John Coghlan had left QUO in 1982, so the QUO you saw in 1984 wasn't the 'proper Quo' as you call them.
Keyboard player Roy Lynes 1965-1970 thought he was playing in the 'proper' Quo or the 'proper' Spectres.
The delusional Francis Rossi thinks that every Band Line-Up is the 'proper' Quo.
The Scorpions?? (1962-1963) Not according to Alan Lancaster.

Traffic, then Traffic Jam (1967)
Then, The Status Quo, then Status Quo.
Now they are The Cabaret QUO.
Margaret Thatcher the Prime Minister should've stepped in and stopped Rossi and Parfitt from using the name STATUS QUO, after Lancaster left his Band.

The Scorpions
Alan Lancaster states "I know - there’s biographies and interviews from TV and radio, magazines, the general perception, even from my ex-manager Pat Barlow, one time he said we were The Scorpions on TV, before we became Quo. No we weren’t, that was a suggested name. I think sometimes when you’re asked a question and put on the spot, people get nervous and don’t want to look like the can’t remember or need to think hard about it. They want to look like they’re with it and give you a quick, decisive answer.
In 1967, the group's sound began moving towards psychedelia and they renamed themselves Traffic, but were soon forced to change it to Traffic Jam to avoid confusion with Steve Winwood's Traffic, following an argument over who had registered the name first.[19] The band secured an appearance on BBC Radio's Saturday Club, but in June their next single, "Almost But Not Quite There" (an original song by Francis Rossi), underperformed. The following month saw Parfitt, at the request of manager Pat Barlow, joining the band as rhythm guitarist and vocalist. Shortly after Parfitt's recruitment, in August 1967, the band officially became The Status Quo, then shortly after Status Quo.

У моего дедушки такой вот приёмник в самом начале 70-х тоже был! И три песенки в начале этого ролика - как раз из того времени, - из детства моего - какое счастье было это слушать тогда, и счастье - сейчас это снова вспомнить ...

Скорость на проигрователе была 78 ,потом 45( срокопятка на ней было качество лучше) потом пошла 33 на ней уже помещался диск.

Status Quo.... The first song where i get wild to was Down Down. But than i remember......there was a band where my older brothers allways listening to and that liked a lot. The song was called... ' technicolour dreams ' and then i remember the name of this amazing band. Status Quo. Since then i have buyed e-v-e-r-y album of the Quo and i can say that i one of the biggest fans of Status Quo. When Rick Parfit was passed the way i feel very down for months. Now i turn their music nearly every day and when i don't i feel bad. So i MUST turn Quo ....e v e r y d a y and it never get boring

Quo we’re an essential part of 70’s/80’s music scene in the UK. Manya lad like me had Quo playing on the cassette player taped the the handlebars of their Yamaha FSie…..cruising the council estates thinking they were the ultimate of cool. With short back and sides haircut. With a false pony tail hanging out at the back of the helmet. With Domestos bleached Millets SnugFit £6.99 jeans. And an unlit fan hangin from the mouth….coz you didn’t smoke.
Live ist Quo eine Macht, die beste Liveband nach AC/DC. Ich hatte das Glück sie noch in der Orginalbesetzung zu sehen und habe sie bis heute etwa 30 mal gesehen und hoffe das ich sie nochmal zu sehen bekomme. Geile Band

Quand tu faisais une soirée entre jeunes (cons) , tu commençais par un morceau du Quo pour lancer l'ambiance; Et après c'était parti pour toute la soirée .Vraiment un très grand groupe de Rock...Mais c'est bientôt la fin d'une époque, mais le groupe restera toujours dans un coin de la tête des amoureux du ROCK, simple mais Jovial.

There was only one Quo, Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster and Coghlan. From Ma Kelly to Blue for You, and maybe Rocking All Over The World? But once Rossi got Pip Williams involved, it was Over and Done!!

Never the same after John Coghlan left. I learnt to play drums listening to Quo records in the 70's. I met him recently at a Quo Reimagined gig at The Half Moon in Putney. Had a brief chat. Very surreal experience (for me, not him!)

Greetings from germany. Great compilation. Interesting how they changed their style and sound over the years. From the very lows like "In the Army now" and "Marguerita Time" to the heavy bangers like "Paper Plane". They were my absolute heroes from the late 1970s until around 1984. They brought me from Hard Rock to Heavy Metal. Legends!

Quo was good from the late 60s till the late 70s. After this time they only played bullsh*t. In the army now and Marguerita Time were Kindergarden Music.
And that was the Reason why Alan leaves the Band.For your Information. Paper Plane was before In the Army and Marguerita Time.
@@woodstock1969-ls Thanks for your answer. Of course I know the chronological order of the songs and that "Paper Plane" is from the "Piledriver" album. I should have phrased and structured the sentences a little differently. Strictly speaking, "Never Too Late" was the last really cool record.

