I am SO excited to bring this video to you all. If you are familiar with our other Videos, you know that a lot of our Trips are to Cayo Costa State Park, which is just west of Cape Coral, Florida and Pine Island, Florida. Cayo Costa is a boat access only State Park island located just minutes away from Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, and Pine Island here in Southwest Florida. Along with seeing several Manatees, Dolphins, Pelicans and more, we explore the entire island from north to south, to show you all what the different parts of the Island are like, so that you can better plan you next trip here and relax and explore this amazing island! Cayo Costa State Park is one of our favorite beach trips in the Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda area. Since it is boat accessible only, you can get a huge chuck of the island to yourself, and feel like you are on an 'Old Florida Deserted Island'. This is what Florida looked like 400+ years ago. I am hopeful that you will be able to use this video as a reference in the future before heading out to Cayo Costa. Great video. We just camped on cayo costa this past weekend in the "rustic" cabins. The beach was beautiful but it was hot in the cabins and the no-see-ums were brutal. We drove through Matlacha on the way to Safe Harbor Marina and loved it, so when we got home Sunday we booked a house there. I'll be back in just 4 weeks 😊. Hoping to boat all around the area including getting back to Cayo Costa. Keep the videos coming, we get alot of ideas from you.

What time of year was this trip undertaken?
how long did it take you so get from Matlacha to Pelican Bay. Wife and Iwill be down in Cape Coral soon and are getting a 42 foot yacht with a dingy for the back. Is it pretty easy to maneuver around the islands? Obviously won't be going 50mph but more like around 20mph once we hit the normal speed zone. Love this area and plan on getting up to Boca Grande as well. Love learning from your videos. Thanks!

Thanks for commenting Gunther. It’s a VX Cruiser HO. Been very happy with it. I think I went just over 45 miles on this trip. I usually get around 6mpg so probably around 7-8 gallons. (18 gal tank and was plenty over half tank when I got back). I’ll check when I fill it up before the next trip. Big fan of Lovers Key. Want to do another trip down there. Hope to see you out on the water sometime! 🚤🏝

Does anyone ever hang out in the lagoon?
I’ve never seen anyone in there who isn’t fishing, and the Park Ranger did mention that there is a big alligator 🐊 that hangs out in there so that may be why, ha. I’m want to do a fishing trip there now though. Thinking on the paddle board?!
