Excellent movie ! Richard Conte was a great actor. Joan Bennett and Wanda Hendrix helped make this a great movie along with Reed Hadley. I wish they could make movies like nowadays. Thanks for the great movie.
Thanks to TH-cam I discovered a great actor that I wasn't aware of before. Richard Conte has been excellent in all of his pictures I've seen so far (about 6 or 7).
This was a great movie, I love Richard Conte. I never saw this one before and it kept my attention thru the entire movie. This was a thumbs up, I love movies that keep you guessing at who did it.
"You know, things may be a little tough before we get the place fixed up" "How tough can they be with a swimming pool in every room" Man, how I love this movie!
Loved it when the dairy truck ( All 12 ft of it) blocked the entire highway and stopped the cops cold. You just have to take all these 50’s films at face value and try not to laugh. However you have to love Conte in this and as the great Don Barzini in The Godfather.
Wow another excellent old movie from the Golden Era of Hollywood. I wish I could find more of these classic movies. I am a new subscriber here so I will check out your other movies. Thanks 😊❤

The biographical info on some of these B movie actors is fascinating. Their lives were not all parties and nightclubs. No doubt many struggled with life's perils. Mr Conte, Ms Hendrix and Mr Hadley all died in their early sixtes. The former two were married multiple times, Ms Hendrix to the famous Audie Murphy! Some of the dialogue in this movie, especially where Ms Hendrix takes an "...inventory..." of her body, highlight the exploitation and dangers that young female actors would have sometimes had to navigate in the classical Hollywood period. I do enjoy being able to view such artistic history via the good people who post and the positive aspects of the connectivity of the interweb.
They say he was an army captain, but he has E5 stripes on his sleeves. Plus, they walked away from him, leaving the 45 and the bullets sitting right there.
The gas station scene with slowpoke Rodriguez pumping the gas is the same location as the cafe scene right after they picked up Jim. The Baker's cafe sign is in both scenes.
And when he was first sat at the bar talking to the woman with the bracelets he didn't get his cigarette lit, then after the camera went to her & back to him it was lit.
gee, those coppers still wanna give Nick Conte some problems even after he is clean of it all from the start, they certainly have a couple of things wrong in their 'law book'. that is one of the best films in this genre.
Whether he is the killer or not is immaterial. He has already committed enough crimes for 50 years in jail. From resisting arrest , to stealing police guns to kidnapping, to car theft just mention a few. Only thing he cannot be accused of is littering. ❤❤
I know she was like some kind of Hollywood royalty but Joan Bennetts voice was hard as nails at this point in her career I rate her as a very good actress though
Such a shame that the big Hudson with the superlounge and built in bed became the little short lived Rambler. This film is probably sponsored by Hudson or Rambler with all these cop cars and even that strange little convertible owned by the angry marine at the quarantine. These first ramblers had a couple Hudson features to facilitate the transition to mediocrity. They kept the beautiful big metal round grille and they kept the covered front wheels. That's why the fronts of these cop cars look like miniature Hudsons.
Absolutely one of the most stilted, telegraphed, implausible, overwrought, absurd, ludicrous, predictable, and lame pictures I have very much enjoyed in a long, long time!
No Oscar's for this terrible little film. Richard Conte was generally a good actor. Joan Bennett was a stiff, emotionless piece of wood. Her "acting" never changed, she was still the blank piece of paper on "Dark Shadows" in the 60's.
BENNETT played her role perfectly!!! Joan Bennett was a great actor , and your accusation about her acting is so wrong. She was a wonderful actor, and you need to watch more of her films !!
@@laraegodwin6008 My mother was a Bennett. I always heard we were supposed to be distantly related to Joan and Constance. So, that made me more curious about their acting, tho they were well before my time. I still say Joan was a cardboard actress, incapable of showing much emotion. After her scandal of the early 50's, there was a perpetual blank look on her face.
Wrongly accused of killing a bar-girl he was seen with earlier, a Korean War vet flees from the police in the company of a woman photographer and her young female model.

Pristine copy of the film is wonderful experience. Thank you Emma Ms Clarke!

Enjoyed watching. Thank you.

it was pretty obvious from the beginning, especially about the dog leash missing....
Always love watching these movies from Hollywood's Golden Age.
Better than streaming video any day. ❤❤❤❤❤
When I am out in the desert struggling, I want to look like these gals.
"You know, things may be a little tough before we get the place fixed up"
"How tough can they be with a swimming pool in every room"
Man, how I love this movie!
When 3 people could sit on the front seat.
This movie is a beautiful time capsule of the Dalton Sea.
Wow actual sunlight, no light filters, no light to make it look gloomy--- wow what a time.
A grand old movie - very entertaining indeed.
Joan Bennett! Such a great actress!
Very interesting!! No cussing. No sexual scenes!!
Richard Conte was always a very good actor loved his movies. He also played in God Father.❤️👍🏼
Don Barzini says hello.
Nice Movie! Very worth Watching!❤❤❤❤
For added nostalgia, ice cream truck shows butterscotch/filbert flavor, and in the day of real cream and actual nuts.

Good actors...authentic settings...nice little story that moves well...loose at times but worth watching
I liked the movie!
I like a happy ending 😊 I was born in 1954.
I can't believe three people are sitting in the front seat
that's the way cars were built then.... a bench seat across the front ....plenty of room for three....
That was one of the beauties of those cars back then.

Wow----I enjoyed the film
NO DOGS OR TIGERS WERE INJURED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS FILM..
That was a most enjoyable film in the old style .
They say he was an army captain, but he has E5 stripes on his sleeves. Plus, they walked away from him, leaving the 45 and the bullets sitting right there.
Legendary producer/director Roger Corman's first film. He co-wrote the screenplay.
I enjoyed the film. !!
Excellent movie. Everything outdoors. Budget must have been shoestring. Such movies are not made anymore.

Who let's a hitch hiker just start driving the car.. then with the keys in the café so u can't leave him.. Not the brightest sparks.😂..
All depends on where you are from.....😅,,,,, I'm from the 50's, that's the way it was back then 😉

I have watched already.
Even back then they had crazy women.😂 The opening scene pretty much sums up my dating life! Borderlines, narcs, dipsos and you name it.

Boa diversão.

The real America...now vanished.....
Has America ever been real or is it now real? 🤔😯😳
Richard Conte
Good content interesting watch climax could have been better
Now, who approached you first? Barzini or Tattaglia.
“It was Barzini
An pretty good movie .

Ha ha that’s a great point. He comes out of the café and there’s no hamburgers. That’s funny you noticed that.

Boy....did this movie suck.

So... it WASN'T Barzini after all.
