Ryan, this may be your most useful practical forehand tip! Usually takes me a set into a match to really start making contact in front - makes a huge difference in consistency and timing

As a tennis beginner, I would like to know which techniques should I learn first, do I need to hone them before starting more fancy stuff like drop shot or slice serve. There is pretty much a lot of information but Im not sure what is the correct way of learning everything. If you could do a video about it, I guess it would help thousands of beginners, cause there is literaly no such video on the whole youtube. :)

Start by learning and practicing each stroke, don’t focus on little details yet, keep it vague, you don’t have to be perfect to hit a pretty good ball early on.
Just keep playing, improve power, consistency, technique.
Listen to coaches, whether on TH-cam or not and you’ll pick it up fine

Stick a video of Federer doing practice hitting and just shadow it the best you can. Don’t try to copy him technically just get some rhythm in timing the ball with an easy stroke. Will work wonders for you.

Make sure your grip resembles a fh grip that feels comfortable to you and use the “bounce hit” technique in timing the ball. Also as you turn to set up, your chin should touch your left shoulder and as you swing through the ball with your head still your chin should finish on your other shoulder.(right handed of course).

Tennis is all about controlling the angle of the racket face at contact. As a beginner, you want to practice a bit of everything. Trying to use "pro" technique will likely hold you back because the timing is so hard. So just get used to guiding the ball based on the face og the racket.

Ryan the question is: how to point the ball with the head of the racket before contact? do I have to force that position a little?

I was just going to ask a question on your other video about contact point. Great timing (212).

It is so crucial for us to hit the ball to get topspin and solid contact with upper body tilting.

In order to get the buttcap to point at the ball, you have to have a semi western grip with your hand on the correct bevel, then once you do your unit turn and drop the racket, drive the leg and hip forward and rise the non hitting hand, and it will naturally happen.

Love the way you analyse the strokes of the top players and draw over them with lines, so helpful.

they can keep that wristangle intact ( not changing ) at 5.20 is not correct , the angle the moment they start to swing up is changing !! the moment they go up the racket is in lag position ( about 85 to 100 degree angle forarm and racket depending on the loseness of player ) at contact the angle will be between 30 and 45 degree so there is a change and that change is making rackethead speed !!!

    buttcap forward = racquet lag?

I disagree with this. I tried it and I would still be late hitting the ball. It should be your footwork that makes sure you hit the ball in front of you. If you concentrate too much on your butt cap, you won't be moving fast enough or properly. It's better to think "move to area at least one foot in front of the side of the ball" which makes you adjust with your feet rather than be caught flat-footed concentrating on your arms/hands. "Side of the ball" gives you enough space to hit your shot. If the ball is directly in front of you, you'll hit it awkwardly. Watch the pros -- they always hit the ball at the side of their body, not in front of their body.
