Honest question... I immediately had this question when i received mine. What happens when something heavy pushes up against or bumps into the pin retraction lever while under load?? I noticed that there doesn't seem to be anything that would prevent the jack rod from 'collapsing' if something with enough mass/inertia were to bump into the release lever. Like say a heavy tool, component, or accidentally being bumped into by a mechanic's foot, or leg, etc. There doesn't appear to be any kind of groove in the pin to prevent the pin from being retractable when under load. Also, having a duplicate of the pin mechanism on both side feels like it might be more safe -- then if something were to bump into the pin retract lever on one side, the other pin and lever on the opposite side would still hold.
Etyrnal, great question and something we were concerned with initial. But in the testing phase we found that the side load on the pin was so high that bumping into the lever did not move the pin. So we wondered what would move the pin. Turns out when supporting a full size vehicle, anything short of hitting the lever with a large hammer does nothing to the pin position. DISCLAIMER - DO NOT HIT YOUR JACK ROD WITH A HAMMER!
We got good new for you John. We just finished building an XL version of the Jack Rod. Extends to 24 inches. We have a few pre-production units here now. If you share your email we can get you all the details. Or shoot us a email to info@agm-products.com and we’ll get back.
So you install the Jack Rod with one hand, then pump the jack until the safety peg finds a hole to seat in. What happens when you want to jack the vehicle up higher? Does the Jack Rod fall off, or do you remove the Jack Rod, jack the vehicle up more, replace the Jack Rod, then jack it up slightly more again until it seats inside a hole?
Good questions. The Jack Rod should be installed only after you have already raised the vehicle with the floor jack to your final working height. At that final height (or just above where you would like that height) you install the jack rod. It will hold itself in place as you move back to the floor jack handle. Then you twist the floor jack handle, lowering the floor jack (no secondary lifting) to engage the lock in the Jack Rod. Now your vehicle is mechanically supported and you can work around/under safely. Or said another way- Step1: raise vehicle with floor jack. Step2: install Jack Rod Step3: Lower floor jack to lock Jack rod in place. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.
Or said a different way Step1: raise vehicle with floor jack. Step2: install jack rod Step3: Lower floor jack to lock jack rod in place. And most importantly, Step4: “Lock” the jack handle.

This is a pretty cool looking product but I am not worried about my jack failing . What I'm worried about is the jack shifting and slipping letting the car fall , that's why a jack stand is needed . As a secondary support . I would NEVER get under any vehicle that was only supported by a jack . 💯💯💯

If your floor jack rolls away, how are you lifting your car in the first place? This rod is a safety tool that's also going to extend the service life of your floor jack. I thought the same thing. But honestly, how often do you need to lift the entire vehicle to do what ever task it is you’re doing. Even if you need to lift the whole front end, jack up one side, toss a stand under it, then jack up the other side and slap the jack rod into your jack. Still saves you a step.
@@jgetscensored7837 Pretty much always, which is why I have 4 floor jacks. Good idea, why I didn't think of this. It doesn't really need to hold a car's weight but just enough so you get out the way.

That's called an irrational fear. The jack being able to slide is a good thing. A jack stand would just topple over and kill you in that scenario.
I know right !!! These guys are clever but they will likely end up with law suits and people hurt eventually in my humble opinion.
I have a 23 and a half inch lift 3-ton Jack do you make them that go with that high too or no just one size
