Cheers Dan. The Xmid is one incredibly designed tent and congratulations on it. It performed so well. Just in love with it. Here's to many more wild camps in the future 💪🤙🙂
@@whatsnottohike Thanks for the kind words. We mostly sell through our website rather than retailers to keep the prices low, but we do ship to Europe regularly (every day) and we have low cost shipping for that. The taxes are roughly the same either way.
Cheers mate. Yeah this was one special night. Really enjoyed it. Really looking forward to seeing you back on the trail man. Hope the back is healing. Yes it didn't even enter my mind to not put the rocks back. If you love this place, leave no trace. 🤙💪 Cheers for the comment pal.
Martin, agree that Temple Hill is a nightmare with an ordinary day pack👍 A nice bit of shelter at the cairn to use that cool looking new Stanley cup (and hip flask). Always cool to be under a clear sky full of stars🌟 That was an absolutely beautiful morning with that frosty landscape above the cloud inversion. Super cool to watch the sun☀ coming up on the horizon. A hot cuppa must be the ultimate thing to have when out wild camping☕ Always good to be out and that looked like a way cool adventure👍
Thanks Gerry. It was such a cold fresh night. The rum really did help. That morning sunrise was one in a million. It was just incredible how cold, fresh and stunning it was. Makes it all worthwhile as you know. Very impressed by that Stanley cup. Keeps drinks super warm. Thanks for the comment Gerry. As always Thanks for the support. 🙂
Well mate.. yeah that jacket is so warm. Love it bits the Columbia Arch Rock jacket. I have the large with big.. medium maybe better but I have fit layers under it if need be so happy days.
Great video. Thats one hell of a scene to wake up to! Makes it all worthwhile. I like the look of that Columbia jacket, looked like it was reflective inside? Looked bloody feeezing but great to see someone put their gear to the extremes they are rated at. The durston looked amazing in that setting, im torn between one of those or a Bonfus one, who are italian so would save on postage. Thanks for a super video, cant wait to be back in ireland, hopefully later in 2024 ill be back over. All the best. Martin.
Ohhh yes, that looked unbelievable 👍. I loved them views in the morning time. A great coat and hat you’ve got there. Mighty video all round, I look forward to the next one.
Cracking stuff. I was hoping for more information on what gear you used and what you thought if it. But a great hike for sure. I must make it over that way soon
You read my mind.. I learned a lot of lessons from this camp and I am planning on doing a lessons learned on sub zero camp video. About the gear and what I learned. Stay tuned pal.
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the kind words. It's great to hear the positive words as it takes a long long time to edit these videos. This was over 10 hours. Crazy but I love it.
Cracking video man! What a spot! You must sleep warm. I know now from winter camping that I sleep very cold and to sleep comfortably, I would need to factor in at least ten degrees Celsius more than what is forecast and choose my sleep system accordingly. I am planning to try thermal stacking by putting a quilt over/inside my Rab Ascent 900 or failing that getting a dedicated winter bag.
Cheers pal. You are well used to those conditions. What bag do you use? Alway interested in other content creator set ups.. cheers for the comment pal.
Very nice vid. 😊 Durston (X-Mid) cloned this tent from the Sierra Designs - High Route 3000 1P 🙂 Sierra Designs - High Route Was realised in 2016 and Xmid came out 2018.

Nicely done! Those are tough but gorgeous conditions. Glad the tents are working well. Thanks for using our gear.

I'd love it if you sold your tents in Europe! They look awesome!

That was a cracking morning. Fair play for putting the rocks back, I can't wait to get back to them hills. Really enjoyed the video 👍

Brave man that was a cold night
Great video mate, tempted to buy that jacket, looks really warm. I’ve camped at -10 too but with zero wind, so wasn’t too bad .

-10? Wow. And I thought 3C on a windy headland was bad enough!
What a lovely morning Martin! I see Craig has joined the X-Mid party too 😎 Glad your gear served you well for the freezing temperatures 🤩
Hey Miriam.. how are you? Yes the Xmid party is growing 🤣 it's was a spectacular night.
You wild campers are mad going out in that cold weather. Go on mountain goat 👍
😂😂 mountain goat is right.. Shetland pony more like it 😂 . That was one brilliant camp. Loved it.

@@soletrail Thermarest Polar Ranger. Just ordered it. Comfort -20C, weight 1.56kgs.
Did you stay warm overnight then?
Yep... Will do a lessons learned video. I learned many.
You need some cake
Curious, is that the Durston X-Mid Solid? Looked like a bit of condensation inside. How did it hold up?
Which sleeping bag did you take for the nights in August in Iceland?
I use the same bag all year round. The sea to summit ascent II. It's light and works for the way I sleep which is the most important.
What alcohol stove are you using mate ??
The X Boil. My favourite stove. Check them out.
@@soletrail - what width stove ? 90-100 ?
@@gnarlyfox yep that on is the 90 - 100.. I have the 130 one as well. Measure and buy to suit. Incredible unit and Leo is a gent to deal with.
