Ah, how to fairly respond to such an iconic design? Unsaid here is that the design is built on the foundation of the Aprilia Pegaso with a well-proven 5-valve liquid-cooled Rotax engine and quite classy components - e.g. Marzocchi suspension fore and aft - such that this trather 'exclusive' motorcycle was underwritten by the success of a more 'populist' machine. Clearly motorcycle marketing hangs heavily on the 'looks' of the product and this one was a big gamble for Aprilia - a winner in artistic expression but a failure in the marketplace. I think few would choose it as their daily ride (may I suggest it might suit a ballet choreographer, an advertising copywriter, an associate professor of philosophy or a sensitive-natured country pastor?) but oh! what a head-turner when you take it out with the road and the cafe as your mobile gallery. I ache to own one but my motorcycles must serve as work-horses and this assuredly is a show pony.
I think it is gorgeous and a classic in the history of motorcycling design. And yes the Aprilia Moto 6.5 was one of 100 motorcycles spanning 100 years exhibited in New York's Guggenheim Museum exhibition in 1998: The Art of the Motorcycle.
You could buy it and proudly hang it on the wall.

I bought one new it the biggest bag of sh...t ever hit the road paid thousands for it sold it for £750 and glad to get it .... really bad bike .. After I bought it their real problems with combustion Aprilla had it back many times and then washed their hands of it ... I had to take it to a racing bike rolling road and got it sorted but when the temp dropped it still played up ... general opinion was it should have had fuel injection .... SORRY TO A KILLJOY this is a collectors bike ..Bought a CB 500 to replace it ,and kept it 10 years and it never let me down

both the 6.5 and the BMW F650 which shared the same Rotax engines had terrible running problems, my 6.5 would struggle to do much above 60 MPH and topped out at just over 90 MPH on a good day. A reasonable town bike but not worth the crazy asking prices, I would pay no more than 700 quid for a minter.
