      Totally my pleasure thank you so much for watching me and my family don’t really do politics we didn’t even know who won the election for over a month after it happened
      There are a lot of people here who are not satisfied with the current state of affairs regarding coronavirus in America there’s a lot of people walking around without masks in fact at my favorite venue none of the police officers are wearing it they are all old timers and refused to submit to anything besides what they are promised And have rights to as being a American
      I’m sure much like Texas and Indiana Arizona will soon lift all mandates I’m surprise he didn’t do it before the gem show

    How about Tucson, any shows scheduled in February?

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So what we call Tucson general show as a whole has been rescheduled for April most of the venues plan on doing a much smaller show and if you are not going to show at all however yesterday on social media I saw that at least one venue is open at the moment and this is probably because they have a warehouse in Tucson so they’re not investing money by traveling there to show at a venue that has been rescheduled the venue is called the Tucson showplace and it is ran by the gem shop which is one of the most successful gem and mineral shop‘s in the world which is located in Wisconsin if I was in Tucson I would definitely check out the Tucson show place however I do not think that it’s worth traveling from where I am at least in New Mexico just to go shop at the Tucson showplace plan on going in April but if you’re near Tucson within a good days drive definitely go check it out they are well-known for their world-class agates there’s a gentleman named Eugene Mueller who is very successful and well known in the scene That runs the shop

      @@lapidarydave Thanks so much for your reply! I actually live here in Tucson.😍 A friend of mine ( big-time rockhound) will be visiting next week and I'm looking for activities to keep her entertained. I think we will definitely cruise the sites. Thanks again!!✌

      @@darlene-dreams My pleasure my friend I wish I could make it out there to the Tucson showplace before April hopefully they’re still open when the rest of the show happens they’re really well known for their agates and they have some really cool deals where if you buy their products by the pound by just scooping up a pound it is a lot more affordable than if you take your time picking out all the good ones it’s kind of like sometimes more than five or six times cheaper for instance some of their agates are six dollars a pound if you just scoop them up or the $35 a pound if you pick them out individually
      If you don’t mind me asking my friend could you let me know if you make it to the Tucson show place either would be really thankful if I could send you some money to buy a pound or two of some other agates that I will showcase on my TH-cam channel

    I'm liking the stones from the Quartzite PowWow more than from the other shows. Not sure why that is. More raw material, maybe? Less crowded and chaotic during covid?

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people like the quartzite show more than two son in Denver because it’s a lot less crowded and a lot more mom and pop American vendors I like them all and I love the crowds regardless of Covid I will be going to Tucson in April for the gym show there it’s going to be a lot smaller this year but it will still be the largest in the world

    Owyhee is pronounced “oh why hee”. It was named for the Hawaiian Paneolo cowboys who came to that part of Oregon in the 1800s.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the awesome slice of history and help with the pronunciation somebody else if not you mentioned the same info that you just gave me but at the time and making this video I didn’t know anyway thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it who would ever want to leave Hawaii in the 1800s

    A lot of this turquoise looks like the "powdered" stuff to me.( I don't know enough about it) Myself I am a purist as far as rocks and minerals go. I do not go for any enhancement more than a cut and polish. I love the rough stuff.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t call the stuff in this video powdered but it’s definitely stabilized
      sometimes folks stabilize because the material is what is know as “chalk” which is different then what I’d call powdered since powdered is more like when the chalk is so unstable soft or crumbly that they literally crush up the the chalk and then stabilize that material that way and most of the time shape it into bricks that people call block
      The big difference between stabilized chalk and stabilized powder is that the powder will not have any natural matrix where the chalk will
      :) both the campitos and number8 in this video was probably good enough to work but takes a better polish shine and shows deeper color after stabilization
      Natural is obviously the most expensive and let’s say the number8 is $13a gram natural the stabilized version might be $3gram and the block might be a lot less then that
      Thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it

      I had to remove it unfortunately because the vendor was worried about people copying his companies cabochons which is silly since they where very basic and mass produced maybe average at best
      But since there was a bit of a language barrier I did not try to convince the gentleman that it was unnecessary and I simply pulled the video
