That’s a GE loco just manufactured in India with GE tech . The first 10 were manufactured in the US and the rest of the 790 are made in India with a power output 4500 and 6000 hp . Cheers from Australia .

It is at least uncommon un the states for a long haul to run engine first. But if you think about it, it is similar to trying to see past the boiler on a steam engine. Lots of railroads used to run high hood first because engineers were used to steamers, meaning they are used to low visibility.
That also said, turntables aren't used as much in the states to my knowledge. If it's running in both directions, they'll hook up cab forward on each end of the locomotive consist.
