    Voldemort also cursed the DADA job. This spell was so powerful, it actually altered the course of reality so that circumstances would cause the employee to lose their job or even die.

      I always thought this was just bs made up by jk to advance the story in the books. No teachers before Harry potters time was ever mentioned and quirrel was controlled by Voldemort so if he did jinx it, he would’ve literally volunteered himself for failure Harry’s first year.

      @@nelswebs The key word there is “controlled.” Voldemort tortured and murdered his own followers all the time just for annoying him, do you seriously think he would have cared about putting his servants in the path of his curse if it furthered his purpose of immortality? Even when he killed Snape, his most powerful and trusted death eater, he felt nothing at all.

    • @nelswebs
      @nelswebs ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexbanks8429 what? I don’t get how this replies to what I said. For Barty maybe your point stands, but he literally attached himself to quirrel, if quirrel died he wouldn’t have had a host close enough to the stone. If he got fired he wouldn’t have had a host close enough to the stone. If the jinx was to leave the school, in whatever matter, after a year, then he only gave himself a year max to get the stone, so he underestimated dumbledore, but throughout the books, Voldemort is shown not to underestimate dumbledore (at least when coming face to face), or he would’ve just pulled up to the school every year starting book 4. Either way you slice it, it’s bad writing lol or at least unaware and forgetful writing.

      No, Snape knew how to fly before that. This is not a simple thing to learn, and it takes a lot of time to master. Why do you think Bellatrix doesn't fly. I'm sure Snape wasn't the only Deatheater Voldermort tried to teach this skill too. Snape is the only one who could master it. We know Snape capable a flying before Voldermort came back, because in HBP, Bellatrix asks Snape this very question. She asks him why he did not fly to Voldermort, when he felt the dark mark burn. Not, why didn't he apparate.

      @@lxena8033 don’t sprain your shoulder reaching lol, it’s a phrase. She basically said, “why didn’t you quickly go to Voldemort?” Apparating is faster than flying so why would he fly if his life (and loyalty) is at stake lmao

      @xiphos8219 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nelswebs I mean mostly. In all honesty without his Horcruxes, in a one on one to the death, Voldemort does not actually outclass Snape enough to take that for granted. That's why he killed Snape with the element of surprise; because Voldemort knew that Snape may very well walk away from that one the winner. Even with his Horcruxes, Snape could very well still incapacitate him.
      As great as Alan Rickman's portrayal was, they really did not show just how much of a badass Snape was.

    I for one would kill for an entire new seven-book series following Tom Riddle and Voldemort concurrently. Each book could oscillate between a year at Hogwarts for Tom and the travels he went on as Voldemort; like an extended version of how The Kingkiller Chronicles is told. It could be a new Dark series for these Dark times; one where we explore, not what it takes to be a hero, but what it costs to be a villain.

    The Gaunt ring curse is so sinister and brilliant because, for someone like Dumbledore, the holder would not be able to resist the temptation of using the resurrection stone. Even just temporarily to see past loved ones, the holder would naturally put on the ring.

    Rowling has stated that all wizards and witches have the ability to fly without assistance, but few go to the trouble to try. The vast majority must have some sort of support, such as a broom, but even at that...some aren't good at it. I think that, had he put his efforts to it, Harry would have been able to do fly alone, as he was such a natural flier.

      He did fly briefly as a child when necessary to escape bullies. That was before he knew about magic, though. It does support the idea that unsupported flight is _possible_ for all wizards _if_ they put in the effort to learn how. We see the same concept in action with wordless and wandless magic in the series. You could say the same about apparition too. The primary reason most witches and wizards don't bother to try to learn is that brooms are so plentiful. Tools certainly make things easier, but they also tend to make people reliant on them.

    As far as Horcrux creators, why should we assume Herpo and Voldemort are the only two? There could be hundreds or thousands of successful horcrux creators running around, but they were smart and didn't try to take over the world. Instead, they just lie low and create a new body as the old one wears out. Additionally, others may have died, but are stuck in the "less than a ghost" state like Voldemort was when the spell against baby Harry rebound.

    • @MikeDCWeld
      @MikeDCWeld ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I can tell, Voldemort was the first to create new bodies, though I'm not 100% sure off-hand if it was clearly stated whether he'd developed the process or rediscovered it. Either way, the process he used wouldn't have been a possibility for ordinary dark wizards from a purely practical perspective. It required a few very specific ingredients that your average wizard simply wouldn't have available to them.

We don't know if sunlight turns them to ash or they can't live without their homeland soil, can't be seen in mirrors, vulnerable to stake, unable to cross a running river, decapitation, and burning.
      If you have seen castlevania you would know that not all the vampire weaknesses work on a vampire. As Vlad Tepes, Dracula was resistant if not immune to the weaknesses, he was only killed when he wanted it to happen

  • @coolcatjk30
    @coolcatjk30 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the videos. But a critique I have is that you claimed the cup in the cave to be a plot hole. While this franchise def does have plot holes. This was one created by the movies alone. In the book, Dumbledore conjured his own cup to drink the potion. Unlike the movie that had the shell like scoop already there. Since I assume the cup conjured was never seen or touched by Voldy, that would imply the cave itself was enchanted to prevent a wizard from using the Aquamenti charm to quench their thirst. So even if you attempted to just hose it into your mouth and for go the cup, the effect would have been the same.
    Like Dumbledore says in the book, the protection was well designed.
    Also, regarding flight, JK has stated that all wizards are capable of flight without a broom. It is just easier to use a broom with enchantments. Like how it is easier to use a wand to channel magic thru vs. using wandless magic. The only reason why Voldy was the first was because the method/technique was unknown. And he discovered how to do it and passed the info along to Snape. But now that the only two wizards that had that info are now dead. I don't think we will really see flight happen in the future of the franchise (if there even is one at this point tbh). Because it would take a wizard as intelligent and powerful as Voldy to rediscover.

    Being able to cast morsmorde into the sky wasn't/isn't all that special. It's just a magical hologram. Gilderoy Lockhart can cast a magical hologram too. Granted it's just a hologram of himself, but still

    I don't think the Horcrux really granted immortality at all. After all, Voldemort had made multiple Horcruxes by the time he first went after Harry and the rebound of the Avada Kedavra curse still destroyed his body. All the Horcruxes did was prevent his soul from moving on. I suspect that anyone that made a Horcrux still died just as if they had never made it but found themselves unable to move on because a part of their soul was locked away in an object somewhere in the land of the living.
