I really wish they had adapted the book more faithfully. It was so charming and cute and had better plot points. But love the actors and their chemistry in the show.
@@joelvaldovinos1883 So in the book, Jane is kinda book-nerd-quirky girl. Once a suitor came for her bearing silk, and she started lecture about how silks are made from boiling worms. He fled that moment. Also, Ethians were not feared in the book. In fact, it was seen as a gift. But G's problem was that he couldn't change according to will, and so he was scared as how to tell her. But after their wedding day, they woke up, and he turned into a horse- and the whole thing was really funny. Then there's some chapters of the King and his companion fleeing and living in the woods or sth, and it was really funny and wholesome. Overall, the book was more of a comedic, YA approach but the series leaned towards a dark theme. And that's okay, but as a book fan it kinda feels like a betrayal- like being a fan of Game of Thrones and then you find out the adopted version is a Romcom 💀
@@geminithetwinseven though the overall vibes may be different, with the show being darker, I do think that the feelings you mentioned were portrayed even if not in length
I think I was disappointed because the genre was flipped- the characters' personality changed 180`, the Ethian problem was nonexistent in the book, and instead of goofy comedy we got actions. I probably would have enjoyed the show a lot if I hadn't read the book before. But I did, so I had expectations, and so my experience wasn't that smooth.
@@geminithetwins but I think it was a different and totally unhinged take with history so I guess both show and books can be considered in slightly different genres
wow that makes me so happy❤️ But little caution: The book isn't like the series. It's fun, quirky, and goofy. Also there isn't much enemies to lovers going on, more like arranged marriage to lovers, but I loved their stories nonetheless! Hope you enjoy the book as I much as I did!
@@geminithetwins I went into this without reading the book, and I have it out from the library now. But I'm not sure I can go backwards! I have perused it some because I figured I knew what happened overall. Some very big changes! I LOVE the show though. My new favorite ever?!
Now that you've mentioned it, I really can't unsee it😭 especially the part where Jane has a dagger and Guilford is just standing there with a butter knife 😫

right??? It would be much more enjoyable to watch...tho ig the protagonists' constant banters kind of filled that void for me:')
Could you go into more depth? Any favorite moments or aspects you wish were in the show? I’m curious to know.

Ok so I haven't read the book but honestly I can't see how the show would be more perfect ! Great balance between action drama and comedy !
