Followed step by step with all the proper values and settings. Your patch looks clean while mine looks really messy. Still looks like a patch but very messy.
If your thread scale is too large (even after scaling to maximum)- simply type in the scale you wanting the number field nd hit enter. it can scale higher than 1- just not on the slider, it must be done manually.
3:25 I'm sorry, but this seems like a totally open-faced recognition that the UX is not user friendly - you are literally describing how to circumvent an incomplete feature in the UI.
Nice video, The input drop downs on the embroidery are not present in the 4.0.1 version, how do you drag the materials to the emroidery layer in that version ??
So, I've tried these exact same steps but I've noticed that when you bring the material to SP it doesn't carry the height "displacement", it is flat when you look at the embroidery from a side view, different from what happens when creating it in Sampler. Any idea of why I'm not getting the displacement? (I've applied like a decal as suggested in the video, not sure if this is the reason why). Thanks in advance.
Is the height channel not exporting for you? Make sure to enable it in the Sampler export dialog (with Send To it should come along). In Painter, make sure to enable the height channel on the layer. If those are on it's just a visual setting: Painter does not enable tesselation and Displacement by default, you have to do this through the shader settings, open the shader settings with the ball icon, scroll down, increase tesselation and height.
I get an unwanted outline with thhe png image. It should just be a logo but I get the empty exteripor part when I use the material in substance painter as a height map.
This tutorial is just what I needed but I have one issue, My scene has a base material on the boot which has some height details and this is coming through my patch logo. how do I get an anchor point for the patch alpha to mask the boot height details?
You can change the masking mode from height to another one, Opacity Blend for example. You'll have to balance and adjust the height well though, it can look weird if you don't
@Adobe Substance 3D I got a problem when i add the embroidery effect. It only works on the edges a little bit and nothing happens in the rest of the drawing.
Might be a late answer, but I had the same problem. Turns out Sampler was using integrated graphics instead of my Nvidia GPU, you can change it in the Nvidia control panel.
New to Sampler. I have a high-end PC with an rtx3800. That being said, I highly recommend switching to a lower resolution like 1024 always while you’re working. If your computer is being loud or slow, this is always a good fix. Is there a default setting for that in prefs so I don’t have to change it manually each time?
You have a point, but with hardware these days (and especially an RTX 3080), no need to always go down to 1K unless you want much faster visual feedback. 2K really works fine for most materials. I did check and each new material always defaults to 2K, but stores the change afterwards. I'd recommend you not worry about it and just let the 3080 do its job ;)
when I am importing the PNG (exported from illustrator according to the parameters described min 1:00) & applying Embroidery filter I just get a greyed bumpy image of my design instead of the colored embroidered sample. Cannot identify what went wrong, can anybody help? thanks xx
Does it do this with every PNG ? It's worth trying a few different ones, even the files from the tutorial would be a good idea. that way you can figure out if your export is wrong, or if there's a problem with Sampler's filter in your case. Also the latest Sampler version lets you use SVG files instead of PNG, worth trying it out!
To anybody having issues: make sure your PNG's are exported correctly. 8 bit RGB color PNG with transparency. Also Sampler will probably only play nice with up to 4096 px wide, if you have files at 6K or higher resolution, you're not winning quality anymore. I haven't been able to reproduce this issue at all, and have not gotten enough info from anyone with this problem, so I'm still guessing.
Might be a late answer, but I had the same problem. Turns out Sampler was using integrated graphics instead of my Nvidia GPU, you can change it in the Nvidia control panel.
UNFORTUNATELY, as of 2024, the embroidery plug in is broken, and doesnt work nearly as good as it used to- i cannot get the same results I used to back in 2020.
Hi there! If you need any advice on that, come on down to the Forum & ask our experts about it. Let’s have a conversation here: [adobe.ly/3UucceS] ^Rohan
I've followed this video three times now and each time my embroidered product looks like a ball of yarn. You also haven't given the 7 other people who have had the exact issue any idea as to how to fix it.
Did you use the provided files? It really takes only 3 steps: drag and drop PNG with transparency, pick "use as bitmap" template, dd Embroidery filter. Then just tweak the embroidery settings. Nothing has changed since this tutorial was made. If ypu are using your own bitmap, check if it has proper transparency, make sure it's 8 bit RGB color (and not CMYK or grayscale mode), and it should be fine. Just compare with the bitmap files we provide you.
have you found the solution? im having the same problem. the thread looks plasticky and not exactly like one shown in the video. ive even tested with the files adobe provide
@@Substance3D I used 2048. but luckily I have solved this issue by increasing the embroidery scale value past the default maximum value of 1 - which I didn't know it was possible to do. Super happy with how my woven crest logo with embroidered backplate turned out. Thank you!
You literally took the time to copy and paste it on every video, pretty sad over a logo. I mean I get it--Adobe's program icons are really badly handled and pretty lazy. But even so--pretty sad, lol.
@@TheUnseenBlade_ Yeah, I'll give you that one. You can tell they really don't give a shit anymore over at Adobe when they can't even put effort into a program icon. Who the hell wants their icons to resemble an eye chart?! Don't even get me started on wanting to squeeze an additional $40+ per month out of everyone. @@yokhanan Well sure their icons are dull and lame, but that's likely intentional. 3:16 I genuinely laughed. The original Alchemist UI team had a nice solution with the color picker function. You should probably steal that too.
They are telling you that they ruined the software for more cost
I don't get it... most of what he's showing is not in my most recent version... the color callouts? Nope... the circular fill? Nope.

Agreed, we're working on it! I'd love to hear any suggestions by the way.
