Great video. You got your process down well. Saw your vid about your brew room setup too. Nicely done Looking forward to seeing some tastings of your homebrews as well as more content from your channel. Cheers! 🍺🍻
Nice video, mate. Good to see someone else using 2 packs of yeast as standard practice. I’ve done a couple of the Morgan’s recipe kits and found that they benefit greatly from a few extra additions. I haven’t done this one though so I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Cheers!
thanks mate, yeah I try my best as a rule of thumb to always run 2 packs of yeast, I find that it never hurts the brews and can definitely help some. well stay tuned in 14 days to find out :)
Nice vid. "Fair Drinkum Brews" is a great name. Nice idea with the can suspended over the stirring spoon. Pouring the water down the side of the fermenter will help with take up of oxygen. Oxygen in the wort is a good thing when pitching your yeast as the yeast uses it to do a few things that benefit the beer. You could also shake the water in its container to mix a bit of air in (air getting into your beer at any other time is not a good thing). Good to see you sanitise the scissors. I also sanitise the yeast packet.
Thanks for that, yeah re stirring spoon I saw that in somebody elses brewing video a while back and ive done it ever since. I know that re the take up of oxygen, Im just not a fan of how bubbly and frothy it gets on top, so it helps reduce that slightly. yeah definitely know that re air in the beer/ferment at any other time post brew day is awful. thanks re the sanitizing, the only reason I didnt sanitise the yeast packet is because i didnt have the packet touch anything in the fermenter or on the fermenter, but will put that as mainstay practise as of my next brew for sure. My next video will be a brew room tour/setup tour, and the following video, Im going to attempt to make my own starter yeast via rehydrating yeast packets.
I’m a newbie! I have only just put down my second brew (coopers pale ale- will dry hop with galaxy, any tips welcome) Why two packets of yeast? I’m located central coast too 🤙🤙🤙
Awesome to see a fellow coastie brewer, welcome to the hobby :). In regards to 2 packets of yeast, I find it helps give the brew more coverage, helps not stress the yeast too much if I would have used 1 packet, and its more or less a good rule of thumb. That being said, it's not always needed, so dont feel like you have to use 2 packets of yeast. I would definitely recommend if you havent already, to not use the Coopers DIY yeast though and replace it with a Safale us05 for a pale ale
@@FairDrinkumBrews found out using that coopers yeast the hard way! Have already bought some 05 for the next few 🙌 might try two for my next pale ale 🍺 🍻cheers 🍻
@@kaylemerchant-jd6wi gotcha, I found out the hard way too, I woudl also recommend steering clear of the coopers and thomas coopers range, and instead go with maybe Morgan's, Brick Road or Black Rock. never had a bung batch from them, but had a few from coopers (through absolutely no fault of my brewing processes).
Thanks mate re the enjoy making beer :), it got abit heavier and yes it got hot, but I didnt use Boiling water, hot enough to release the extra bits though, I usually use a tea towel to hold the cans, but this one wasnt super hot like usual :)
Looking forward to seeing how it turned out 👍🍻

Thanks mate, I already have a few more kits ready to brew, tossing up between Stout or Lemonade.

Can't get better than filtered rain water.
hahah I guess, the Filter I use is the Brita, which helps remove Chlorine and other nasties.
I also got a TH-cam channel and designed and built my own reflux still over 10 years ago. Also started off with making beer from extract tin.
ooo nice, I will be sure to give the channel a squizz

How did the Balter come out?
Just done my first brew from south coast and waiting to bottle but very keen to make a Balter haha
@@dylanacres turned out borderline undrinkable, and im not sure why, so my next balter im going to give a crack is Balter Hazy
Did that can get hot or heavier when you poured the boiling water in? I'm also a Moderator on the Simple home brew group. Enjoy making some beer mate.
