
Way to go Dan. I think seeing what great shape the granite stones are in has brought a spring to your step. You seem much happier today! Am looking forward to receiving my ornaments! Thanks for doing that 🏰❤️
This has been so very cool to watch the process of your renovation of a ruin. It did not look possible in the beginning but by gosh you have showed us otherwise! I am so exited to see the end result. You give me motivation to finish my basement Lol.Great job you have done so far !
Hi Dan, kelly from Canada here. I do hope you read this or are already aware of what I am about to say. Working in most facets of construction I have come across new builds where the wood both walls and floors were saturated with water via heavy rains and snowfall. The wood wicks up so much moisture it swells alot. Sometimes its not very noticable because it swells more or less equally. Please expect this to be the case at your build. It will take considerable time for your beams and substraits to dry to a point where it will not hinder cosmetic processes. Eg. After appliying wall board and wall compound, if moisture is still preasant, once completely dry it would have shunk and compressed and bowed your work. If you are not sure about moisture levels at site please consult someone in the know. I have seen projects, not of my doing, go horribly sideways, after drying causing considerable expence, safety concerns and tenant disruption.
Solid advice. However that’s why he’s really wanting to get the roof on, and why he’s used steel beams. The floor boards he’s using he’s said are temporary. They’ll be replaced once the roof is on and the site is water tight
My boys love ya build and drawings plus the dogs. I’ve worked on sites with no roof and the joy when ya don’t get bloody wet drinking your brew makes the slog all the more satisfying 👍💪💪
The pups are growing like crazy! Good to see a little glimpse of yurt life in there as well. Great idea with the ornaments too! edit to add...the ornaments are sold out! Well done sir!
The top of the wall was surprisingly in good condition. I presume, before adding a weighty roof you need to complete all wall stone or repairs and mortar the ends of the joists into the stone walls. Your yurt looked cosy! Nice to see the dogs.
Oh Dan, I want to thank you for all the hard work and video content of your channel. You bring back so many memories of me watching my dad work when I was little. You should always put a moisture barrier between wood and stone work. Even with a flashing in the long term damp will get into that wall.
