I really don’t understand why they are not able to keep inventory. Every time I check their site I feel like they are out of business. But I guess they are just always out of stock instead.
Call them. They will put you on a list to receive them when they make their next batch. That's how I got mine. I believe they only make about 2 batches of them per year, and yes they sell out fairly quickly.
Jackpoint jack stands are very solid, so I'm glad I was able to buy a pair a few years ago... One of the benefits of having a 911/Cayman/Boxster is that the car is so stiff you can jack at the rear points only. If you jack high enough you can slide in regular jack stands up front and lower onto the jackpoint in the rear at once (which saves a lot od time). Pair of flat top Esco 10499s works perfectly! Work on one side of the car then the other and you can get the car in the air pretty quickly and most importantly very safely.
Hi sir, thank you very much for making this video. I am trying to decide between the two products myself and your video is very helpful. All i want to do is to be able to DIY tire rotations on a SUV because i think I can do a better job than the local tire shop (which may not properly torque the nuts or do more harm than good). I do like the fact the Jackpoint is made in USA, but they seem so hard to get and only direct. BTW, your 911 looks spectacular - apparently you take excellent care of it.
Great video! JackPoints are nearly impossible to find as they are always out of stock. They look solid! I actually just purchased some Rennstands, I wanted a bit more height.
Great side by side video. I had the Rennstands for about a month before I decided to sell them. They took too much time/effort to assemble and position at each wheel. Another hassle is that there are lots of parts that all have to get carried to the car and then back to be stored. If you can live with the single height Jackpoint, it's much more convenient.
Thanks for the comment. Agreed. The Jackpoint with basically just two parts is much more straightforward, convenient, and easy with the limitation being a fixed single height. I do like them both but when elevated height is not needed, I will probably stick with the Jackpoints. However, I will definitely use the Rennstands for getting all 4 wheels off the ground or for adding an additional support under the crossmember when working under the car (just for peace of mind.
@@fickstit2839Thank you. Good idea to use ramps but somehow I’m afraid of going under ramps. Also I’m not sure if low ramps are sufficiently high to remove splash shield. Thanks
Thx for the share! Jackstands are great and easy, but limited to height. If there is a need for more space like for exhaust work the Renns work better, but overall great solutions.
Thanks for the comment. I agree and am glad that I have both options when the need arises. I could always raise one side/end of the car higher than the other.
Thanks for this comparison. 2 comments: 1. Is there any reason why you couldn’t put two by fours underneath the jack points to get extra height? 2. I saw a review of the rennstand and by a reviewer calling himself an engineer. He addressed the concern about the locking pins. He said that the pins were good for 9000 pounds of shear force and that’s on each shear plane. What it means is that the 9000 pound weight rating is distributed across 4 shear planes (2 on each leg). That’s a max shear force on each plane on 2,500 pounds and a significant safety margin. You know, if he’s right about the rating of the pins.
So, I'm considering the Jackpoint jack, but the price isn't worth it if it's not the one-and-done I need it to be. Does the Jackpoint make enough clearance for a car like a stock 2nd gen Honda Fit or to a lesser extent a stock modern gen Civic? I''m wanting to use this to just change the oil and coolant and the like. Can you get underneath to do those kinds of jobs? Some people were saying it's not tall enough, but maybe they were talking about more serious work.
Based on this video, I was going to sell my RennStands. However, I like how much higher they can go (for future SUV purchases). I think I will keep both. Never know when you'll need the entire car in the air.
using only the front with the rennstands is not that bad. for raising the four sides using the jackpoint jackstands are much safer. however to raise higher with the jackpoint jackstansds you need to buy extra sets of pads. i sometimes put 3 to 4 pads extra to raise the height to 16 to 17 inches
Thank you! I'm glad you think so. My intention was to try and demonstrate a clear and unbiased comparison and let the viewers decide what's best for them.
Excellent summary! I've been trading between the two and definitely like the insight into the renn stands at the max height. I agree, that configuration just doesn't feel right.
Thank you for the comparison. Now I need to buy a jackpoints for our Tesla's. This will be the 5th set in my collection. 😀. It would be cool if I can use them on my four post lift...
Hey pal - nice video and very helpful. Just wondering, however, if you used the jack point jack stand (which fits without the wood block) first when raising the rear, you wouldn’t need to use the helper block as the car would already be high enough to use the rennstand unit at the front. Cheers
