I used to play Catan with Cities & Knights a lot. That was my gateway game in the noughties. I’m probably not going to pick this up but I do find it fascinating that there is an expansion for an expansion. Wow.
Going back over the rulebook, i realized they've done this before. There's a Scenario add-on for Seafarers that i'd completely forgotten about (i didn't get a whole lot of use from Seafarers back in the day).
@@NightsAroundaTableTo be honest, Legend of the Seafarers is far more enjoyable and less daunting than Legend of the Conquerors is. I can't get my gaming group to even consider playing Legend of the Conquerors, because it simply introduces too many new game mechanics all at once.
I was at 401 games in Vaughan this Wednesday, it's a 2 hour round trip for me but well worth it
Same! Coming from Oshawa. Tbh, i think i actually prefer Bliss, although 401 has marginally better prices. The selection at Bliss is tops.
@@NightsAroundaTable I'd agree, bliss does get some imports, and has some good stock of sleeves and other components. I just like the physical store for 401 a bit more. Rummaging through the back area always seems a bit odd
I'm glad your new camera finally arrived. You're a dork, but your excitement is contagious. I hope you have fun figuring out how to use it in your content.
As for legacy content, I'm partway through Pandemic Legacy season 1 and liking it, but I know you're not a big co-op guy. You might enjoy Rise of Queensdale if you're looking for a neat competitive legacy game. My wife and I played through that one and liked it a lot. It comes with a plunger!
Plunger?? SOLD! (?)
i don't like co-op, but it's kind of hard to argue with a game that's topped the BGG 100 list for so long. i have a friend who's played through Pandemic Legacy *multiple* times with different sets of friends.
Wife and I just finished Clank! Legacy and had SO much fun (both pretty new to board gaming do I was psyched when she enjoyed it). Just bought Pandemic Legacy Seasons 1 & 2 to continue the legacy goodness next.
My Legacy-adoring friend was a few games into Clank! before the pandemic derailed him, and it looked like he was having a great time!
I played cities and knights last night and it took 5 hours
Oh, for sure. Was that your first time? i remember it being about 3 hours long, but it’s longer at 5-6 players, of course.
Greetings from Sweden and a new sub! :D
Thank you! Welcome!
Can I play this expansion without following the 4 stories? I mean, just place a random map and play adding the new pieces? Thanks
Yes, but the maps are prescribed, not randomized. Each map has its own unique ruleset. You can skip the multi-page story for each one - it’s just a thematic justification for the way the map is set up and what your objectives are.
@@NightsAroundaTableWhat bothers me the most about the new scenarios that Catan is releasing (like Legend of the Seafarers; Legend of the Conquerors; Treasures, Dragons, and Adventurers) is that they all have prescribed maps and components for only four players. So my five-player gaming group simply can't play them. 😢 We've tried incorporating some of the ideas into our regular five-player games, but it's sad that Catan provides official five- and six-player support for some of their expansions, but not all of them.
@@kentslocum Oh - that's interesting! i'll have to ask them about that.
I like catan board game and I like your TH-cam channel
i like that you like both of those things!
I’m just here because I enjoy your videos. Haven’t played Catan. Jumped right into Pandemic and Mage Knight when I first got started in boardgaming a few years ago.
For legacy games, we’ve played halfway through Pandemic Legacy 1 & halfway through Charterstone (different gaming groups). Highly enjoyed both.
Mage Knight was your gateway game???
@@NightsAroundaTable LOL, yes. Complete ignorance is my excuse. A friend already in the hobby said it was awesome, so I went for it because I trusted his opinion. He didn't tell me how complex it was. He was right though. Now, it's one of my fav games.
@@jackdempsy7104 Ha! It's like jumping into the deep end while someone holds you underwater! Glad you wound up enjoying it though. i quite like Vlad C's game designs. And his rulebooks are the best in the biz.
@@NightsAroundaTable Oh, for sure! Dungeon Pets is the funniest rulebook we've come across - another game we love to pieces.
Not sure why you used bluescreen? I don't think it added anything of value.
You're right. i cut it out when i use that closeup cam in more recent videos.
Box fart asmr
Just 3.5 hours of puuuure box farts.
You look like Del Bigtree
That's the first i've heard of that (and him!) i may share his hair, but i don't share his views.
@Nights Around a Table all good, not trying to start anything. I appreciate your videos btw. Just got into Catan a week ago and $400 later I'm wanting LotC now, haha. C&K is great, I probably won't even look at the others for awhile.
@@KeepersoftheTorah Whoa! Sounds like you grabbed maybe some of those 5-6p expansions?
This is a pretty good storage solution for the base game and the first two expansions. Nothing else is likely to fit, though:

@Nights Around a Table thanks! I'll look into this. Yeah I grabbed a few and the settlers of America, pirates, and the dice and 2 player card game and that catan trading post card holder. I'm on vacation these two weeks and just about all we've done is play catan lol.
1st! Lol always wanted to do that!
