If you really like his music, you should learn Afrikaans. There are other Afrikaner artists who make music similar to his. You should also see if the appeal for his songs isn’t just in his music but in the sound of our beautiful language. Apparently Afrikaans is the easiest Germanic language for English speakers to learn, so you should give it a go in your spare time, even just 30mins study every day on a consistent basis would be enough.

I've just watched the English version of this film called "Blood and Glory". As an English man, I have to say that I am deeply saddened by the way so many Boer women and children perished in the camps. The film itself had me rooting for the Springboks team, and I was hoping someone got religion and shot that bastard Swannell.
It is one aspect of humanity. Nobody has a monopoly on good or evil. Every nation and race has both for those who care to understand unbiased history. As a Boer I'm also proudly a Brit citizen today to give my family a chance away from that mess. And remember for the bad that happened (lost family in those concentration camps too), we also had great English Boer fighter's and hero's, one of which we build a monument to: Emily Hobhouse.
I stand abandoned along skeletons Bony fingers pointed at me Here between dust and soot and hate Stand the devil by my side Everything is gone I lost everything In the ground bleeding man's actions For what lies below our earth In the name of war murdered My heart and my soul was trampled in those mud and blood Now Arise now unite for your people and your country perish here Inform yourself as a man of the dust and sand turn yourself back to God find your soul and your heart in those Mud and Blood in those mud and blood Now I stand here Fell on my knees And I know what I should ask him now Be the fire and the steel in our bodies To defeat the enemy's hatred My heart and my soul was trampled in those mud and blood Now Arise now unite for your people and your country perish here Inform yourself as a man of the dust and sand turn yourself back to God find your soul and your heart in those Mud and Blood in those mud and blood Only the devil strong his actions For a killer's hatred For just a wicked world Killed his children in the evening.
There's only one thing worse about staying in South Africa and that is leaving it. The grass is not greener, and I can't get back no matter how hard I try.

I think it's a lovely song, but I see it more inclusively. I hope the best of white and black South Africans is what goes into the future of the country.
This was a war (1899-1902) with many dimensions. Some of the related facts are often forgotten over time, such as: Boer weapons: These were plentiful and modern. German support provided the Boers with the latest Mauser rifles, 155-mm Creusot fortress guns, 37mm Maxim Nordenfeldt guns, and plenty ammunition. Boer forces: Were supported by foreign volunteer fighters. They formed their own volunteer corps and came from Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Russia, Poland, Georgia, and Sweden-Norway-Finland. Blacks: Who worked on the Boer farms, were put in detention camps. Based on the Fawcett Commission report, about 20,000 black people died in these camps.
Despite foreign vols the two rebel Republics the Free State and Transvaal were the smallest and newest nations on Earth standing up to the biggest Empire in history outnumbered 20 professional soldiers to 1 Boer or vol armed freedom fighter.
As for weapons they were not given free- the Boere paid for them, they were unlikely to be sold Lee Metfords or Lee Enfields by the English so they bought Mausers which were better.
I know it's 7 years later, but while your comment is insightful, I feel it's a bit misleading. The volunteers were at most a few hundred or less from each of those countries, and often they just provided medical aid (ie. didn't fight). Their support is still dearly appreciated though. The weapons were advanced, but the Boers had to buy them. They weren't given anything for free. What the British did to black people is striking though. The genocide they perpetrated on Boers is inexcusable, but at least they were the empire's enemies. They really just killed tens of thoudands of black people because they couldn't care less.
Broeders Afrikaners, hou vol! Wij staan aan jullie zijde! Liefdevolle groeten uit Vlaanderen!

I love all the Bok van Blerk videos and songs. I just so wish that he'd put English lyrics to them.
Nooit...en ek bedoel NOOIT sal ek skaam wees vir waar ek vandaan kom of wie my voorouers was nie.
Sal verewig trots n BOER wees!!