STATUS QUO were great in the 70's their first five albums were awesome. Plus their double live album STATUSQUO LIVE AT GLASGOW 1976 When Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan left the band and in came other members I found that STATUS QUO had lost me as a fan. Now that Rick Parfait and Alan Lancaster have passed away and Francis Rossi is not my favourite member of the QUO. They have lost their mark STATUSQUO is not STATUSQUO anymore.

Początki były psychodeliczne, ale dobrze, że je zmienili!!! Potem było już tylko dobrze, chyba do 1977 roku, gdy zaczęli graćmelodyjniejszą odmianę rock'n'rolla. Ale mimo tego przeszli do historii jako 3 po Beatles i Rolling Stones w ilości hiciaków,które gościły w pierwszej 10 UK Charts!

Status Quo are not going to be very soon I just read they have been going since 1962 to 2024 they are doing one more tour in UK I read and that's it, so say Francis Rossi. I'm not surprised seeing that with 2 band members now deceased STATUS QUO were not the same band anymore, their music to me lost the edge they were known for. I purchased their last album BACKBONE and I was not impressed. I wish Alan Lancaster and (my favourite) Rick Parfitt & lets not forget John Coghlan, I would've like to see what Rick, Alan & John had to say about Quo's intending break up of the group? RIP RICK & ALAN. I miss their 70's sound they had.

Ma préférence va à Big fat mama , en passant par Sweet Caroline , je l’ai ai vu au tout début, ils se cherchaient encore, puis en concert à Madrid en 2008 je crois , puis Barcelone ou pour moi c’était l’apogée, puis au Zénith à Montpellier, ou j’ai trouvé que c’était la fin , puis Alan est parti, puis Rick ne reste plus que Francis qui porte le groupe à lui tout seul….
Même si ceux qui ont remplacés les disparus, et qui ont un jeu de scène bluffant, la « niak » n’est plus là ! Hélas…
J’ai 68 ans maintenant, je bouge un peu moins, mais les souvenirs restent encore intacts !!!!
Eu amo rock, principalmente quando se encontra essas pérolas!

Saw Quo several times at Manchester ( England) Free Trade Hall in the 70s. It had the worst acoustics in the world, but nobody gave monkey's with Quo on stage. Ditto Deep Purple!

Lancaster formed the band The Scorpions in 1962 with lead singer Francis Rossi, who was a classmate at Sedgehill Comprehensive School in London, according to media.

In The Army reminds me of my 2 Great-Uncles killed in action during World War 1,their names are: Corporal John Charles Markham(used his middle name Charles as his first name),b:1893-d:23/04/1918(aged 25 years) and,Private John Haydn Markham,b:1894-d:07/05/1915(aged 21 years).

Each to their own, but I think this selection should be re-titled - Some of the Hits... a lot of these selections are not their Best, imho.
Some strong singles, yes, but their best ?....🤔
Railroad, Something's Going on in my Head, A Year, Big Fat Mama, Roadhouse Blues, Roll over Lay Down, Blue Eyed Lady, 4500 Times, Backwater, Lonely Man, Slow Train, Little Lady, Broken Man, Bye Bye Johnny, Is there a Better Way, Ring of a Change, Mystery Song.... obviously - Caroline (an excellent end to this set) & Down Down are colossal singles, but I can't agree with all of these selections as Some of the Best. From Dog of Two Head to Blue For You, there are some exceptional pieces of music... I fell out of love at this point... saying all that... it's still a good post. 🙏 bless Rick & 🙏 bless Alan. You, plus Francis and John, helped to shape my teenage years musically..
It is only a title ..I use it for most of my compilations. I know it is hard for a staunch Quo lover to accept . Sorry..But I won't change the heading !! . :)
@peteroberts4033 It is only a title... but it can be a misleading one... depending on your perception. I wasn't expecting you to change it. It was merely an observationof.... Bands & artists have been doing it for years. A best of album normally consists of hit singles, their most popular songs, but not always their best tunes. Just for the record... I really liked Don't Drive my Car, didn't know this one. Cheers.

A great collection of their music. I have often seen them and always enjoyed their energy through member changes, decades. and music styles. The most dynamic live band IMHO and I have seen plenty.

Drove with some friends from Conwy to an agricultural exhibition barn in the Midlands of England; always had a DVD of Quo to listen too. The Quo didn't disappoint, very loud as promised, no seats everyone moving to the music, and all in line across the vast barn. I spotted the really dedicated Que fans putting their heads into the centre hole of the biggest Bass speakers I've ever seen; they must of woke up the next day with a headache and loss of hearing. Thank you for the great video and memory.
