Is that a dent I can see on the rear door, just behind the front door handle at 14:21 when you're checking the repaired front door actuator? Furthermore...I'm amazed how easy it is to become a perfectionist on someone else's project, in a different country, that I get to view in its entirety while laying on the couch, in color and for free.

Great job Scott. I don't know if I watch for your ability to fix cars so effortlessly or for the humour, probably both, thank you. I would happily buy a car you had repaired, only problem would be the steering wheel on the wrong side and the delivery mileage. Cheers from London UK.

The dash problem was warrantied but a lot of people didn't realise until it was too late as most second and later owners don't register their ownership direct with Lexus and don't get recall/warranty extension mailouts. Since these cars stay on the road for so long, I guess the warranty has to end at some point.

  • @BrucePierson

We have a Hyundai Getz. If you open the door with the key, the alarm goes off, so if the battery dies in the fob, it effectively disables the car and you can't drive it until you replace the fob battery. Pretty stupid idea that caught my daughter out when she was using it. She had to take an Uber to a store to get a new battery and replace it so she could drive to work, luckily still getting to work on time.

    • @hxhdfjifzirstc894

Those batteries are pretty cheap, so just keep one in your wallet or purse. Use a brand with a long shelf-life, like Duracell, and store it in the original plastic tab (trim the cardboard down). I guess you'll also need a small screwdriver, to change the battery.

It's always a good day when I can watch a new video from you, and today was no different. The end kind of made me chuckle a little - one of the first things I buy for any of my vehicles is a dashmat - primarily to eliminate the glare so many dashes give now. Been doing so for over 30 years, so I guess I'm stuck in my way. It was also super cool to see you showing the Shadow Gnome some of the tips and tricks!!

I like how you casually add protips into the show to help if someone is actually doing similar to their own and could save them a lot of time or frustration from an easy simple thing that would help a lot later/or save time. From your experience. If I can add some of my own, scanning quickly I didn't see it mentioned, the general consensus is don't remove the filter drain port. Just open the whole housing to the filter and let it spill. It's not a lot. Maybe you know and were just doing for our benefit..

There was a way around that cable box thing, just climb the pole and take the little box out of the line and open it up and take out all the guts and run a wire across from one end to the other. pit it back together and back in the line. and guess what you got FREE cable, until the company happened to notice someone was getting free cable, then game over.

If you forget the orientation of the cabin filter (or sometimes they are printed wrong!), only mind the outer most folds, they must "catch" the air. Visual of the outer fold that catches the air: >
Correct: outside air > fan, here the outside air is catched completely by the filter.
wrong: outside air < fan, in this case the outside air can pass by the outer edges of the filter.
    Cheers.

So I told myself I will buy new rotors when it needs the pads replaced. Well that was many years ago and around 30k miles ago and i still haven't had to replace them. They may outlast the mountaineer as it now has 180k miles. it's almost rust free. And I haven't replaced it as it gets me were i want to go and seems to run good. it is old with it being a 2006. I thought about trying to buy a new ford maverick but I don't drive enough to justify buying another car or suv.
