Actually groups like XG came after Blackpink and because Blackpink's concept made huge success internationally, so a lot of groups that were created after try to have the same style and concept (the girl crush concept, with intimidating songs and heavily rapping based) and I think the XG girls are doing a good job (better than most of the other groups that also tried to follow Blackpink's steps). Blackpink is nowadays the biggest girl group of the world (and in some countries they're actually the biggest group overall). Blackpink's concept is also about duality, they have their Black side (powerful, intimidating, savage followed by lots of EDM and hip hop) and their Pink side (more girlie, popish and colorful), so each song fits in one of these sides and everyone can find a song that fits the best their taste
Before BP, there was 2NE1 who made famous the KPop girl crush concept. 2nE1 was the blueprint of YG's next gg BP at that time, only remodeled to look more like models. And Oh, XG is way different than BP. They're more into old school concept (90's hiphop r&b vibe and fashion) and more focused in being a global group. No hate to BP but imo, XG is way better than BP, rapwise, dancewise and vocal wise. They may be not as famous and are still rookies but they got my ( a non kpop fan) attention big time.
Gonna correct you here and say 2NE1 popularized the girl crush concept and made international noise before BP even debuted. That's why the former CEO called them the prettier 2NE1. Not knocking their influence, but they weren't the first.
