    Several months ago there was some dust on my sensor after a trip and I stupidly tried to blow it off instead of using the rocket, which wound up getting spittle on my sensor. One of the photographers I follow tests a lot of equipment like this for his field work and one of the things he recommended was the swab kit from Photographic Solutions (or Photosol). You kind of don't need the testing/feedback loop kit, but just the swabs (get the one for whatever appropriate sensor size) with the cleaning fluid. Doesn't leave streaks and works perfectly well. Recommended.

    I just finished a video of the lake superior coastal trail and had this problem! Had spots the whole time and didn't notice cause the a6500 dims the screen while shooting in 4k.. Was able to fix some static shots in post but couldn't fix the moving shots. This is a fantastic tip I'll probably be using every time I shoot!

    Awesome tip. I remember having problems with my old Canon Rebel XT when bicycle touring around the great lakes back in 2003 - 2007 time frame. Cameras have come a long way since then still this was a good reminder to pay attention before I regret not paying attention. Thanks for sharing!

    i wish more oems would put a cover over the sensor in-body like for canon mirrorless. would obviate the need for this and constant sensor cleaning. also, adjusting all the other parameters so you don't shoot with iris wide open or closed all the way will also avoid sensor dust being seen too if you have the problem and can't clean it in the field.

  • @adventureswithjosie
    @adventureswithjosie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tip Chris! I tried it and it does really help to see the spots better! I've actually had this issue with my camera for a while now, at least a few months. Noticed it in my photos on the computer. I've already tried the different steps that you listed in the video a few times. I've heard about the last step you mentioned, cleaning the actual sensor itself. Not sure if I want to attempt that on my own or not lol! I guess maybe if it gets bad enough. At least with photography I can easily edit the dark spots out if they show up in the photo. Video would be a bit more complicated. Take care Chris!

    Chris, I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I bought my first mirrorless camera a Sony A7S ii and came to the realization that it was impossible to change lenses without getting dust and pollen on the sensor. I ended up getting a Sony zoom lenses which lives on on the A7s ii and never comes off. For stills, had my old 500C CLAd and I just kept shooting film.

    • @ChrisProuse
      @ChrisProuse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey OG! Ya, it's more for DSLR's and mirrorless cameras. You could use to the trick to tell if something has gotten inside of the Pany super zoom... but you'd likely have to send it into Panasonic to have them service the camera, so you may not want to find out, lol. Hope all's well :)
