I think the UTCD diagnosis is so important. I'm now on the path of being diagnosed, with most definite features of MTCD - specifically Sjogren's. But if my primary care (GP) had recognised that the 3 chronic symptoms that had appeared between 2016-2018 had the potential to be autoimmune-related, they could have added that to my patient notes. That way, subsequent trips to the GP would have been added to the UTCD history and pathway. It's so difficult to be seen by the same GP at one surgery / medical practice. With only 10 minutes available per appointment, it's difficult to get the GP to recognise the patient's concern about an underlying condition rather than offering possible treatments for the one new (and ongoing) symptom that they're presenting to the doctor in that appointment.

Thank you for this very informative session. I learned so much and now feel I can get much more out of my appt with the rheumatologist tomorrow.

Could a decade of herpes\shingles that reoccur during this time every few months cause DM by wrecking\confusing the immune system over time when finally the patient hits 45+ years age?
