And they still play that National Anthem bit to this day. I just wish they did the whole pattern test with the music. Made me really miss Malcom and King of The Hill...
I really could do without the King of the Hill theme. It makes me feel uneasy with those bars and such, knowing that this would be late at night. I am not sure why!
Sounds a lot like what the BBC did during a startup menu sequence on BBC1 or BBC2, but instead of themes from their programmes, they just used library music.
As a kid, test patterns used to scare the hell out of me. If only the NYC stations had put their logos over the test patterns and played music like is done here, it wouldn't have scared me anywhere near as much.
Personally, I would’ve gone with the season 1 theme song to That ‘70s Show by Todd Griffin. That one is the GOAT, compared to the Cheap Trick version used from seasons 2-8.
Do you by chance have any video of how they did the weather back than? I remember a gal named Stephanie do it in the end. I believe they did the weather reports sometime around the community calendar. It's been long enough I don't quite recall anymore.

I love how there are the theme songs playing as the station is off the air. I wish more stations did it just like this.

You will never find any Fox affiliate than KTTW that plays every theme song from any show Fox aired over a test pattern.

Makes the color bars much less scary, in fact, not scary at all. Themes of Fox shows instead of that tone, now this is cool.

I’m confused what was the purpose of these sign on and off videos channels didn’t run 24/7 or something or was this just got news 🤷♂️
Some channels were not 24/7 and there are still some that sign on and off even with digital.
