There is nothing to hate about the speed, design, handling and even the comfort in a car like this, but the lack of analog sensation, raw power and the sound of the old school 60's -70's (and 80's) cars in the same range will forever be missed (at least by those race freaks among us who had the pleasure of experiencing them).
@@AutoTraderTV Sporty, but not aggressive. The overall design of the car isn't intended to be "aggressive". It's a car marketed to the youth and the hipster types of the world. PS. I own and love my R56 JCW. Which is, I think, better looking, but technically inferior to the new car. Though that's enough to stop me liking or buying these new F56 cars.
I've heard that rear "aluminium strut base" isn't even connected to the top of the rear suspension It does as little for the car as the fake spoiler which needs an extra rubber lip because its completely flat
Great video review Rory, i bet you were itching to drive though, i used to have the '53 Cooper s, which was crazy and had the iconic whining super charger and that open bonnet vent, i was invited to order a limited number of the 1st GP which had the super charger. This GP 3 should of been fitted with a super charger to give it that aggressive whining sound and instant power.
I owned #40 JCW Challenge and as you say it is a brilliant track car but way too hard a ride to use as a daily (plus the very basic spec). Have a deposit down for a GP3, don’t mind it being an Auto (this box is superb in manual mode) plus it has the spec to make a really good all rounder.
As the owner of a GP2 my 1st question is what Suspension is GP3 using ? The current GP2 model Bilstein adjustable suspension is terrible and suffers with serious knocking issues between 14-20 k miles . Have Mini sorted this ? Plus ....what is going on with these mad wheel arches ? And at the moment that rear spoiler really is not doing it for me . Think ill wait to see one in the flesh to reserve full judgement and probably keep my GP2 .
This has standard shocks and springs, it doesn’t have coilovers. They are tuned for the car obviously but there is no adjustment in them. The arches are there because of the wider track.
I am from RECIFE in Brazil, South America, I love these minis but particularly the GP, now we have a clubman with the same power wish minis had 306 hp permanently
I remember seeing the concept version of this at Goodwood FOS a few years ago and it looked impressive then. Obviously had to be tamed a little bit from that version but the production model does look ace. I'd buy it for the wings and arches alone!
Irshaad Shaikh I practice what I preach 😂 But to be honest you could insert any car you like in my comment and it will either have more power or cost less
Power to weight is the real deal. I suggest you drive whatever you like. Most of my motorcycles were faster and more fun and more in the real world than all these high priced bubble transportation units. The original mini beat up on the big powerful V8’s of the day when first released - go figure.
Anthony O'Loughlin it is important for sure, but so is weight distribution and the M240 is near 50/50 whilst the gp is near 60/40 towards the front. The B58 is massively underrated and has more tuning potential anyway. The M240i May have the better power to weight ratio because the minis aren’t the light fleet footed cars they used to be, it’s more of a maxi. Either way I’d bet that the 2 series offers the superior driving experience.
Lol 10k? Sure, if literally all you care about is speed. I doubt you'll find a 10k f56 cooper s, with less than 90k miles on the clock and no wear/tear.
@@the___truth8038 there are 100's for sale under 10k with less than 30k miles. I bought one in 2018 with 11k miles for 10.8k and that was fully loaded. Have a look
The original Cooper S in the current iteration is my favorite. Gas mileage and interior room in a small package is what I like about Mini. The clubman is next and with economy down it still gives back with more interior room. Either an electric with range or a hybrid would interest me much more than a zero to 60 miachine that takes 5 seconds. The roads are littered with gas engine cars that do more than 5.0. AF
What I appreciate most in reviews is the honesty. There is no reason to sugar coat the look of those fenders! And in general I feel that he's trying to sell me the car.

Don't understand why the wheel fenders are carbon but then go to a cheap plastic. Especially at the rear, the rear diffuser which isn't a real diffuser is a cheap ABS plastic. Still like the car tho but think if your gonna go extreme you might as well go all out
How did you feel when someone else is driving without passion and not pushing the machine to its intended limits. Was hoping you asked the gentlemen for a pit stop and to step to the side, LOL
You either like them or you don’t, before you say something, i have driven one, a few years ago admittedly and I found it leaden, heavy, as if the wheels where made of Lead, the dash was all retro like Mini, start button/ key ignition in an awkward position, not intuitive, and I’d go as far as say it’s a 2+2 , no way a long distance car if your in the back seats, and it ain’t cheap especially if you add options, which you will because some should be standard, and, there are far too many options to personalise it also.😘
Love you Autotrader

I have never described the front end of a mini as aggressive
What word would you use to describe this one?
I thought that 😂
AutoTrader pouty.. it’s a mini with a little more lipstick on its lip fillers

I quite like it wish they offered in manual like previous generations. I would take this over BMW M1.35i .

If they could only make the R53 with just updated everything, instant buy.

On other channels the rear cross brace has no strengthening benefits. It's just there to stop luggage moving into the front.
BTW those side parts aren't carbon fiber its a cheaper composition material that gives the impressive its Carbon fibre 1:30
it's carbon, just a mix of plastic. look it up
How are u going to clean the side fender if the dirt or mud goes inside?
with a hose pipe
blake f it’s not fenders
