Model Y SR - Driving in Snow

- 7-8 inches of snow and bad winter weather was the perfect opportunity to take my Tesla Model Y out for a spin. Join me as I put it to the test, get it stuck in deep snow and then manage to navigate through it all. The Model Y is great and handles well, check it out!
This is awesome, I know the feeling of driving and difficulty on such kind of snow, and I am impressed how it manages it, given that its a single motor.
Yeah for sure! The motor is very powerful and the slip-start does pump more power into the tires when stuck. Also keep in mind these are stock 20” all-season tires, my plan is to get 19” winter tires on.
That's crazy performance for an all season, I wonder how it will fair with Mont Tremblant. Are you from veudrueil?
Mont-Tremblant will be a cool trip with the Tesla... definitely on my list :) Yes I’m in Vaudreuil.

I’m surprised you’re still running the All Seasons since Snow tires are mandatory in Quebec right?
Thank you! Yeah the drive was pretty great and I felt really comfortable on the roads. I’m going to have my wife drive it in the snow soon too and get her feedback on video. Glad the video is helping you guys with the decision. As for snow tires I have a grace period and then the car is going in for ceramic coating (takes about a week at the shop). So I will just pass on snow tires this season most likely as the date is March 15th to switch them back.

Yes same here... I think it will be better on winters and I feel I should drop a size 19/18 to improve efficiency as well as better overall winter driving. I’ll keep the channel posted on what I plan to do!
@@yulguy-teslatechdiy1509 Getting mine delivered on march 10th @Tesla Laval ! A twin of yours but with long range AWD. I think tires also matter much here in Quebec. I'm actually looking for a quote for 19 inches aftermarket wheels + good winter tires...

As for tires, absolutely will make a difference and with the AWD you should be golden. Check out Quattro tires, that’s usually my go to for tires.
Interesting. Thank you for posting this. Montreal right? Winter is harsh here, and I drove an RWD car like 10 years ago, and it's impossible in Winter.
Thanks! Going on 3 years now with the car and have not had any issues in Montreal winters. Keep in mind I do have a back up in case the storms are terrible, but nothing the MY SR can’t usually handle.
Thinking of getting one for daily (short rides), maybe once every winter to Qc city. Any issues on mechanics or electronics after 3 years?

@gueramsoukiasian6701 I actually ended up purchasing this SR two years ago with winters. Definitely usable. But still ended up switching to LR. Was worth the switch for me.

Zero issues! I would recco getting good snow tires though. I use the Michelin X-Ice and the handling is great.
Model Y SR is LFP or 21700 battery? How is its real range in winter?
what kind of tires do you have?
The day of this video they were stock all-season tires from Tesla (I left them on as it was almost the end of winter) However, I bought Michelin X-Ice the year after and they were solid!

Is this model comes with double window glass?
Hey... yes this is the 2021 model and it has double pane glass on the front windows.