Olles is wech olles falore? I understand this bok and i am palatinate german. I LOVE AFRIKAANS! I wanne learn it. Even if ya all are gone we care for to save your home tounge and let its survive in other cultures. Afrikaans is so nice a love it and its different to netherlands after 500 years its a own language and for me in ma ears much more nice as dutch. I speak paladin touge(extreamly rare palatinate germany the offspring of modern german, english, netherlands and many many other europe tounges) . Even our prime language die so we know how it feels. But i learn your language to teach others. Afrikaans is too nice to die. Dw we are millions of hackers and i share ya vids. And bok... ya vids tell me all even if a do not understand all.
Hello to you from south Africa.. I cry your people
I watched this movie, cried a lot, this is the history of us Boer's. Is there an English version of this film. Thank You.
Soos " My fathers war". gedoen vas, A complete English version! Does this exixt?
I've just watched the English version of this film called "Blood and Glory".
As an English man, I have to say that I am deeply saddened by the way so many Boer women and children perished in the camps. The film itself had me rooting for the Springboks team, and I was hoping someone got religion and shot that bastard Swannell.
It is one aspect of humanity. Nobody has a monopoly on good or evil. Every nation and race has both for those who care to understand unbiased history.
As a Boer I'm also proudly a Brit citizen today to give my family a chance away from that mess. And remember for the bad that happened (lost family in those concentration camps too), we also had great English Boer fighter's and hero's, one of which we build a monument to:
Emily Hobhouse.
vet mooi muziek
I stand abandoned along skeletons
Bony fingers pointed at me
Here between dust and soot and hate
Stand the devil by my side
Everything is gone
I lost everything
In the ground bleeding man's actions
For what lies below our earth
In the name of war murdered
My heart and my soul was trampled
in those mud and blood
Now Arise
now unite
for your people and your country perish here
Inform yourself as a man of the dust and sand
turn yourself back to God
find your soul and your heart
in those Mud and Blood
in those mud and blood
Now I stand here
Fell on my knees
And I know what I should ask him now
Be the fire and the steel in our bodies
To defeat the enemy's hatred
My heart and my soul was trampled
in those mud and blood
Now Arise
now unite
for your people and your country perish here
Inform yourself as a man of the dust and sand
turn yourself back to God
find your soul and your heart
in those Mud and Blood
in those mud and blood
Only the devil strong his actions
For a killer's hatred
For just a wicked world
Killed his children in the evening.
Ek voel trots🤝

There's only one thing worse about staying in South Africa and that is leaving it. The grass is not greener, and I can't get back no matter how hard I try.

Taneli Do My many thanks I have waited so long for these words. I understand most not all of the lyrics in Afrikaans. We were migrants to South Africa. I passed Matric Afrikaans and my family and teachers were so proud of me. My Mother and two sisters lie dead there now. How can one love and hate the same thing at exactly the same time? Agaon, thank you for the words of this great and remarkable song.
marian hunter this applies to me too. Lived there for so long and miss it terribly. Know I'll never see her again.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

I think it's a lovely song, but I see it more inclusively. I hope the best of white and black South Africans is what goes into the future of the country.
My moeder was st.helena toe ons het die photos van die boere wat daar begrawe is. Baie hartseer
Daar was +/- ses DELPORT's broere van dieWes Transvaal op St Helen as gevangenis.
Bull shit
I know it's 7 years later, but while your comment is insightful, I feel it's a bit misleading.
The volunteers were at most a few hundred or less from each of those countries, and often they just provided medical aid (ie. didn't fight). Their support is still dearly appreciated though.
The weapons were advanced, but the Boers had to buy them. They weren't given anything for free.
What the British did to black people is striking though. The genocide they perpetrated on Boers is inexcusable, but at least they were the empire's enemies. They really just killed tens of thoudands of black people because they couldn't care less.
Nice!
Hi all where can i get the song called: Voor ek my kop neer le by Bok van blerk? and Hou jou foete op die grond my seun??
