343 Guilty Spark was even more environmentally scary based on the new audio cues and scenery interaction going on around the player! Couldn't help but pause a couple of times to keep it together!
The Library on ledgendary, Kept all my marines alive through the whole level. Last door to the index was annoying, Had to make sure to throw a frag before the door opens, else the start of the firefight would often crash due to the amount of enemies and projectiles happen all at once.
I think the half life dialogue is such a great addition. Feels like it fits pretty well. I like how it's used in an allied context rather than the enemy military faction in half life. Fantastic fucking mod as well!
I've actually seen a Halo: Custom Edition mod's WIP video (I wish I could relocate it) where it actually included Kevin Sisk's 'Barney/Security Guard' voice set among the marines. If you're going to pull voices from other games into Halo mods, Valve & Crowbar Collective's rosters are definitely great choices (Half Life & Left 4 Dead especially). In fact, John Patrick Lowrie, voice for Male Citizen (Half Life 2), Sniper (Team Fortress 2), John Slater (Left 4 Dead, Death Toll), among many others even voices Sword Control, just as Jen Taylor, voice of Cortana also just-about-entirely voices Zoey (Left 4 Dead 2) (I say "just-about-entirely" as some remaining dialogue from an earlier voice actress whose-name-I-can't-recall still gets used in-game, chiefly some "Rescue's coming!" lines, possibly even much of her infamous "[Death]" screams) and David Scully, voice of Sgt. Johnson has done voice work for background characters in Left 4 Dead, possibly one of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CT factions and at least two DOTA 2 Heroes (Sven & Juggernaut being the two I recall), so there has been some crossover in casting there. *EDIT:* I relocated it. Consult 'Alzatar' and their 'a30 SPV2 valley progress' video riding a Rocket Hog with Stacker & Sisk (Looks they're still cooking up some ideas of their own since then, so those could be worth taking a look at).
Definitely the crème de la crème of the "bigger battles" genre. I hope we will get this same quality and attention to detail eventually for mods of the other titles.
The audio from 11:42 is actually taken from a song from Half Life called Forget About Freeman. The album is Unforseen Consequences. It's a banger too. Pretty neat inclusion.
That's just the radio voice line from the Black Mesa chapter 'Forget About Freeman', followed by a Halo: Reach glue track. It was used, along with other radio transmissions from Black Mesa, as part of morch kovalski's remix of Joel Nielsen's 'Forget About Freeman' (One of the game's best tracks), as part of their 'unforeseen consequences' remix album, though.
i used to always play halo mods like this back in the early custom edition days as a kid, now it’s hard to find time to download and play. thanks for these videos, it helps me still keep in touch with my lifelong love of halo 🤘
This looks Fantastic, I was already sold before the 8 minute mark but was waiting for one detail Im so glad you included; how the Chief looks. I gotta say that camo pattern and shoulder emblems are Awesome looking, I cannot Wait to play this myself! Thanks for covering it KYOT
The coolest thing about this mod to me is that it feels like an alternate timeline where Bungie took entirely different lessons from CE. It's a more brawl-y, open field dance kinda game than 2 and 3 are where you need to sit in cover all the time. I could even see the underbarrel as an official replacement for backpack reloading.
I wish there was a way that you could mix this mod with the gore mod for halo ce imagine the amount of guts and testicles fly all over after each fight
I honestly can't believe it's taken this long for me to see an 'AR-SG' show up in anything Halo related! I guess Halo having as good a Shotgun as it has largely left people more keenly chasing the 'AR-GL' or even 'BR-GL' that numerous community incarnations from early Custom Edition mods to The Silent Cartographer: Evolved or Pre-Release Macworld+Xbox would provide until the Digsite Crew would provide the definitive 'AR-GL' that we have today, but considering the very real-world use of buckshot rounds with grenade launchers (Although I believe these were primarily used for shoulder-fired grenade launchers such as the M79 'Thumper' Grenade Launcher before under-barrel grenade launchers such as the M203 rendered the need for an anti-personal round for grenadiers largely redundant) and the history of games offering such things (I very much remember Battlefield 2142 giving you the option of either under-barrel rockets or under-barrel shotguns for the Assault/Medic Kit), I'm genuinely surprised that it's taken until now for me to see anyone try the idea for Halo's arsenal. It's one I'd be keen to see more often. Also, I had to do a double-take on 6:08. I didn't even see 'em coming the first time!
This mod was hella fun. I’ve played a lot of halo mods ever since the CE days, and I would actually say that this was the most fun I’ve ever had in a halo game. The vid featuring these 2 levels doesn’t even do it justice. It’s a master piece. Every level is probably worthy of its own video imo. They actually made The Library FUN! It’s an utter miracle. The flood is so fun to fight in this mod. And the encounter design of every set piece is really really good. 343 Guilty Spark is probably the biggest standout of all. And the ending where you get to do a warthog run with Johnson and Linda…. Perfection. Halo is truly so much more fun when you have allies fighting with you!
