I've owned both the 3SFE & 3SGE. The FE is one of the most reliable engines ever made and the GE is one of the best performance engines ever made on equal ground as the 2JZ. On the Championship winning Castrol Tom's Supra, they removed a 3 litre 2JZ and fitted a 2 litre 3SGE that went on to win a long list of Championship races * Get a 3SGE asap...more fun than you can imagine with rock solid reliability :)
100 percent agree with your statement. They are all great engines. And back in the day for JGTC the engine was called the 503E which has been the development engine for what we now know is the 3SGE/ 3SGTE.
Yes it is doable. But doing so requires installing all of the ancillaries from the 3SGE as well the rotating assembly to ensure reliable operation with the cylinder head swap. I hope I was able to answer your question. Have a good one 👍 😊
It may work. But I suggest not doing so, because it may cause damage to the bores and pistons as they were not machined to accept those rings. It's best to be on the safe side.
@hot chocolate Yes! Essentially you would just need the 3SGE cylinder head along with the timing components. I would also suggest running the 3SGE connecting rod and piston combination, so that you would have good piston to cylinder head, and piston to valve clearance.
Yes If they come from a Rav4 but if the 3sge is from something else then no they are not, because of the different lengths of the belt as well as the design of the compressor to fit the engine bay. I hope that I was able to help you out.👍🤗

Are the head gaskets interchangeable between the FE and GE engines? Cometic offers a few choices in thickness for the GE engines. I wish to increase the C-Ratio on my FE and will upgrade my fuel octane to 91-94 to manage detonation/ping. My goal is to get a bit more low-speed torque when I get my FE head refreshed. So difficult to follow the dialogue, but the info is good.

Apologies for the dialog. As per your question, yes they are interchangeable and should work without any troubles.

It should line up correctly as the block architecture between the two are similar.
