Hey Chris. I'm putting a travel show together this October for NBC. Can I use 3 seconds of the time lapse to b-roll a discussion about St. Patrick's Day? Happy to put your name in the show credits.
+PrimoMedia This is beautiful. This is Michael Sheridan with the New York Daily News. We'd love to feature this video on our site and on social media in perpetuity?
Must be good for environment. If dye is bad for our bodies, imagine what it does to fish and wild life. I'm irish decent, love st Patrick's day not enough to damage our wildlife.
I'm with you on that. Hopefully there are some bright minds making those decisions. On the other hand I do not know how much of a wildlife can survive in the Chicago river.
Hey PrimoMedia. We love this video. I am with CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. Ma CBS News have permission to use your material on all platforms and media, worldwide, in perpetuity?
LEGOMAC49 - Good morning. Do you mean the pre-dyed river looks like toxic waste? I presume you know that only biodegradable, vegetable based dyes have been utilized since 1966. Of course, the brilliant color doesn't last as long, however, I suspect we can agree that the lack of damage to the river is worth it. Happy St. Patrick's Day 2017!
That's brilliant, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
murdoc 7 Thanks. Check out the vid from this year's dyeing river green.

I'm curious is this shot through a window or on a balcony?
+Steve Chalkley It is through a window. They do not have balcony so high at Sheraton. It would be nice but....:) I had to play with window reflection.
esse dia foi louko
João Pedro Colussi Foi loko de mais
João Pedro Colussi é vdd
It really was. Thank you.
How do they dye it back to normal? Do they just have a weird paint that makes the dye disappear?
It is vegetable dye. It disappears after few hours. It is hard for them to keep it green for too long in place because of river flow.
How does the water like get normal Sorry I'm dumb
MidnightxX They use vegetable dye so it dissolves after 5 hours plus it is a river. Water moves and they dye only couple blocks.
is the dye toxic to the marine life in there?
James Ellsworth No. They use vegetable dye
so glad that we are out of the drought
:)

How selfish this is...Marine life aren't Irish and don't deserve this treatment...
It looks that way but there may be no marine life out there. Who knows.
Who gives a shit.
They use 40 pounds of a non toxic, powdered vegetable based dye that the fishes actually love. It lasts about five hours before dissipating.
If they can dye that river green today, why can't they dye it blue the other 364 days of the year?
Actually they did last year but the color didn't last long:)

True. Little ones. :)

Haze Very unusual and one of the kind tradition.
Nice! But this looks toxic as fuck lol
+Maximum Blaster They say it is veggie dye. Harmless to environment. Certainly looks toxic:)