Yeah you made it!!!! I agree completely!! This is how the Halo experience changes, improves and most important of all, it gets really fun to play!! A real Assault with lots of Marines to help you!!! So much fun!!!!
WALL OF TEXT: Played this mod, the plasma rifle (the normal one) sometimes spreads the shots to almost twice the crosshair's size, the scorpion's cannon will turn into an aa gun if you drive over the slightest incline, and the flood levels, especially the library, spawn so many enemies that it is possible for the game to crash ( keep in mind that i can run spv3 with max settings, and other massive mods without problems )., and there are sections of custom audio that make it impossible to hear anything. On the other hand, it does feel amazing to play with so many enemies and allies, especially when the marines follow you inside the various structures, at various points it is possible to see movie-like 3 way battles of sentinels covenants and floods, plus the various cusotm weapons add more interesting options for approaching the various modified encounters.
Things I'd recommend to add for marines: 1) Squad leaders equipped with the MA5B 40 mike-mike 2) Medics that drop health packs & utilize the standard MA5B 3) Breachers that utilize the MA5B "Masterkey" or M90 CAWS 4) Anti-Material/marksman equipped with the SRS-99C AM sniper rifle or the Spnkr. Having a structured squad with slight adjustments to behavior as per MOS should also be added.
I played this mod on both Heroic and Legendary thanks to this video. I gotta say, it's a very impressive mod. The creator has added multiple marine allies (with their own ranks), updated enemy AI, bigger battles and rebalanced weapons as well as vehicles (many of these assets are from Digsite). Also added was additional voice files and music too. It's a great mod and one of the best CE campaign mods I have ever played. However it does lose a bit of its traction towards the later half of the campaign (i.e. There are several scripted fights in Two Betrayals, the tunnel section in the mission Halo with the Shadows is a bit unbalanced I felt, allies sometimes despawn and on The Library at the final area, the game crashes). That aside, it still pulls it off. Definately recommend this mod as I said.
Back on the original Halo PC, I would mod my own campaigns with basic id tag swaps and minor weapon adjustments. I'd swap Marines with Spartans, reduce weapon spread, give the sniper explosive rounds, increase grenade blast radiuses, etc
Is it an overestimation to say this mod feels almost entirely fresh with it's design of gameplay philosophy? Because it feels fresh as heck and the only other halo mods I'm returning & diving into lately are Killtrocity's for Halo 2 (another fun mod author btw for y'all). To anyone who likes Halo mods and doesn't try this one out, you'll be kicking yourself in the foot for it later.
I don't know if you take any requests, but I highly recommend making a video about ruby's rebalanced halo CE. I can't even call it a "rebalance" as it does more than just tweak the stats of the overall sandbox of the game, it's out on the steam workshop if you're interested. 🤙
Latenight changed his cadence and speech to sound like Kyot years ago. Kyot put out a video that got a high view count and latenight stopped sounding so whiny lol
The "save all marines as possible" runs are going to be crazy. Imagine the army you accrue by the end of a mission just trashing whatever measly defenses the covenant have. Is there any co-op compatabilty?
I've almost done an entire playthrough of Havoc mod on legendary, with skull for unit upgrade on, Coop with my friend new to halo. After playing until TaR, we hid a snag, and as we started with reach, I decided to upp the ante. This mod is the best, and has given me a new appreciacion for halo CE. The two levels mentioned are good and all, but this mod... it makes the LIBRARY BEARABLE! Not easy, a bit repetitive. The inclusion of actual marines, teleported in by GS and actual elite encaounters make it something completely different, instead of the tiresome slog, that is the standard flood-infested 4-level slog... And also 343GS-mission, called "Signal Lost" really re-invents how scary the first flood-encounter can be. Would recommend
Hey KIOT, I see you have nice intro and outro animations for your channel. Did you do them yourself or did someone make them for you? I have my own gaming channel and would like to have a new intro for it and maybe an outro too.

Killing flood with the sniper

I think the half life dialogue is such a great addition. Feels like it fits pretty well. I like how it's used in an allied context rather than the enemy military faction in half life. Fantastic fucking mod as well!
I was literally just watching a half-life video talking about HECU before this one so hearing that exact line 2 vids in a row was kind of funny lol
2:38 An AR with an underbarrel shotgun?! Sign me the fuck up!
It's the Morita AR from the first starship troopers movie
Didn't the moritas start with the pulse rife used by the colonial marines from aliens
10:30 I instantly recognized this audio from Black Mesa, great (and creative!) pick by the mod author, fits the atmosphere like a glove.

That would've been fantastic as I did also feel especially in the late game a lot of the times you have Marines only use Assault Rifles.
That last battle looked very cinematic. I love the ragdoll/physics in this game lol you was getting tossed everywhere.

No. Mods from the community is where it's at