I purchased them from this website. My previous clear stone guards were removed prior to getting full body PPF. Then these got put on over the PPF. They hold strong even at speed :) magnagrafik.com/Products.aspx
Does that get about 17 inches of workspace underneath the vehicle? I’d like to see how much room you have to work under the vehicle with the checkpoint stands…whenever you get a chance…..soon😁
According to the specs on each of the company's websites (provided in the description), the Jackpoints raise the car up about 12" and the Rennstands go between 11.5" and 16.5" which I believe to be fairly accurate. I can't say for sure if they go up to 17" but close enough. I can't say that I'd feel super comfortable working underneath the car with the Rennstands fully extended though. I just wouldn't trust them that high.
Oh I know where I got 17 inches from. A jack they sell lifts that high so I assumed that their stands were that high as well. Yeah that part of your video really caught my attention I’m not sure I would trust those pins either. However some regular Jackstands are supported the same way as well, so I guess it works.🤷🏻♂️
Rennstand wouldn't go under my mode y long range with my floor jack and that is not a low car. I talked to Jackpoint and they said that the Jackpoint was about and inch lower. Also Tesla uses the Jackpoints for mobile service. Seems to me you shouldn't have to use Ramps for these if they are designed properly .
Just wish they were cheap enough to get in the Uk for Teslas, I mean why cannot Tesla sell them with the car. One point which does stand out some jacks are 14 inches wide would these fit either model.
I can do engine oil changes by simply driving up onto 2-3” ramps so the jackpoints are more than enough. I’ve never done a gearbox oil change but I can’t imagine why not. You get 11.5” of lift from the ground at the jack points with the Jackpoint stands. It’s not like you have all sorts of room under the car to comfortably move around but if you’re not too big, it shouldn’t be a problem getting anywhere under the car.
Can pretty easily make your own Rennstand/Jackpoint hybrid with some 2x6", 2x4", and or 4x4" lumbar. Lightweight, super inexpensive, easy to store, customizable for your vehicle's jackpoint position and shape, adjustable height, and more solid and sturdy, believe it or not. Rennstand/Jackpoint are utter rip-offs, and it appears to me the manufacturers are in large part just hoping to pawn them off to wealthy car owners. Might as well just get a QuickJack; at least it's actually worth the asking price.
Well done! As of today, all products on the RENNSTAND website are shown as being out of stock which makes me wonder if they are still in business. I recently used the RENNSTAND I bought last year on my 2022 Porsche Cayenne for the first time and found two issues. My Daytona floor jack is a little wider than yours making it difficult to insert the RENNSTAND legs unless I excessively elevate the vehicle. And then when I get the legs inserted into the RENNSTAND top unit and lower the vehicle, my floor jack is "trapped" between the RENNSTAND legs. I doubt that I could withdraw the floor jack from under the RENNSTAND if I needed to use it to lift another corner of the vehicle. Also, the RENNSTAND barely works on the Cayenne's rear lift points due to the rubber air defectors in front of the rear wheels. I can barely get the RENNSTAND to work by positioning it as far forward as possible so that the air deflectors only get bent instead of broken. I suppose I could wrench the air defectors off but that defeats the purpose of buying a product that is supposed to make safely lifting a vehicle easy.
Called Jack point asked about my car, they never picked up. Emailed them, months later they replied. After 1 conversation, never heard back from them again. So, I would not do business with them. Zero customer service, good luck on getting them.
Haha!!! If you want fancy edited videos, you'll have to look elsewhere. These are one-take videos stitched together with no fancy editing software. I'm lucky that I even figured out how to put title slides or even upload them to TH-cam.
Good job. I prefer the Jackpoints but unfortunately they are never available.
I really don’t understand why they are not able to keep inventory. Every time I check their site I feel like they are out of business. But I guess they are just always out of stock instead.

You will be very happy with the Rennstands.

Yup, seems like a perfect solution for you!
Hi, with 12” clearance, are you able to work under the car with the jack point, like removing the splash shield to changing engine oil? Thanks
Very easy to do oil change with these. I typically don't use these for oil changes. I just back the car up onto 3" ramps which is enough.
@@fickstit2839Thank you. Good idea to use ramps but somehow I’m afraid of going under ramps. Also I’m not sure if low ramps are sufficiently high to remove splash shield. Thanks
@ somehow I’m afraid of going under ramps! Also I’m not sure if low ramps are high enough to remove splash shields. Thanks!
@ good ramps are plenty safe. Just be sure to use chocks too. I recommend Race Ramps.
@@fickstit2839 thanks I’ll check it out

Really nice analysis!

Nice job. That Daytona floorjack is pretty! What's the rating and what did it run you? Did you lower your car at all?

just the fact that the first stand took a minute and a helf to set up completely takes the Rennstand out of contention for me
