    There seems to be two types of wire harnesses out there. One with a two wire ( red and black) and a three wire harness (red, blue and black) which is the better one. I have the two wire harness. For those that have the three wire harness: red wire goes to constant (hot/battery), blue to the one he hooked up from the headlight plug or tap from fuse box that turns on when car is on (ACC) and black to ground.

      @midnightrider723 I read somewhere that fuse taps weren't safe, not sure on the accuracy of that info tho. For me, it was alot easier and a guaranteed way of not leaving on the lights when the car is off. Again, that's just what I think.

  • @robbann8160
    @robbann8160 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Man you are a rockstar :-) it looks like it was just a little over 100 bucks worth of parts for OEM factory fog lights for a Honda Civic. The cheap Chinese kit is about the same. I would much rather have the OEM stuff than the Chinese crap for the same money. I bet if Honda had this as an accessory it would be around $400 or so… great job :-)

    • @rotheinstaller
      @rotheinstaller  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I strongly believe in genuine parts. I must say tho that the lights are used but they were in mint condition. I saw the generic ones and I was skeptical about them. All the parts was a little under $150 and as you saw in the video, it's not hard to install. I made it very detailed because the videos on TH-cam are really not. A bit old now but are the fog lights controlled by the light stalk at all? I want to wire the fog lights to come on when the low beams come on, and automatically turn off when the car is off. I don't want to have to keep pushing the on/off fog light switch to have them come on, and I also don't want the fog lights to be on anytime the car is on... just leave it on auto and forget it. Is this possible?

    when u cut the old h11 off and tied in the air bag clip did u tie all the wires or match them

    • @rotheinstaller
      @rotheinstaller  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Clayton you have to match the wires positive and negative. The way to know if you connected them correctly is to join the wires and test them on the battery before you do the install. When you test them make sure the light stays on, if the light cuts off in a second then then the wires are connected incorrectly. Let me know if that helps.

      @@marijuaxa so the rock auto connector has 2 pins, I don't know which side is positive or negative. I just connected the connector wires to the harness and tested it by touching the positive and negative harness wires on the battery. When the lights didn't stay on I knew the connector wires were cross connected so I took the wires off and changed around the wires.

      @Anthony if you connect it directly to the battery, the light will stay on even when the car is off if you forget to turn it off at the switch, which will result in a drained battery.
